Even though Queen is not really a functioning/recording band anymore, they are still in the public eye. The bands that are recording and continuing to put out new product after 20+ years are amazing, like Aerosmith, Yes, Rush, Heart and even what's left of Kiss. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are still performing and still selling tickets to events with old and new fans still attending their concerts. (Pretty good for almost forty-five years!)
"Queen"'s touring and recording has been bandied about, and it's pretty much still up in the air whether Roger and Brian will do anything at all except get everyone's hopes up only to be dashed once again. If they look at their contemporaries, they will see that some have replaced band members (not necessarily deceased) and have gone on recording/touring. Very few bands have original lineups (save for Aerosmith, Yes and Rush), so what is holding them back besides a musical that's been keeping them busier than they were since the last tour in 1986?
We can only wait (longer), and hope they will get off their duffs and DO something. It's been too long, time is precious and they're clearly not getting any younger! (I wouldn't like to imagine seeing Brian performing with a walker in front of him, or Roger sitting in a wheelchair instead of a regular drum seat!)
Is there anything at all we fans can do to be heard?
