I heard Bohemian Rhapsody, Prophet's Song, and Death on Two Legs, but never really cared for any of them... And then I heard We Are the Champions on The Queen Collection...Hearing the Royal Philharmonic play Queen made me listen to them again, and I am now quite besotted with them (and I am also very fond of those three songs, to say the least)! Ja ne! |
FriedChicken 17.11.2004 09:52 |
No song, But hearing that Freddie's last words were 'pee pee' really did it for me....a true hero |
MetzgerR 17.11.2004 09:54 |
Well, it was at prom, and I was more interested in the guy I was dancing with than the music! Also, in my defense, I'd never heard of Queen before, and thought it was several songs, not one. I will admit that now, looking back, I'm shocked at how little I cared for Queen when I first heard them...but I had also never listened to secular music before, so that was a big thing for me, too. Ja ne! |

I have listen to A Night At The Opera for a long time. I liked listen to it but I wasn't a fan. And then I heard the Greatest Hits album and I just liked the music very well. I think there wasn't just one special song that confirmed me as a fan. One day I just wanted to know more about this band and I just fell in love with this music :P |
brian_may_wannabe 17.11.2004 10:07 |
Listening to No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young) when watching the We Will Rock You musical. I already knew Bohemian Rhapsody, Under Pressure, We Will Rock You and We Are The Chapmpions, but was never paying much attention to them until I'd seen the musical. Just a few weeks before I watched the musical, I saw videos of Somebody to Love and You're My Best Friend and fell in love with them. |

I agree Killerqueen. A great way to close Queen: doing a song for a member of the band, such a rare ocassion. |

I remember my next door neighbour sitting me down nearly 30 years ago and putting a pair of headphones on me. That was the first time I heard The Prophets' Song. It was pretty spectacular, and nothing like anything else I'd ever heard. |
Wouter 17.11.2004 11:39 |
I think it was "The miracle", which someone put on a tape that came into my possession for some reason. I think that IWTBF and RG also played a role. |

sorry - from a mouldy oldie - i heard SSOR - and loved it - completely (spring 74) then later that same year 74 - Killer Queen got me hooked, somehow, Now I'm Here (until a couple of years after) completely passed me by...then in late 75 i remember tuning in to TOTP to see THE video - cut n pasted and sliced and diced to fit the end credits of the show because the sad-arses at the BEEB got fed up with it's reign at the top |
Joma 17.11.2004 12:49 |
It really was We Will Rock and We Are The Champions from Live Killers.... still is great! |
Martin Packer 17.11.2004 14:57 |
Killer Queen - but at the age of 12 I didn't like the fact they didn't smile. But Bohemian Rhapsody cured me of that reservation and I was totally hooked. |

The first Queen song that I heard(besides We will rock you and We are the champions) was Who wants to live forever. Then Friends will be friends and then Bohemian Rhapsody. But.. When I heard No one but you(only the good die young) I just fell in love *-* and now my favourite is Mother Love :P |

First song I'd heard was Mustapha (not the whole Jazz, only this song) and I'd thought: wow, it's good one. And then I heard the whole ANATO and The Prophet's Song did it. I remember how I was amazed, like it was yesterday. And it's almost 25 years now. Jeez :-( |

Philipp Nothaft wrote: Let In Me In (Your Heart Again) did it for me....Might this be "Let me live"?? The first Queen song I ever heard was Bohemian Rhapsody, and I was an instant fan. Luckily for me, I'd just won a prize at school of an album of my choice and so I bought ANATO the next day. The rest, as they say, is history... |

It's so catchy! And the bass line is great, too. Too bad it was completely overshadowed by everything else on The Game! |

I heard "One Vision" in 1986 and was hooked...but didn't seriously start to listen to them until "The Miracle" was out. Then it was "I Want it All" that hooked me...I've never looked back since ;) |

HahaNovember Rain's one of my favorite songs. I love Guns N' Roses. :) Axl may have caused some drama, but he was definitely an amazing lyricist. Okay, back on topic! Yeah, The Game was too short, but not as short as The Works. I think that album was barely a half hour long. With all the songs they got rid of when they were recording, I'm sure they could've come up with another few. |

At about the age of 14, hearing BoRhap when it was released as a single was the "hook", then the aNatO 8-track was the "line" and a little later the SHA 8-track was the "sinker". |

When I heard Bohemian Rhapsody, Under Pressure and Bicycle Race coming from my sister's radio on a recorded cassette. As a result, I asked my older sister to borrow the 1981 Elektra cassette copy and made myself a copy. My mom barred me from listening to Queen when I was a kid because Freddie was bi. However after my parents split and I went to live with my father, he uplifted the ban. |

I had already heard CLTCL when it came on the radio, but never cared too much about it... When I got my cousin's 45 collection, i found CLTCL 45 between other Queen 45s, and I thought "Hey I think I know this song...". What I can say is i really listened carefully to it, and was rather pleased. I decided to check the B side... It was a song called "We Will Rock You (Live)" I still remember the first 60 seconds... I was blasted away! It sounded so powerful! What a prodigiality of energy! Who were they? Were they the same who played CLTCL? After that I decided to check my cousin's Greatest Hits LP... No need to say I was hooked immediatly when I heard Bohemian Rhapsody. Pure genious! |

Another One Bites The Dust hands down. I distinctly remember when the song was released. I heard it on the radio one morning when my mom was taking me to Kindergarten. Not long after, I saw a double feature of Superman 2 and Flash Gordon. The only thing I remember from that night was the Queen music. |

Well, I've heard Queen many times, We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Miracle, etc. But the song that secured me as a fan was...well...Action This Day. Not only is it one of their best songs off of Hot Space, but also it proves that Queen can dominate both rock and dance, which is very tough to do. Plus, the beat is so infectous, it's too good! |
RockitPJ 18.11.2004 21:06 |

Bohemian Rhap.......in 1992......then I knew about We will rock you and We are the champions but did'nt know those songs were from queen....bought the greatest hits the same year and I became addicted to the band....Still addicted to it. |
veronica58 19.11.2004 01:41 |
Bohemian Rhapsody, for sure. What led me to Queen tho was Freddie's Mr Bad Guy...my mother was OBSESSED with "I Was Born to Love You" (she still is). She's the only person I know that likes Mr. Bad Guy more than any of the Queen albums. |
Mr Fred 19.11.2004 05:38 |
Well. Omce I was in the musicstore, for buying a beatles record. But they didn't have what I wanted. So I thought that maybe something other would be great. My musicteacher in school had once said that Innuendo was good, so I bought it. And when I listened to it I thought it was amazing, until that day, the best record I've ever heard. And thats the way it went. Since that day I am a truly queenfan. |

not really any song in particular. when i was a kid my mam had the greatest hits on tape, recorded from my uncles original vinyl. my older sister started to listen to it. to be honest, at that age hearing something like that when all you've heard is pop and radio, i thought it was pooh. But as i got older and listened to it more i grew to love it! so for me GH1 |

It was Seaside Rendezvous to make me like them - and only a few minutes later, Good Company got me totally hooked. When I heard BoRhap (immediately after it, twas on my ANATO vynil), I already was one of the biggest fans. I've been loving them for more than 2 yrs, which is a very short time for those of you who are fans since the 70s, but I never had any passion to last that long. It's a disease, but I don't really wanna be cured... ever! |
mrbadguy86 20.11.2004 08:03 |
It wasn't a queen song I heard first time I begin to LOVE Queen, it was the solo album from Freddie Mercury called Mr Bad Guy, funny thing, but it's true:) |
peetz 20.11.2004 08:07 |
I was raised on queen's music, and never really thought about it as being made by real people - it was, to use a cliche, the soundtrack to my early life. Then as I grew up I looked for new things and 'grew out' of Q. Then sometime around the late eighties somebody who didn't know my current tastes gave me a video for my birthday. It was Queen live in Montreal 1979. And that was that. I was blown away - again. And I realized that real music doesn't go away, or go out of fashion, and that charisma and talent go beyond age and trends. Then Innuendo was released and when I saw the video on TV for the first time, it hit me the same way Bo Rap must have done when I was a kid. Then Freddie died... And that's all I have to say about that. Thanks to all who have shared their tastes and experiences on this topic. |

I want to break free, back in 1990 when I was five. I saw the IWTBF video and got totally hooked. They're making my life more beautiful for about 15 years, and hope they will as long as I live:) |

Another One Bites the Dust, wore out many 45's of that single, as well as many needles on my record player.. and then seeing them LIVE in 1980 in Detroit Michigan.... that was the final nail in the coffin.. I have been hooked since.. |

I remember I liked the "Innuendo" video when I was a kid. But I haven't really listened to music then. Of course I remember Freddie's death - everybody talked about it then. But I became Queen's fan a few years later. I guess it was 1995 when I heard their "Greatest Hits II" compilation. It made a big impression on me. Then I listened to "GH1" and I was hooked. I loved "Another One Bites The Dust" (and I still do). The radio is playing "Seaside Rendezvous"! |
