Is it to commemorate one more year since Freddie's passing, or more like a cash-in for the upcoming holiday season?

LOL Captain. James T. Kirk.
But...on topic: I think that cashing in on the holidays is a big part of this, as QP has recently put out lesser quality products to get fans' money such as the QOL bootlegs and the new "Greatest Hits: We Will Rock You Edition" (or as I've heard it called, the 'We've taken all your money and we want more Edition'). I don't mind tho, a release a year is a pretty good flow!
I don't know how much involvement has Queen Productions had with the new "unnecessary" releases. To me it seems like compilation releases are more of record company thing, so you can also blame EMI & Hollywood Records for that.
Certainly is a practice that has become effective thanks to fan devotion. We've seen that a lot in film releases, when greedy Hollywood Studios come up with a DVD release of a very popular flick, and in less than a year they come up with a "Special Edition" release, which they know for sure that fans will buy AGAIN!
Now lately, we're seeing the same thing going on with music releases. Usher's album 'Confessions' was re-released on a special edition issue less than 2 months after its original release.
Also, Franz Ferdinand and Los Lonely Boys have had their albums re-released with a couple of new tracks, less than 6 months after their first release date.
This practice is becoming nothing but an insult, and a rip-off to all the fans. Goes to proove that most media corporations don't want your satisfaction, they want your money and nothing else.
