Don't you think it's time to have one for Queen ?
I mean they've already done Metallica and The Cure, and the shows were really great and it showed how many of todays musicians are affected and influnced by those bands which im sure made thier fans feel proud. and we all know that Queen are far better than any of them with no disrespect to the other bands cause"i do love The Cure and Metallica"... so i think it's not just more than fair to hold such an event for Queen but it's MTVs duty to do so.
and if had to choose the bands line-up these guys will be my first chocies:
Radiohead - The Darkness - Metallica - Velvet Revolver - The Smashing pumpkins (reunion) - G N'R (also a reunion) - Travis - Nine Inch Nails -Muse - Franz Ferdinand - Foo Fighters - Blur...etc and some Rap & Hip-Hop singres just to show that Queen did inspire everyone in a way or another...SNOOP DOG was at Metallicas RIGHT !!!
do you also think this should happen ? and if yes who would you wish to see there ?
I stopped watching MTV years ago, because they started to suck more and more (when "greatest hits" began to mean: 'a song of just a year old'), so I don't know the concept.
Is it supposed to mean that all these crappy bands are going to pay a live tribute to Queen?

MTV sucked big time when they had a poll of the greatest pipes of all time, Fred came 2nd only to be beat by, of all lowlifes here on our planet, Mariah Carey.
I was thinking about that too!
that would be só cool :D especially when Deacy is also there of course!
I think the one with Aerosmith was the Icon was the best show, and if this Queen-icon thing would be something like that .. who .. that rocks :D
And then at the end, when they've played some songs, Bri has some news; "there will be a new album with fred on vocals, they will never do a britney and five collaboration and Bri will never talk about WWRY again .."
some news! :P
Queen doesn't deserve to be an MTV Icon...
... but obviously not because Queen doesn't deserve to be honored, but because it's coming from MTV, it'd be a rather insult than a complment.
MTV IS NOT ABOUT MUSIC... It's all about image.
I didn't know 'The Cure' was given an MTV Icon. Surprises me becauce they totally suck.
Even more after Robert Smith said all that shit about Queen.
Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash will be managed by HK Management (Howard Kaufman) while the rest of the band is going with Irvin Azoff (Van Halen, Christina Aguilera),
does that mean the band have split?

I stopped watching MTV in 1995 - and I am glad. today you only see rap and hip-hop-shit - and not rock and pop like in the 80s
Sorry but I remember there was an MTV Icon (or stuff like that) planned in 2001... with the Foo Fighters presenting a show live from the USA with artists covering Queen songs.
The project was cancelled without any reason.
Do someone remember it too ?

Radiohead - Possible
The Darkness - Definitely, unless you Queen fans still have vendettas against them
Metallica - Yeah (maybe they can ruin another song like they did with "Stone Cold Crazy" lol)
Velvet Revolver - Yeah
Smashing Pumpkins - No, they're done
G N' R - Nope. They're done (unless for Axl's group of flunkies)
others are possible as well
But seriously, MTV wouldn't do that, they're too caught up in their Britney Spears and their Usher to care about Queen. VH1 cares though (watch I Love The 70's and I Love The 80's, Queen is featured a few times)
