I'm a fan from Japan. Anybody please tell me if those names Scaramouch, Gallileo Figaro and Beelzebub have any historical meanings or any literature background. And what is Fandango? How about Magnifico? |

i think freddie sings "galileo "cause galileo was perseguitated for his idea against the church, the pope. i think there is alink with omosexuality. if you listen to boh rap,i think it speaks bout omosexuality.i am not kidding you. in the first verse there's a man who says to be sorry to his mother."just killed a man" imh it means i 've killed the man i was and now i am like a woman cause i love men. in the ooperatic section we are in hell.there is process against the man who says "let me go".the church has always cndamned gys people and in the song he sings "belzebu has a devil put aside for me" |

Yeah, sure. Not as if they only were mock-operatic exclamations... Figaro (as in Mozart's Figaro's Wedding) is a barber, by the way... |

Thank you Gabliel. I was just talking to my friend who is another fan of Queen. He said this song might be something to do with homosexuality. I said no way then, because as long as I know he was straight till he broke up with Mary Austin in 80. But your translation is very interesting and perhaps right. I read somewhere that Bri commented this song is Freddie himself to an interview. So??? |

If I'm not mistaken Galileo has something to do with JESUSCHRIST!! King of the Jewish, he was called a Galilean....you can find it on the Bible, thanks. |
My Melancholy Blues 19.11.2004 20:28 |
Yes, "Galileo" reminds me "Galilean" which means Jesun Christ, if so...but, who knows? Freddie might expect people who hear it would find various meanings of their own in it... "Bo Rhap" seems to be just Freddie himself...the more I listen to it, the more I'm sure... |
My Melancholy Blues 20.11.2004 01:13 |
"Galileo, figaro, Magnifico"...their words have the same rhyme...what if that's all? Anyway, lots of people have tried to give their explanations to each words, which I have also read before...but who knows? There is no doubt about that "Bo Rhap" is a sort of reflection of his way of life, his background, himself... But, there may be many interpretations about it, imo, which would be OK. :) |

The omosexuals and gys are disgraces to everything they stand for. Now, the homosexuals and the gays on the other hand are a very lovely bunch. What an inane thread this has turned into. Might as well bring back WKMahler and his interpretation of 'Bohemian Rhapsody's lyrics as being an admission by Freddie that he has AIDS. |
My Melancholy Blues 20.11.2004 02:02 |
I heard something one day about "Fandango"...the song "Big Spender" which Freddie was singing as he was doing kimono-strip is one of the tunes from musical "Sweet Charity". And it is played by dancers in the club named "Fandango club". That's the very interesting episode about him as one of the biggest fans of musicals. Besides, it's more interesting to look up and think about each words if you like, even though it would be within the range of "it may be" and "it might be"... By the way, I also used to do it :) Thanks! |

It's obviously he killed a guy by giving him the disease!... Freddie had great psychic powers. He knew he was gonna die of AIDS, even if AIDS hadn't been discovered by then. Unfortunately, he knew his fate was unavoidable, and if he wasn't gonna get AIDS by having sex with guys, he was still gonna get it from a blood transfusion. So I guess he was wiser, he has chosen the most pleasant way to get it. Another proof of his psychic powers is the fact he knew, back in 75, he was gonna be the lover of a barber, Jim Hutton, hence the "Figaro" thing in BoRhap. |

I'd like to show some quotes from the Bible which I found one day, though it may be too much. For example, "They spat on Him" and "I will precede you to Galilee." and Beelzebub can be seen in it. I think Freddie was inspired by the Bible to some degree. However, even though he used those quotes, it seems he wanted to inform in silence about other things, maybe, that have to do with "himself". But again, who knows but God? |

If it's not about him getting AIDS it's about him being like a woman. Listen carefully now boys and girls. Although I don't know the hidden meaning, in words it is REALLY obvious what it is about... The start: (Is this the real life?) is just the starting point. Next verse: (Mama, just killed a man) is just a man telling his mother he has just killed someone, and that he has thrown his life away. Next verse: (Too late, my time has come) is about him knowing he is going to get caught OR he is going to kill himself or something because he knows what he has done, and he sometimes wishes he had never been born because he has made a mess of his and his life. Opera section: Part jiberish, part fancy words for the sake of using them. But basically he has been arrested or something now. But 'Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightning me' could be referring to some sort of capital punishment (electric chair anyone?) or maybe something to do with God, not quite sure. Then he is saying I'm going to hell for my crime (has the devil out aside for me). Rock section: This is the man saying he doesn't want his family or friends or anything because he isn't going to die. He going to escape (get right outta here). Last part: Coming to terms with the fact he is about to die. And that now, nothing really matters. As far as I'm concerned thats what I have always felt Bo Rhap was about, in words anyway. And for all the explanations I have seen, that is without a doubt the one that makes most sense. He wasn't saying he was like a lady now, or writing about the fact he had AIDS 16 years before he died of it, 12 years before he first got it, about 9 years before he got HIV, and about 6 years before anyone had even heard of the disease! Phew... |

Thank you for your ideas and comments guys. So things are getting much clearer to me but one more thing. Who do you think Freddie means by "you" in the rock part (So you think you can stone me and spit in my eyes.So you think you can love me and leave me to die)? I used to think it's about a girl he loved but now I am totally confused! |
My Melancholy Blues 21.11.2004 01:39 |
He belonged to the minority about the religion, the sexuality and the background...imo, the word "you" has something to do with it. It seems...the clearer things are getting, the more confused people are...too much thinking will kill your feeling... I've written too much. Thank you! :) |
