I just downloaded the Hyde Park Vcd torrent .. you guys and gals are so great ....I must say ... this concer .. beings it is from the ANATO tour ..its absolutly stunning and the best was yet to come at that point .. i prefer 70's Queen .. and this by far is tied as my favorite concert along with Earls court ... but this version of You Take My Breath Away is the best version of it I heard and just think that it was performed before A day at the races was even released makes it that much more astonishing .. even as Im listening to The Prophet song as we speak .... I dont understand why they didnt perform the songs this way in the latter years .. yes the set lists changed .. but they gave it a different view from the album cuts i think ... and there are some songs they coulda kept playing even in the 80s and I think Freddies voice would have held up....especially during March of the black Queen and Flick of the wrist . ok once again sorry for the lil ramble .. im just in shivers from this .....
Now to my shock i also see the parts that was cut in the middle of the Somebody to love video ... most of this stems from hyde park .. its kinda neat just to see this concert n such and not just bits and pieces .. and as far as this footage since it does exist ... im ready for them to bring this out on Dvd .. this would be an EXCELLENT addition to the collection im sure of it.
Very excellent!
I love it. It was very similar to the one on the album because of his beautiful falsetto.
Extra addition:
I think Freddie in Hyde Park is still the most beautiful of all time, of all the singers including female ones
Ya , acctually the Earls court version of this song isnt that bad either ... i always wanted to hear that one because I have the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert Dvd and they play the intro to the song from Earls court on Disc 2 , and I finally came across an mpeg version of it after a year of search and my was I glad to hear it in full both the hyde park and earls version of this song bring absolute shivers to my spine i prefer it live over and all above the album version of it .. dunno the album version seems a lil too over the top to me .. but all n all it would still be a good song either way.
The Hyde Park version of YTMBA is better imo because Fred did sing the high notes. In fact they hadn't recorded the song yet. As an interesting note, the intro is based on the Japanese pentatonic scale.
Ya Sebastian , your right on with that ... thats why the hyde park version was so unique , as I said .. it was before this song was recorded .. so yeah , it is infact the better version of the song ... and i will once again repeat the fact that I like the live versions of this song better than the acctual album cut
I love seeing him singing with his playing piano.
I wish I saw him playing the other songs featuring his piano mainly such as "Nevermore", "Jealousy". I also wish I listened to the "Love Of My Life" played with his piano on the live show, the live versin of which is now famous for the duet with Brian and is also my favorite.
off course that version is very good. But there very many other godd versions of that song. It seems that most of you guys havn't heard so many shows from that era. But listen to the copenhagen 77 gig, that's a very good on too.
I do have the copenhagen version of You Take My Breath away , its almost a duplicate of earls court , only in copenhagen they dont have something that sounds as if a cable snaps midway thru the song like in Earls court..right when that sound happens Freddie looks up like "what the hell" then goes right back to playing.

You must remember, the whole concert does not exist in that quality in the archives. The portions in the STL existed because they preserved the STL video itself, not the HP footage.
I prefer Earls Court version to HP one...
That's all i've got to say...
And I don't like HP performance in general- don't think I'v eever heard worse versions of "Flick Of The Wrist" or "Sweet Lady"...
Ya , Sweet Lady and Flick of the wrist was one of those tricky songs that I dont think they got the hang of till later shows I didnt like Sweet Lady on Hyde Park either ... Prophet song on the other hand i liked on Hyde park and prefer this version over Earls court.

Was just stating if they ever could find that footage. It would be nice. Of Course only Roger And Brian would know for sure ... and probably wouldnt release it anyhow just for the poor content.Meaning either bad sound or just bad camera angles n such. To me if it was released id buy it bad sound or what not just because its vintage Queen the way I liked them , with Freddies long hair.

Yes! If it was released, I would buy it, too for sure! And I agree with you about its "vintage".
Come to think of that, I prefer "Earl's" to HP as a whole. But it was also a very memorable concert and I think it is worthy of their legend.
Of course, it goes without saying that I do hope "Earl's" will come out.
