Look at Brianmay.com people. Some of you maybe already noticed but Brian actually changed the answer he originally wrote on his soapbox in response to rumors after Cologne Press Conference. He originally wrote "None of this is true", and then this morning I wake up and there is "None of this is strictly true". And more - these sentences : Roger and I "both would like to tour, but there are still no firm plans .... we talk all the time .... And ... well, we may indeed work with Paul Rodgers, and it may be soon! But again, "replacing Freddie" ?? well, no!" I think it's the first time Brian is so "precise" about "rumours" like this. I don't know what, but something's happening. Cheers, and let's hope we won't be disappointed. |

That would be fantastic but I don't think I't will ever happend. Queen isn't queen without Freddie ... or John... |
PabloArg 07.11.2004 09:09 |
Let's try to not discourage this idea. Those who don't share this movement, just don't buy any new album and don't go to any concert. But please don't call it bullshit before it happens, privating it to those interested. |
Adam Baboolal 07.11.2004 09:20 |
Well said, PabloArg. I too, believe in a wait and see attitude. It makes no sense to damn something before knowing what it really is. I welcome it and also do not discourage the idea. Those who keep on about "replacing Freddie" are still holding onto something that doesn't exist. And like it has been said over and over, if you don't like it, don't participate. Peace, Adam. |

grapefruit wrote: That would be fantastic but I don't think I't will ever happend. Queen isn't queen without Freddie ... or John...Your right, but i think they should think about zomething like another Tribute Concert. All those personns simply couldn't replace Freddie, so one person could never do that. So if you want to play, play one night with all kind of artists. Invite George Michael, Bono, Elton John, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Beyonce (not her voice, but because she's popular and looks sexy) euhm Roger Datlry, Antony (RHC Peppers) Ian Hunter, James Hetfield (Metellica) Ozzy osbourne (and give him some bats, would be funn) Michael Jackson (give him some children would be funn aswell. and Bryan Adams, Sting and Rod Steward (All For Love) |

Tomnever: I know it's getting boring, but I seem to be starting each new post or reply with "I am a Stepford...", and I think I do that to make my criticisms seem more palatable. But the sad truth is it was Brian May HIMSELF who: "...actually changed the answer he originally wrote on his soapbox in response to rumors after Cologne Press Conference". He originally wrote "None of this is true...", which was ammended to "None of this is strictly true", which transformed into "we may indeed work with Paul Rodgers, and it may be soon". This to me sounds very like the theme tune to "Malcolm In In the Middle", - "Yes, no, maybe, can you repeat the question?". I know that I am a dinosaur - but why all the cloak and dagger - why all the secrecy? What is wrong with a good old fashioned straight answer - to a direct question? I can't see how they can complain about rumours and misinformation - if they are the very guys to start them in the first place! Don't get me wrong, I do support the guys, and I too would gladly pay for my ticket to see them perform live. But it is after all, "Only a bloody record", not matters of state security, so why the need for all the misinformation in the first place? |

Neither Brian or Roger can be forced by anyone to tell them anything. They may be working on something, I can sure believe that. A lot is going on behind the scenes before any news or actual product is released. That's the way it always has been in that business. No use in telling anyone before anything seems to be possible to realise. But Queen also has been the masters in keeping the minds of their fans busy, and yes, keep them waiting. But in the end they will deliver. Don't worry. |
Stu 07.11.2004 20:17 |
I have to admit that I find it hard to imagine Queen without Freddie, however the output they have delivered without Freddie at the forefront whilst he was still with us has been generally good and above and I believe Roger and Brian do have the ability to peform as a fitting continuation of the Queen legacy, after all, their contribution has been responsible for some of Queens best known songs (We Will Rock You, Flash, Radio Ga Ga to name just a few) and Im more than confident that Brian could deliver interesting and new vocal touches to the likes of We Are The Champions and elements of Bohemian Rhapsody. Im prepared to wait and see, no doubt the opinions of the outcome will vary but geez, wont these shows (should they happen) be a lot of fun? |

WELL LETS IMAGINE THAT BRI & ROG TOUR AND THEY COME TO ARGENTINA I WOULD GO SEE THEM, BECAUSE IM 24 YEARS OLD AND I NEVER COULDNT SEE QUEEN LIVE BUT...QUEEN ISNT QUEEN WITHOUT FRED & JOHN AND I DONT WANT THEY TO MAKE NEW SONGS I WANT TO KEEP THE QUEEN'S IMAGE THAT ALL OF US HAVE FRED, BRI, ROG & JOHN PLAYING LIVE TO MILLIONS AND I DONT WANT PEOPLE SAY THEY RECORD NEW SONGS UNDER THE QUEEN NAME ONLY TO MAKE MONEY IN FACT, I THINK THEY DONT NEED TO MAKE MONEY ANYMORE I THING THE GUYS COULD LIVE WITHOUT WORKING SO I DONT THINK THEY RECORD NEW SONGS ONLY TO MAKE MONEY BUT I DONT WANT TO REPLACE FREDDIE FREDDIE CAN'T BE REPLACED AND I WOULD BE ANGRY IF BRI & ROG REPLACED FREDDIE THEY SAID IN 1991 THAT THEY'VE LOST THE MOST IMPORTANT AND LOVED MEMBER OF HIS FAMILY, SO QUEEN DIED WITH FREDDIE I HOPE THEY'LL NEVER BREAK HIS PROMISE I THANK TO BRI & ROG TO KEEP QUEEN ALIVE...THEY ARE WORKING TO KEEP QUEEN ALIVE IN PEOPLE'S MINDS BUT LET FREDDIE & QUEEN REST IN PEACE |
VGB 07.11.2004 21:21 |
wow uh...CAPS...yeah... my ideas...roger and brian record some new material under some other name, go on final tour calling it "The Queen Tribue Tour" playing new material but mostly old material...don't bill it as Queen, cause its not, bill it as "The Queen Tribute Tour" or seomthing...i dunno |
Megamike The GREAT 07.11.2004 21:42 |
Alright, Lets say they do tour.. the question is.. what do we do to them if they skip the USA again.. I have been a die hard fan since 1980, and then 2 years later they perform in the USA as Queen for the last time.. they blame the fans.. lets place the blame where it needs to go.. PROMOTIONS.. when Brian toured for his Back to the Light tour in 93 I never heard a THING about it until the day AFTER the concert left Michigan.. I say DUMP Hollywood Records if they can't properlly promote a band as HUGE as Queen or their Solo works. I make this following promise.. and I mean it, if Brian and Roger tour again and skip the USA and Michigan in general, I will destroy EACH and every Queen item I own, and I will mail it to the fan club. As I said, I have been a loyal fan, bought every release like a good boy.. most times on the day it was released, but my patience is wearing thin... American Fans.. we need to unite and show Queen productions LTD that we are NOT going to be ignored again.. |
VGB 07.11.2004 23:29 |
hahaha you should be lucky Queen love the midwest for some reason, they were only in Colorado twice (ironically the first time they ever played the US was in Denver, and the second time they played Denver was their last US tour.) unfortunately I was not alive for either. |
Lord Blackadder 08.11.2004 13:53 |
If they toured I would like George Michael to sing with them. His voice is the next best thing to Freddie for singing Queen songs. The three he sang at the Tribute were Brilliant. But I just want new Queen music. NOW! |
gnomo 08.11.2004 14:22 |
... FWIW, my understanding of what happened is: 1. the news of definite plans for new album and tour were a reverse-translation of a German press conference report back into English; 2. at that Bri replied "none of this is true"; 3. the German journalist who wrote the original report in German e-mailed to him and pointed out that his report had been mis-translated and provided the correct translation into English; 4. at this, Brian acknowledged that the original report correctly reported what had been said at the press conference, that is, Roger and he are talking about new material and live performing; 5. Brian then corrected his statement into "strictly true" out of fairness to the journalist, because the reverse-translations wrongly stated as certainty what the original report had reported correctly as possibility. Did I miss something? Thank you everybody. -- Gnomo |
Hankster 08.11.2004 14:22 |
George Michael is good .. very good .. But only for a couple of songs .. the real Freddie songs. For the Brian kind of songs (TYMD, WWRY etc.) his voice just doesn't fit .. And besides that; I believe George Michael never does a tour .. so I don';t think that he will ever join Bri and Rog for a Queen-tour.. Robbie Williams is far to busy with his own stuff for a whole tour .. so he's not an option either .. but hell .. what are we talking about? There aren't official plans for it :P |
Borhap80 08.11.2004 14:46 |
Jeff Scott Soto og Paul Rodgers sounds good.... I'm not that keen on Brian and Roger singing too much... maybe the odd song here and there.... They can sing but they shoud concentrate on what they do best - their instruments... |
karen 08.11.2004 18:25 |
Hey - isn't any live Queen music better than nothing??? This is evidenced by the huge support for tribute bands around the world - maybe one of those singers could join Queen - it doesn't have to be someone famous. Or someone from the "We Will Rock You" shows?? Of course Freddie was unique and special, but don't you want to hear the music live again??? Maybe Brian and Rodger aren't sure what to do so they can't give any definite answers yet - but I am sure just by their comments that they would love to play live again, they just have to sort out how they can do it the best way.... If they do, please come to Australia!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Fenderek 09.11.2004 08:16 |
I would love the tour- under one condition- no Robbie Williams... Geaorge michael- I would lov eto hear him trying "Stone Cold Crazy"- that would be hilarious... Paul Rodgers- well, that's so much better than Britney or 5ive...!!!! I'm huge fan of his voice- even if it's only one song (that's what I think)- that would be great! |
gabriel79 09.11.2004 08:24 |
a tour?it will be difficult to me because it's not easy listen to queen song by a different voice.new stuff is alright but old songs?can you imagine bo rhap sung by a man who's not freddie? |
Fenderek 09.11.2004 08:46 |
I don't need to hear BoRhap, to be honest- not my fav Queen tune... Same with Champions or Ga-GFa- in fact I would love the gig if instead they played some less obvious tracks like "White Man" or "Sleeping On The Sidelwalk"... Or- like in Moscow- Zeps' "Rock'n'roll"... |
k-m 09.11.2004 16:29 |
I just hope these rumours will never come true. I would never like to see Queen perform live again. Queen was Brian, Fred, Rog and John. I saw "Queen" perform some shitty song Say It Isn't So at the 46664 concert. That was crap! I appreciate John a lot, because after Freddie's death he only got involved in the most neccessary stuff. He didn't take part in re-recording of e.g. "We Will Rock You" with freakin' Five or "We Are The Champions" with Robbie Williams. Frankly, I have no fucking idea why Brian & Roger recorded those shitty versions of such amazing songs. They were reasonable through all their career, and now... I don't know what's going on with those guys! |
Rich Tea 09.11.2004 17:01 |
If you don't like it don't go the choice is yours!! I for one will go and enjoy it for what it would be two very influental members of the greatest band ever, performing material that they had a very big part in creating. I'm sure Brian & Roger will be too upset to do anything now following your pathetic remarks. |
k-m 09.11.2004 17:27 |
They'll be upset? Oh well... |
tomnever 09.11.2004 17:40 |
Someone to sing with B&R ? 3 words for me : JEFF SCOTT SOTO He's the man. |
Dubrock Orwell 09.11.2004 17:50 |
I certainly don't like those rerecordings of old songs with 5ive, George Michael or Beyone/Briney/Pink. The new songs for 46664 or pretty good though, just a shame they are available as a studioversion yet. The Call and Amandla are pretty good! When they record a new album with such kind of songs it would just be great. Say It's Not True isn't the best, buts still a pretty nice song! |
