I've seen some people see it as a bad song. Well I DISAGREE! Is one of their best songs!!! What do ya guys think about it? |
agneepath! 11994 30.10.2004 14:10 |
... I didn't think it was possible to have a "least favourite" song from ADATR. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 30.10.2004 14:35 |
I never liked The Millionaire Waltz for the longest time, but after really listening to it, I've found that I love it. The switches between ballad to hard rock and then back again are just great. And Freddie's vocals are amazing. |

The Real Wizard 30.10.2004 16:16 |
MW is definitely one of the best songs on the album, and one of my personal favourites overall. There isn't a bad cut on ADATR. |
rhapsody__87 30.10.2004 19:11 |
I really enjoy this song. I especially love the bass in it and it kind of makes me want to... waltz. |
Libor2 30.10.2004 19:49 |
I count it as the best from ADATR. For me, of course :-) |
lottie88 30.10.2004 21:25 |
I personally like it a lot. |

It's probably in my Top 5 from ADATR. The only bad cut on that album is White Man, IMO, I just don't care for it. |

It wasn't given the proper attention? |
Sebastian 31.10.2004 01:04 |
I like it a lot. I think though that this song may need a little time to grow on many people, it's not something you normally like from the first time you hear. |
djaef 31.10.2004 01:41 |
I absolutely love this song. Definately in my top 10. While Sebastian says it might be one that could take a while to grow on you, I can't remember a moment when I didn't love it and I don't think it's that kind of song. Rather I think it's a love it or hate it type number, but who knows... I think it is one of the most original Queen tracks out there, pure Freddie class, and one of the best tracks on an absolutely outstanding album. |
Matti 31.10.2004 01:10 |
This song is one of the ones that got me really liking Queen. I love it. |
iGSM 31.10.2004 02:08 |
I quite like it...but on A Day at the Races it simply gets eaten up by Somebody to Love, Tie Your Mother Down, You Take My Breath Away, Long Away and Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy. No wonder it went to number 1 in Holland, England and Japan. Too damn strong for it's own good. |
fat-bottomed girl 31.10.2004 02:23 |
I agree!!! ADATR is my all time favourite album. Its full of really characteristic queen songs. TT is one of the best Queen songs ever recorded in my opinion, and GOFLB, STL, LA and YAI are all SUPERB!!! |
Roger_in_Tigerskin_Trousers 31.10.2004 04:30 |
it's all right not brilliant not bad |
brENsKi 31.10.2004 05:40 |
i think it's a wonderful song - looks like a vaudeville/music theme that freddie had to stick on each of the early albums leroy/seaside rendezvous/millionaire even the blues of melancholy blues has some musichall moments in it - he even drifts into a bit of noel coward |
SilverShoes 31.10.2004 06:01 |
Great, great song! One of the better examples of Brian's "guitar orchestrations". I think I read where he said there was something like 18 tracks of guitar on that one song! |
Brianmay1975 31.10.2004 06:17 |
Great song MW! It's so Freddie style... |
Mr Coolest Cat 31.10.2004 08:40 |
People will always disagree about songs, what maybe your favourite all time song, somebody will hate it, personally i think Millionaire Waltz is a fantastic Freddie Mercury song. |
iGSM 31.10.2004 08:43 |
If you're going to mentioned music hall you should chuck in Good Company and Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon. Good Company is a superb song. No wonder Bohemian Rhapsody blew peoples minds with Good Company before then BR after it! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EPXLSION! |
Flo Joe 31.10.2004 08:49 |
I love MW! |

The Millionaire Waltz is one of the best songs on 'A Day.' What is so intensely unique about this song is the variation in styles and sounds. The intro of the piano and killer bass sets up first time listeners to think that it is going to be something along the lines of "Seaside Rendevous", but perhaps not as funky and slapstick sounding. How it ventures off into a dwindling ballad and increases to a hard rock 'anthem' if you will, and then back to the beautiful sounds of Freddie that had us going in the begining....is simply amazing. Need I mention every tune in that song is sheer bloody poetry? Well...I just did. The first time I heard that song, I fell in love with it, and never stoppped liking it. |
gabriel79 31.10.2004 14:30 |
i think that adatr is better than anato.and mw is a brilliant song |
Music Man 31.10.2004 17:35 |
MW is one of my favorites from that album, and WM is my least favorite. Go figure. |
brENsKi 31.10.2004 17:39 |
wouldn't have put good company in the musichall bracket more george formby |

I've always loved MW. Actually, it's the song I found the most "interesting", when I heard ADATR the first time. It's like BoRhap, a progressive song with various styles. For example: The rock part in the middle... then it changes into the nice little waltz-theme again. :) I think the song should have been given much more attention than it got. It's truly one of Freddie's masterpieces! |
Rick 01.11.2004 14:25 |
I like The Millionaire Waltz, especially the bass-line. It's brilliant, it's very melodic. I also like the hardrocking bit in the middle:-). |
Giacco 73 01.11.2004 14:29 |
It's one of my favourite song EVER. Pure Freddie! |

Hello all.. My nameis Dan I play bass for my newest tribute band ALMOST QUEEN..(link are from NYC and are currently setting up dates in Europe for next year.Puerto Rico in February 2005 for starters... I dont think that people realize that "A day at the races" was composed in the same time frame as "A night at the opera"...and that most musicians/Queen fans consider The Millionaire Waltz pt II of Boheimian Rhapsody. It's a brilliant song..and its my favorite Queen song to play.We are currently adding on new Queen songs to our setlist and this one is on it. please visit us at link cheers! |

Mind passing by Southern California? |

I would categorise GC as musichall due to the humour of the song, but yes..you're right. |
