Well, what do we all think of the new DVD? Have you got it yet? Freddie looks great and their timing is suberb. Top stuff
Personally, I love "Save Me" What about others?
Hey Karen...
Yeah, MK rocks!!!
Although when I was watching the Freddie "games" part with the crowd my mum gets all flustered and violent with me and says, "Turn it off!!!" Again I get ostracised. But yeah, Freddie was great, and I love Rog's vocals on Action This Day.
Superb!
Hi Karen!
I agree with you. It rocks absolutely!
Freddie's voice is so great from the opening till the end! Surely he was at the top condition.
Hero is very cool, which was the excellent choice for the opening number. Besides, many numbers are bloody cool, as far as I can recall now, such as Action, Staying Power, Sombody To Love, Love Of My Life, Save Me, Fat Bottomed Girls and so on... It surely proves that Freddie was and are still one of the greatest singers being outstanding so much in both heavy numbers and quiet ones.
You know, Brian (yes, Brian May) has a lot of intersting stuff to say on his website about the DVD. (BrainMay.com) - I think it is under the soapbox section and you may have to scroll back to about Nov 1st. Titled "Off the cuff comments about the Bowl" or something like that.
He sounds really proud of what they did (as he should be!!)
I'd like to add a few more words...to tell the truth, I've found myself having been deeply charmed again with other members, Brian, Roger, John to see it.
And I've been seeking for proper expression about Freddie's vocals, which I can hardly give in English...his voice had the luster like one of pearls. He must have been conscious of his excellent condition at that time.
Suppose they were in their almost best condition, it was really a shame that they had no concert in 1983 till august in 1984...
I'm afraid I've written too much...for which their great work of it has been to blame. :)
Great! But I'd like to watch some more bonus stuff on second disk and I can hardly understand why interviews were edit and why 'Live in Japan' was edit too.
I'm watching it right now, and I'm wondering why John never seems to change his outfit. Brian changes at least twice, so does Roger, and John's still in his same blue pants and shirt! (Actually, he was wearing it on the We Will Rock You DVD, too!) Why is he so attached to his blue? Just a completely random question. :) That and why in the world was Freddie trying to eat Brian's guitar during Sheer Heart Attack?
I bought both "Fire at the BOWL" and "Live Aid" DVDs from Amazon, and it's free shipping:) Very good deal indeed.

Congratulations!!! You are the 100th person to bring up this Topic!!!!
I don't mind tho. The DVD was fantastic!!! Since I live in the US, I got it and Live Aid in the same day!!!
I turned up the volume and watched MK. it was quite good. I LOVE Queen's entrance; flying in on a helicopter was totally cool.
Queen, were of course brilliant, but the audience was also good too (I have a somewhat strange interest in watching the audiences of live concerts, even when I'm there). I esp liked the girl who was holding up the rose for Freddie, during the singing 'games'(IMO the audience as whole were quite good at that) and when someone threw a hat onto the stage and Freddie picked it up and wore it.
The UK PAL version is a lot cleaner and clearer than the Hollyweird Records version. The audio can blow you out of the house and down the street if you turn it up too high!
It gets released in Canada today (the DVD). The CD's been out for two weeks, though I've yet to see it enter the HMV music CD charts in-store (GVH2 didn't make the music DVD charts in HMV when it was released last year, though for a few weeks recently they had it on display on the wall shelf where they usually display the best selling DVD's of the period (surprising, IMO))
Perhaps HMV is intentionally being biased against Queen? Or am I being paranoid? :P
This is the best of all concerts that I've seen by Queen by far. They played tight and Freddie's vocals were on!!! No one, I mean no one commanded an audience like Freddie did. He's the true #1 ICON.
I did a review on both the DVD and the CD on Amazon so if you guys get a chance check it out and do the vote at the end. A lot of positive reviews from true fans!
IY, there were no sales on the US release (DVD or CD) at any of the chain stores -- not even Walmart! It was totally ignored, while this time last year GVHII was everywhere and trumpeted on every sale circular in sight.
It's a pity US record companies don't make more of an effort to promote Queen product...
At last, I have it. Amazing to see Action and Back Chat performed on video. Disc 2 isn't bad, but not nearly as great as Wembley's disc 2. Superb release, nonetheless.
