Take a look at one of the new entries on Bri's "letters"-page (the one titled "hackney empire"). I guess it takes quite a pair of bollocks to write something like this...and to publish it. link |

Brian doesn't seem at all phased. Roger on the other hand is preparing dinner. |
Lester Burnham 18.11.2004 19:38 |
What's he having? After having read that again...holy shit. Amazing. Quite a tounge-lashing Brian received, especially about physical appearances! Hahaha. |

That boy has balls, no brain but balls. On the other hand, good on Brian for putting it on the site. Not all famous rock stars would have the guts to do that. |

No wonder stars get sick of their fans sometimes. I bet there are a lot more where that came from that he just hasn't posted. |
YourValentine 19.11.2004 03:15 |
That's incredibly rude. Typical online/email insults from a guy who would probably not say a word if he ever met Brian in person. But behind their keyboards every loser feels entitled to hurl abuse at other people. Really disgusting. |
trustno1 19.11.2004 04:39 |
But isn't it what we'd all like to say to Brian if we weren't so polite? |
Fireplace 19.11.2004 05:28 |
Brian has been slagged on this board for his rants, but you just gotta love his reaction to this one. Stylish! Seems he has more trouble handling press criticism than fan criticism. |
Mayboy 19.11.2004 06:52 |
Not being funny but there are probably quite a few Queenfans that think along the same lines |
KillerQueen840 19.11.2004 07:00 |
Ugh, that was horrible! Brian was so kind to not get defensive cos I know he could've easily make that crude person look even worse. People like him should go out and get a life other than spending their time insulting hard work. And making fun of their appearances, that's almost as bad... >:-O |

if a person thinks a certain things about something he have to be free to write it |

Mean Mistreater 19.11.2004 09:02 |
wow...that was a little harsh about their appearance! that part at least could have been left out! |

I'm proud of Brian for taking the high road and not giving that person a lashing, as he's been known to do to people that disagree with him. Still, it was a harsh comment and I have to wonder how it affected him. Do you think these types of comments ever make him re-evaulate what they've been doing? |

Wow. I know Brian mentioned that he a letter yesterday cheered him up. I thought that whoever wrote it had their valid points (and there were some) destroyed by the vitriol and arrogance of his attack. It's been a common battleground here over who or what Queen is or was. I agree that Queen were 4 members. They ended in 1991, regardless of what anybody thinks, and it's an emotional issue. Plant and Page could recruit the drum machine programmer from the Human League and the bassist from their local pub and call themselves Led Zeppelin. Whether that makes them Led Zeppelin is a matter that is up for debate. However, for him to tell Brian that the people who bought albums from '73-'91 define Queen is incredibly offensive. And it's also a proven fact over history that people age. For him to even mention appearance is disgraceful. I agree with the writer that all of these appearances as Queen and the bad choices for collaborations do dilute and damage the legacy. However, if Brian feels differently, and God knows he does, it's up to him to do what makes him happy. Brian touches a nerve with people because he's the least likely rock star in the world. He just seems like a decent guy, and I'm sure it hurt him to read such a painful attack. |

I totally agree with that letter 100 fucking per-cent. They should be ashamed, ever since they started using the name Queen as a twosome - and they look like crap! Robert Plant and Jimmy Page never used Led Zepplin as a name after they disbanded. Im sure that that letter is probably playing on Brians mind - Im glad this guy had the balls to vent his anger! |
Brian_Mays_Wig 19.11.2004 13:24 |
Wow, i must have been thinking the same as BHM :D |
Lisser 19.11.2004 14:04 |
I usually keep my rude comments to myself, so even if I thought this I'd not take the time to email Brian about it. I just don't think its necessary. People always do what they want to do anyway regardless if they are rock stars or not. |
moonie 19.11.2004 14:33 |
Okay,so maybe the personal attacks were out of order, but as a Queen fan of over 20years and counting I can see his point.Queen as a Real band ceased to be in November 1991.Rog & John have every right to perform together but to call themselves Queen when performing alongside the likes of 5ive and others is out of order. What next? Queen & Busted? Queen & Girls Aloud? I mean its not like they need the extra cash for Christs sake! |
moonie 19.11.2004 14:34 |
I meant Brian not John.I'm at work doing 10 things at once! |

I agree that "Queen" as an active band does not exist with Freddie nor John, but what Brian & Roger do is down to them. I personally ignore the "Queen +" collaborations and have done since Queen + 5ive in 1999..... |

I don't get it. They started out over 30 years ago doing what they wanted. Because of the coices they made along the road, we all became fans (I'm assuming everyone here is a fan, though sometimes I'm not sure). There were no polls taken to see what was to be next. I don't think they sent out surveys to see how the next album should sound. Now people feel privileged enough to actually write Brian and directly tell him what to do. What's next? A TV show 'Queen's Next Move'..."Call in now and vote!"?????? |
The Fairy King 20.11.2004 20:51 |
Mixed emotions, the guy's got a point...about the name that is. But talkin about how they look and telling them what to do is very disrespectful and harsh and the nerve of him thinking he can talk for the rest of us is just not acceptable! I don't like most of the Queen+ stuff, but Awardshows and tributes are great and i'm glad people are still interested and paying attention to Queen and Brian and Roger being involved in stuff that's being released etc, would we have these great dvd and cd releases if Brian and Roger would have been retired back in 92, i can assure these releases would have had less attention and quality. |
