Right before all the bleeding hearts start their morose whining, let's get one thing straight. no whining, no moaning, no crying and no "it's the end of the world" stuff, ok - and no pathetic outpourings of emotion let's mark tomorrow with some dignity and class. Remember the music dear freddie bequeathed us, listen to a queen song or two and look back fondly at what was an outstanding musical genius...remember it's 13 years - we should all have got on with your lives by now, and the day should serve as a reminder of the good stuff - nothing more, nothing less!!! |
Lester Burnham 23.11.2004 18:21 |
Well said, sir. I may drink a glass of wine in his honor, maybe go out of my way to listen to a song or two, but I doubt I'll make too much of a big deal about it. |
karen 23.11.2004 18:34 |
Hi, yes, let's remember Freddie in a nice way, maybe listen to his music, watch a DVD, and enjoy the experience. I listen to Queen everyday anyway... To avoid all this "morose whining", I have started another topic to reflect on where Freddie would be today if he was still around. Cheers Freddie RIP |
My Melancholy Blues 23.11.2004 18:34 |
I totally think so... I always think about him everyday...not only this day but also rest of the days. I hear he was a very lively man. He used to enjoy life merrily. I'm going to tell him about everything joyful that I recently have had. In his honor, in honor of his great works, in honor of his life being a rock star, I also drink a toast to him with some champagne he loved so much. I love his banters and his "Cheers!" to the audience. Freddie, Cheers! as you used to say... RIP |

I agree. I tend to think of these types of things as a celebration of life rather than a mourning of death. Celebrate what great things he did during his lifetime. |
Mr.Jingles 23.11.2004 20:39 |
As Brian mentioned at the beginning of The Freddie Mercury Tribute... "We're here to celebrate the life, the work, and dreams of one Freddie Mercury". |
Monte: Liquorice Years 23.11.2004 20:49 |
you have a really good point.... why bother crying about the death of one of this century's greatest artist, when we should celebrate! i know i am (well, after work....) with a few drinks! RIP Freddie! |
Monte: Liquorice Years 23.11.2004 20:50 |
whoops! i just read my reply.... i dont mean "celebrate that he died" i mean "celebrate his life" hehe...sorry... im in a hurry, and didnt realise... |
Sir Archie 'Tiffany' Leach 24.11.2004 03:59 |
Bollocks to you killjoys! I'm dusting down my 'Magic' jacket as we speak and sticking on my lovely moustache. Bit of 'We are the Champions' down the Arndale will go down a treat with the coffin dodgers. Will then play out Freddie's final hours as he would have according to Peter Freestone before peeing myself at about quarter to seven. Call yourselves Queen fans!!! |

I'm meant to be going to college today but i dont feel to well so i'm going to sit at home and listen to every Queen album and B side there is. I know it sounds a bit silly but its something to do and its in memory of the greatest singer and live performer in the world EVER! I may even watch a few concerts and videos like Wembley, Budapest, Rio etc. Its not about thinking of how long ago he died its about celebrating the live of the best rock artist ever. At the moment i'm listening to My Fairy King from Queen 1. |
deleted user 24.11.2004 05:41 |
Is anyone else listening to much Queen today? I've already listened to Queen and Queen II. I'm now listening to Sheer Heart Attack. |
siljeoen 24.11.2004 05:44 |
A very sad day today... I always listen to Made in Heaven this day every year...:( |
deleted user 24.11.2004 05:49 |
I'll be listening to that soon. Its a very sad album but one of my favourites. |
Teo_torriate04 24.11.2004 06:17 |
Quiet day at work, listening to Queen ll :- 'Today the cloud it hangs over us and all is grey. But someday, oneday.......' RIP Freddie. |
Voice of Reason 2018 24.11.2004 08:09 |
Last night I watched the first few tracks of Live at Milton Keynes and had a glass of champagne. Here's to you Freddie! We still miss you. |
Fenderek 24.11.2004 08:25 |
I'm actually having party today... I'll try to play few good old tunes... We'll listen to Zeppelin, Purple, Sabbath- I guess there'll be plenty space for Queen... And I'll get really wasted!!! :)))) |

brENsKi 24.11.2004 11:36 |
i think it's good that we got it right this time was a bit worried about starting a thread like this - you never know how the apologists and whiners might repsond but i think as decent human beings we've managed to not overreact today ...queen II will be my choice listening, as it reminds me of how good Freddie was once he was actually given a decent amount of studio time...the shackles really came off on that record - they used every studio technique possible to make a great record - side black - just blows you away |
Leonardo Venegas 24.11.2004 11:46 |
I think it's a celebration of his life what we're doing today. Freddie gave us so much fun and happiness so we should remember him with joy. Although some tears have fallen from my eyes today, but the important thing is enjoy all the things He did when he was alive. That's why i listened the Freddie Mercury album, and I just watched Queen On Fire. God Bless You Fred Wherever You Are.RIP. |
KingMercury 24.11.2004 12:07 |
its quite funny and misterious, because i started to listen to Queen a few months after Freddie's death Here in argentina, Queen is very popular, and after fred's death, the press was talking about him, his life and his music all the time so i said to myself "lets buy Greatest Hits II" so, my doubt is : what would be happened if freddie were still around???" i started to listen to queen, basicaly, because fred's death, so, maybe, if freddie would be alive, i'd never listen his music Anyway, i wish he never died But i thank him for leaving us his music and his magic Fred, you are unforgetable!!! |
My Melancholy Blues 24.11.2004 12:10 |
When I got up in the morning and read this thread, I promised NO CRY and NO TEARS. But some tears came into my eyes when I was listening to "Too Much Love Will Kill You". But I made efforts not to cry anymore... I'm OK now, Yes! I love you Freddie!!! Even though many times I've said so, I'll say "I LOVE YOU FREDDIE!!!" every hour of every day... Again RIP |

I'm still celebration the life, works and dreams of the one and only freddie mercury. Today i have taken the time to listen to every Queen album. So far i've listened to Queen 1 to Hot Space. I'm listening to Hot Space now, Calling All Girls to be precice. I've still got, the works, a kind of magic, live magic, the miracle, at the beeb, innuendo, wembley, made in heaven and live aty the bowl to listen to.I'm not going to listen to the greatest hits albums because those songs will be played on other albums. I'm also taking the time to listen to the best b sides all the videos and live concerts. I may even take a minute of silence at 7.00 clock this evening in memory of freddie but i'm not yet sure on that one though. I know it sounds stupid but its something to do and hey, Its for the best rock legend in rock history EVER!!!!!! |
GTboy 24.11.2004 15:15 |
One glass of wine...QUEEN II playing...a simple heartfelt 'Thanks, Freddie!' - and on with the day. |
Vad 24.11.2004 15:55 |
Instead of mourning about Freddie's passing 13 years ago, let's turn on the DVD, watch 'We Will Rock You' and celebrate one nice Queen concert from exactly 23 years ago, with a big big smile and a glass of champagne. That'll do it. That's the right way to remember this great man. |
deleted user 24.11.2004 17:07 |
Your right. I havn't watched that concert so far today so i will soon. Well done for reminding me. |
LadyMoonshineDown 24.11.2004 17:20 |
I drank some champagne Listened to songs in my car and really.... Just thought about him. But I didn't blubber around like some fool would, because I do not think he would like that. Cheers. |
Monte: Liquorice Years 24.11.2004 20:28 |

Journeyfan05 25.11.2004 15:52 |
I treated myself to "On Fire At the Bowl" today and listened to 'No One But You' and 'Don't Stop Me Now' a couple of times and to the dude that started this topic, don't rag on people for wanting to feel bad. different strokes for different folks |
dragonzflame 25.11.2004 16:12 |
I drank an entire bottle of Stolichnaya in bed because i couldn't face getting up, while wearing a yellow Magic Tour jacket and singing Noone But You, Bo Rhap and Mother Love alternately. I felt it was a very appropriate way to spend such a black day (although not as good as Archie's reenactment of Freddie's last hours) and I'm disgusted that the calendar company that made my calendar didn't mention it. Actually, I completely forgot until I went to bed. I was too busy with mundane activities like house painting and new-job-training. Ah well, there's always next year. |
Journeyfan05 25.11.2004 16:48 |
haha! |
Awesome-O _4000 25.11.2004 22:34 |
Man, there was no one like Freddie. But he died with a bang. I'm not sure he would have wanted to live to be old and frail. |
brENsKi 26.11.2004 09:03 |
he didn't die with a bang...he withered away slowly - a horrible and lonely, debilitating existence knowing death is not far away until finally.... not being able to go to the toilet without help having to be fed, being almost blind, mouth and throat full of ulcers making talking/breathing/and eating impossible he must have longed for it to be over no if anything he faded slowly - and did not go with a bang |
mike hunt 26.11.2004 17:26 |
the greatest front man in rock history, he lives on through his music, we'll never forget. |
redyfredy01 26.11.2004 17:41 |
wow, what ever country you live in, you are slow, because in America the 24th was yesterday. |
redyfredy01 26.11.2004 17:53 |
Freddie is the only famous person i ever cried about. He is the only famous person that i listen to every day. he is the only famous person that i draw portraits of (besides the rest of Queen.) And i just can't help but think he is watching his fans from Heaven, and he is the spirit that lifts me up of my feet when i am down. I love you freddie and i am one of your biggest fans. I can't get enough of your music. |
brENsKi 26.11.2004 18:29 |
