John Deacon is the only smart one out of the remaing three. Brian and Roger look act like two old washed up rockers. I like the play cos it keeps their legacy alive, but other things like working with spears and pink, also they play same songs we will rock you and champions over and over. while john has simply let go of something that isn't there anymore. |
Whatinthewhatthe? 14.11.2004 19:52 |
(what???) Yeah, our John's smart all right. He has nothing to do with Queen save for collecting royalties, and the other two (still very active and keeping Queen in the public eye) working hard on Freddie's legacy...and keeping a promise. They are not washed up in any way. I think they're very smart and shrewd businessmen who fight for what they believe in (Queen) and that's keeping the music going and introducing Queen to new audiences throughout the world. John is not smart, he should be joining his bandmates. He was one-quarter of Queen and should be active in everything...but that's his decision, one I am sure he's bound to regret someday. |
KillerQueen840 14.11.2004 20:00 |
I have to disagree. All of them are smart. Atleast Brian and Roger are trying to keep Queen's name alive. I know Queen will never be Queen and so do they, but by still making public appearances they are reminding people of a great band that was once in existance. However, I don't like how they did get together with Brittany and Pink..ugh. |
pepe_botella 14.11.2004 20:03 |
I don't completly agree with you MourningElektra, i think that John DEacon as done nothing to keep freddie's memory, but if you think that playing with Robbie Williams, Pink, Britney Spears, Beyonce will keep alive freddie's memories i think your so wrong. They should stop fooling around with this people and start a serious Rock'n'roll project, and everybody would be so gratefull. |
Whatinthewhatthe? 14.11.2004 22:28 |
That's true but here's my point: no matter who is singing it, the music's still there and ongoing. I would dearly love to hear some new music from Brian and Roger, and I'm sure there is some since Freddie's death, but we will simply have to be content and wait. The guys have been as busy as when they last toured as a band. Even though we've been hearing some Queen music in different formats by today's "artists" (ha!), I think it's great that Freddie is being remembered daily (along with the rest of the band of course), not just as "that band from the 70s and 80s" or "the singer from Queen who died of AIDS a long time ago". They have endured over thirty years and will continue to endure as long as people will enjoy their music. I rather like the symphony versions as well. I just pray no-one ever records a *gag* country version of any Queen song! But if they do, they should do it with style. That's all that counts, dear! |

I think Brian is really smart. He is really nice, and gives good advice. Roger is smart too! |
deleted user 14.11.2004 22:45 |
If Johnny Boy was so smart, why did he wear those horrific short shorts? |
Roy ® 15.11.2004 02:40 |
All three they are smart. Brian and Roger for keeping Queen alive in our memories and bring out new stuff. John for doing nothing, enjoy his family and keeps his hand up for the royaltys. |

We had this discussion many many times before.... I'm getting tired of it. |

Brian and Roger have done great things to preserve the Queen name(the concert reissues and the play and AIDS charities) but some actions were not cool(playing with Five(the UK equal to N' Sync), Robbie Williams(not Pink Floyd's longtime tour manager but the pop star) and the three skanks(Britney, Beyonce and Pink)). I can't agree with everything Rog and Bri have done since Freddie died but for the good ones they are worth it! |

Dwight Yoakum? *snicker* About at country as Billy Ray Cyrus... Pass the barf bag! |
Whatinthewhatthe? 15.11.2004 18:28 |
Brian and Roger are doing the "commercial thing", being diplomatic and staying "with the times" by collaborating with the flavours-of-the-moment. Gee, if the Spice Girls hadn't fizzled out so soon they probably would have done a version of WWRY as well! Remember, Brian gave glowing reviews about Avril Lavigne...God only knows why! A lapse of judgement perhaps? |
deleted user 15.11.2004 18:46 |
I guess he just likes her music. Nothing wrong with that. Taste is relative. |
GonnaUseMyPrisoners 15.11.2004 19:33 |
QUEEN IS DEAD. Though I will never cease listening to their recordings & watching their videos, Queen is "live" no more. I wish Roger & Brian would MOVE ON, reband AND >>>RENAME<<<. MUSE, on the other hand, played here in Chicago Saturday night and were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. White Hot. Razor Sharp. Sonically Astounding. Technically Stunning. And very much ALIVE. Equalling even Radiohead among my favorite modern rock bands, I daresay. I pledge allegiance... |
mike hunt 15.11.2004 20:52 |
would I like to see the WWRY show? yes, there are things that they did that will keep Queen's legacy alive, but it's proven that they are has beens without freddie, that's a fact. Brian singing we will rock you (songwriters hall of fame) was sad. If there's any music left from freddie obviously I wish the remaining Queens would finish those tracks, but i have no desire to see them tour, a shell of what was. |
Yogurt 15.11.2004 21:09 |
If John didn't stop playing with Queen, Then Roger and Brian wouldn't be with Brittney and Pink. Now Thats a Smart Idea. (Go back with them John!) |
egret 15.11.2004 21:30 |
Y'know, probably even if Freddie had lived, and Queen with all four original members were lumbering around the world in between hip replacement surgeries, we would still think some things they did were uncool. It's not like they were ever the coolest band in the world. A fun band, yes, always, a good band, certainly, and I loved them dearly, but they were never really "cool." As I remember, anyway. ::ducks people who will now explain how they were so cool, ok:: --Egret |
Lester Burnham 15.11.2004 21:36 |
Cool?! Queen were so cool, they..um... *sneeze* They were hardly cool, but they didn't try to be cool, which is cool in and of itself. |
GonnaUseMyPrisoners 15.11.2004 22:19 |
They didn't try to be cool? OK, I might agree with that to a point; but how the F*@& else do you explain Hot Space? That was the most calculated attempt to conquer the market of their careers! Forget whether it failed or succeeded - it's "new direction" was a deliberate attempt (esp. by Freddie & John) to capitalize on how cool they felt having had such a huge hit with Another One Bites The Dust. |
egret 16.11.2004 00:52 |
Oh c'mon. Are you questioning Freddie Mercury's sincere and heartfelt dedication to disco music? He was disco way after disco was cool. Hot Space showed a real commitment to the genre. I can't believe you would ever think he was only boogie-oogie-oogieing for the cash. I of course have no actual knowledge (though I'm sure someone here will) but couldn't you just as easily argue that the unexpected success of AOBTD gave Freddie & John license to go further into the dark side that is disco? That is, if Freddie & John are to be seen as the guilty disco-ers while Roger & Brian are the innocent rockers, characterizations that could be called into question under the Britney Spears collaboration rubric. --Egret |
deleted user 16.11.2004 10:16 |
Good point, egret. I think the risk they took with Hot Space was far greater than the success they could expect. The commitment to black music (with Freddie and John at least) is all there, way beyond Hot Space. |
GonnaUseMyPrisoners 16.11.2004 12:22 |

I of course have no actual knowledge (though I'm sure someone here will) but couldn't you just as easily argue that the unexpected success of AOBTD gave Freddie & John license to go further into the dark side that is disco?Seriously now, I'm not sure I understand the distinction, but I think that's what I'm saying... but they were "disco poseurs" and they know they had no business trying to conquer the genre... trying to be cool. But I think they learned their lesson, as evidenced by the Miracle & Innuendo gradually returning to their older styles/strengths. That is, if Freddie & John are to be seen as the guilty disco-ers while Roger & Brian are the innocent rockers, characterizations that could be called into question under the Britney Spears collaboration rubric. --EgretOh, hell NO! I'm not saying they weren't ALL guilty of ALARMING LAPSES IN TASTE at one time or another (especially recently). I was just picking at the "cool" point with the example that was more or less supported by the whole band at the time (John & Freddie guilty of penning the most uninspired disco tunes on the record, hence my blaming them). What these other 2 geezers do now, well, ... god bless them. REINVENT. REBAND. RENAME!!! |

The only Whot??, Please darling how you nad define----Smart--- thats depends the way you observe this word... He is probably smart in the finantial way, probably he invest the money and today have a good rent, and he dont need to work in the old hard job. . . He is Probably smart in the art subject, cause he dont wanna repeat the old themes one and once again boring people, and givin a chance to the new talents, but... to be honest the new generation is the gilty of these kinds of phenomenon.... NEW GENERATION DO IT WELL!! to not alow the old, very old people retake the job and recue our ears of all the music trash... so John is not the missing in action, he was missing in disaction.... HE DICHO..... |

Brian May and Roger Taylor doesn't HELP Freddie Mercury and Queen in the Media, they only go for Mercurys stardom and money now I think... Queen isn't Queen anymore! Queen was dead when Mercury died in 91'!! Because THE QUEEN WAS FREDDIE MERCURY!! |
