Have you seen the BM soapbox today....? link I think this was a decision taken some time ago. But they are slowly prepearing our minds for the forthcoming steps........ And I have to say: GREAT!!! |

I have to say....oh shit. |

Could be worser! I have not yet heared the HOF performance, but Paul Rodgers has to me on of the best voices in Rock...but will it suit to Tie your mother down? |
Jjeroen 21.11.2004 09:36 |
First, this is what I wrote in another threat: Wow! I've been a heavy critic of everything BM and RT have done for the last couple of years. Some things that are happening lately sometimes made me feel nearly ashamed of being a Queenfan. But what I've just heard, made me smile big time! I mean, this is a band thats worthy! I'd love to see them record and tour. Indeed, like GH says, Paul doesn't want to sound like Freddie, but he needs not! This is a singer that would work in this band that played there last week. It's not Queen, but it's a good band in it's own right. Also Brian and Roger (the whole band for that matter) finally sound well-rehearsed and a tight unit. I think the 46664 gig was the first time since the 1992 Tribute concert there was a spark of magic in the air. This show was the second spark! Again: not seeing this band as 'Queen' (and not wanting to see it as such) this is the kind of collaborations that do justice to both RT and BM, the band ánd Paul Rodgers as musicians! Rodgers is worthy playing with BM and RT, and judging from the Hall of Fame show it works the other way round as well. It's not Paul Rodgers fronting Queen, it's BM, RT and Paul R playing in a band together. I've been listening to the show over and over again and I'm confident: YES this is finally a band that I would want to go see! Good thing they played more then just Queen songs. If they record some new stuff without trying to copy Queen whatsoever I'm sure it got stuck in my player. Add some Queensongs and some classics like All Right Now and tour not too large venues!! I realy hope there will be more fruits from this collaboration. (if only it were to forget about the musical cast, Titney-Beyoncé-Pink, 5ive and all the others that got involved with 'Queen' and are absolutely below standard. BM and RT deserve better and Paul Rodgers sure is a healthy party) |
Adam Baboolal 21.11.2004 09:39 |
I think the alright now performance shows that they're very capable of doing something great. And the previous singers that joined Queen have been just that, singers. Paul is a musician who can actually talk to the guys on a different level. He has credibility, which is also why I think he'd be fine with many fans. Peace, Adam. |

Queen and Paul Rodgers? I'd say Brian May, Roger Taylor and Paul Rodgers. I have enough of Brian May using the Queen name to get what he wants... |
Robin 21.11.2004 09:51 |
After watching the performance, I'm thrilled! They still got it and Paul Rodgers is amazing. I hope they do something together. |
The Real Wizard 21.11.2004 10:57 |
Agreed. This is the best Brian and Roger collaboration yet. I really hope this does well! |
Fenderek 21.11.2004 10:58 |
If it's true I'm gonna say- YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRING IT ON!!! No more "maybe Robbie" or "maybe George Michael" bullshit anymore- let's do sth with a real rock voice, with an extremely talented vocalist, with a REAL PERSOANLITY!!! I don't think they could find anyone better!!! |

Yes, that's good news but they need to hurry... Waiting for the Hammer to Fall... They're approaching 60 y.o ! Maybe next year? Do U think they already worked on something ? They sounded very very confident and well rehearsed... |
Henrik Szoke 21.11.2004 13:48 |
Maybe it would be better if Brian and Roger dont use the Queen name. Original Queen does not exist anymore and it can never be the same again. I would just like to remember them as they were - unrepeatible. |

I've been on the fence about Brian and Roger coming back as Queen, but if it's got to be with somebody, I think Paul Rodgers is a great choice. At least it's better than seeing them with any more soon to be washed up popstars or half the cast of We Will Rock You. And it gives some of us who never had the chance to see Queen live see a part of the band do something other than promote the musical forever. |
KingMercury 21.11.2004 18:41 |
THIS IS THE WORST THING THEY COULD DO IF THEY WANT, BRIAN & ROGER COULD PERFORM WITH PAUL RODGERS, BUT NOT UNDER THE QUEEN NAME THEY'RE BREAKING HIS PROMISE... IN 1991 THEY'VE SAID THAT THE'VE LOST THE MOST LOVED AND IMPORTANT MEMBER OF HIS FAMILY, AND THAT QUEEN DIED WITH FREDDIE. I'M NOT AGAINST PAUL RODGERS, FOR WAHT I'VE SEEN HE HAS A GREAT VOICE, BUT QUEEN IS FREDDIE, ROGER, BRIAN & JOHN |
MetzgerR 21.11.2004 19:00 |
To be honest, were this ever to get past being just talk, I would probably be excited enough not to care in the least what they called themselves. I was born too late to ever experience Queen - Queen as in Freddie, Brian, Roger, and John - but I would still give anything to see that maybe a post-Freddie kind of experience will be possible. ...I'm not certain that makes any sense, so please excuse my horrid grammar and disconnected thoughts. Ja ne. |
NOTWMEDDLE 22.11.2004 01:08 |
Paul playing with Queen would be kick ass. Paul is one of the best rock singers and his voice is still intact and doesn't look 55. |
Brian_Mays_Wig 22.11.2004 01:21 |
Thats because hes had lyposuction, a hair transplant and grown a goatee, look at him now compared to guitar legends! |
Jjeroen 22.11.2004 06:00 |
Come on guys... I know; i've got the same feeling. But can't we just foreget about the use of the name 'Queen' for a while? What's realy important right now is that finally, for the first time in years n years, BM and RT are doing something great musically. Let them play more magical stuff and we'll see about the name later on. Let us not forget that no recordcompany nor any gig promotor would want to work with them when they NOT use the Queen-name. They would want to work with 'Queen' but not with 'BM and RT'... It's their bad luck that May and Taylor doesn't sound as good and familiar as for instance Page and Plant... Mind you that whenever these guys will do SOMETHING lots of money is ought to be made. Hell, there may even be some passage in some piece of paper that states that whenever they do something together (BM and RT) they are obliged to use the Queen brandname. I don't like it eather, but it's just business. That's just how it works in the business... And besides: at the Hall of Fame gig they were there to accept an award for Queen, so it's not wonder they were billed (and played) under that flag. Recording or playing new stuff would shine a different light on it again. (wow, I notice how fast I can be turned back into a positive attitude towards the guys after only one gig of three songs!! But hey, it's just that I finallky heard a spark of magic that gives me hope for the fututre after those shameless collaborations and that musical-shite...) |

Can someone please post what it says. My computer won't let me see beyond October on Brianmay.com and on Queenzone all I can see is very old topics from about a month ago so I don't know what the hell is going on. |

Ha Ha Ha "Ashamed to be a Queen Fan" - Bollocks - "I Wish Brian would stop using the Queen Name" - Bollocks he can do what he wants with it, it is his & Rogers afterall!! Forget it guys they will use the Queen name because it will put bums on seats and it will carry more interest for Joe Public!! I think they will be a huge success again - here's hoping for some new material!! Hey if you don't like it teleport back to 75 and stay there, Time waits for no one!! Life Goes On!!! |

Thou wish ist my command, Lord: extract from link "**Sat 20 Nov 04** QUEEN AND PAUL RODGERS QUEEN and PAUL RODGERS Folks.... I wish I had time to answer all your amazing responses to our appearance on that rather strange "UK Hall of Fame Awards" show. I think the less said about the show itself the better, but it's only now that I realize how much you guys loved seeing Paul Rodgers with us. So many of you have jumped in and said you want more of this. I must say my family and friends thought the same. And, without making any promises, Roger and Paul and I are definitley intrigued by the possibility of trying more of our material together, and more of his too. For me it's a total joy to play those Free riffs which were so influential and inspiring to us, even before we were called Queen. And Mr. Paul Rodgers brings such thought and feeling to our lyrics, with probably the best white blues voice ever heard in these lands... - it's a joy to hear a real interpretive singer at work. Maybe this is just pipe-dreaming. But the possibilities are there. Possibilities for making real music. So.... we shall see! But thanks for such an overwhelming thumbs up. Cheers Brian" |

Rich Tea - I agree!! Go B+R!!!!! |
Rich Tea 22.11.2004 18:03 |
I Just think that if they do play live and they use the Queen name I will be happy to add it to the number of Queen concerts I've been too. Lets be honest we all know Queen died with Freddie but I'm one of the privlidged ones who saw the band from 73 onwards many many times there are millions of people for whom this will be the nearest they will ever get to sharing a small part of that legacy. We are never going to see the original band again and that legend is firmly routed for all time. Brian and Roger are not getting any younger so if its going to happen it has too be soon. Enjoy it for what it is its only a bloody concert people get so excited about these things!!!!!! |
karen 22.11.2004 19:02 |
I couldn't agree more "RichTea" - it is only a concert - I can't wait to see Queen in any guise or name, as long as it is the great Queen music & maybe new stuff too!! Hooray! They had better come to Australia!! |
Daburcor? 22.11.2004 22:57 |
I liked this and all, But what I'd REALLY like (or maybe that's love) is if they worked with Meat Loaf! I know I can't be the only one that thinks that combo would rock. ;) |
Shay 23.11.2004 01:01 |
Paul's also a good frontman....not in the same category as Freddie or anything like that, but I've seen Bad Company twice when they did their reunion tour a few years back and they put on an awesome show. He do the whole mike-stand twirling thing and really played to the crowd. And, the guy has an amazing voice...he sounds better today then he did back in the 70s w/ Bad Company |
rachael mae. 23.11.2004 02:57 |
I wouldn't mind if they recorded new material, but I'd hate for them to do other Queen songs. In my opinion, those old songs are best with Freddie's vocals, and Freddie's vocals only. I'd maybe see them in concert though, as it would be a good oppurtunity to see Brian and Roger. |
The Mir@cle 23.11.2004 04:03 |
So Freddie is death and we have to bury his music too? Come on, we all want to hear Bri and Rog play all the great song live with a good singer. Freddie wouldn't mind that at all. |
Hankster 23.11.2004 09:01 |
I totally agree with The Mir@cle! If Bri and Roger didn't do all this stuff (the good and the horrible ones) than the music would be dead. Ye, we would still listen to it, but most of the 'just-listening-to-the-radio'-people wouldn't know Queens' music very well. And right now, Queen is still alive; The musical all over the world, every day you can hear a Queen song at the radio, people are going nuts when Bri and Rog are performing somewhere; That's unique. And I really don't like most of the post-Freddie stuff, but it was one of the things that make that Queen is still in the spotlights. But now they did a great musically thing at the HoF. And that was great for the fans, so I would love to see more Bri and Roger and Paul collaborations. |
Magik 23.11.2004 10:03 |

...one man - one goal - one mission... ...one voice - one hope - one real decision... ------------------------------------------------ I just heard the news by coincidence after having checked the german TV-link of ZDF where Brian and Roger appeared yesterday at "Wetten dass..." and giving at the same time the brand-new promise of touring in 2005. Well: WOW !! I never had expected something like this again, after the special history of QUEEN and Freddie's leaving in particular. But I just want to say to all of you here in that forum: we will see what happens next and one shouldn't rush things. Despite all discussions about the name and also the obvious sometimes a bit funny actions of B+R in the "POST-QUEEN-ERA": maybe a NEW TOUR with a new singer (well, for me as a german he is quite unknown, but obviously great) could just give at least us, the younger generation, a better understanding what it really means to "play and perform music" - and that after such a long time. 12 years off-stage... So hopefully aware of the special, means great and also sad history of the band, I just hope that they will perform. And not to make more money with it, but maybe to give even a more clear sign concerning our "today" with splendour but also sadness, tragedy and unkindness everwhere around. A clear sign of honestly played music. A sign of hope. With no exaggeration. "Released masks. Destroyed fears." Just "growing-old human beings" rocking again this world. So finally: YES, why not: BRIAN and ROGER, give us the promised "one (well, maybe even world-wide) vision" !!! ------------------------------------- Or said in Freddie´s vocals: "I had a dream when I was young - a dream of sweet illusion - a glimpse of hope and unity and visions of one sweet union..." |
tomnever 11.12.2004 21:51 |
Yeah ! QUEEN will tour again. I can't imagine what's on John's mind at the moment. I hope he will join in. |
michelleegan 15.12.2004 12:38 |
We all know that know one will ever have the personality or range of Freddie. He was one in a trillion and he can never be replaced. However, I don't think Paul is trying to fill Freddie's shoes. He is simply reignitiging songs that we all miss so much. I never experienced the magic of Freddie and original Queen so if this is my chance I shall take it, thank you very much!! Nothing can match the origianl but just to hear the songs, guitars, drums etc etc will be brilliant!! Lets hope John will become involved too!! |
brENsKi 15.12.2004 13:08 |
although john has retired...i would hazard a guess that - unless he has lost a hand in an accident with a buzzsaw, then most people do have a price and for one tour - surely it could be worth it.....maybe retired really does mean retired in this case ...and not in the black sabbath/deep purple/kiss/the who sense |
hitman_killer 18.12.2004 12:27 |
Queen? You cannot call Brian and Roger: QUEEN Queen isn't Queen without Freddie! Queen died together with Freddie, and John; You are a wise man! I think Brian, Roger and that Paul guy are gonna bring the name Queen to a very low point! I loved Queen as it was! !!!Freddie was Queen/Queen was Freddie!!! |

Inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be flaking - but my SMILE still stays on... ----------------------------------------------- Of course it won't be QUEEN as in the years before 1991. There is no way of turning back the wheels of time. But that magic, intense and honest music can maybe smooth a new way of understanding for today's grief - in regards of course to AIDS and all the other sad things happen in our world... And IF there is a way to help people in a new, this time in a really responsible way - yes, they should do it - just as a clear message, coming from their hearts to us, the growing generation... So "from already grown-olds" to "growing olds" :-) But anyway, we ARE living today in a dangerous world where shown RESPONSIBILITY and CARE is important. Maybe more important than ever. Maybe just that would be a reason to see them (B+R) on stage again together with Paul Rodgers -besides all quibble over the name and the story behind the music itselfs. ---------------------------------------------- "SO LET QUEEN LIVE. AND MAKE A BRAND-NEW START." !! FOR THE GOOD. ------------------------------------------------- Through the sorrow, although our splendour - don't take offence at my innuendo... |
