Does anyone know why Freddie sang songs live that he didn't sing in the studio? Sheer Heart Attack and '39 are two that come to mind. |
Adam Baboolal 24.10.2004 11:59 |
Uhm... he did sing Sheer Heart Attack both live and in the studio. Peace, Adam. |

Modern Times Rock N Roll, the few lines of Fun It at the beginning of Keep Yourself Alive. and the major reasons I guess Freddie sang them is that 1) Freddie is the frontman, the focus for the audience, who'd probably expect him to sing everything; and 2) if Freddie isn't singing these songs that don't have piano, there's really no point in him being on stage, is there? I kind of doubt Freddie would relinquish that much spotlight time |

gabriel79 wrote: brian can't sing...that's allPersonally, I love Brian's voice, but you do have a point (kinda) in that Freddie's vocal power probably worked much better for concerts than Brian's, for certain songs. |

Brian does not seem to have the frontman blood in him, and Roger still has to play the drums. As for John, hmm... why not? |
LiveAidQueen 24.10.2004 22:18 |
I prefer Brian's voice over Roger's any day... |

have you listened to brian singin tie your mother down at the tribute 1992?or his love of my life at the brixton academy? enough said |

Brian's got a very weak voice, but it sounds alright on the records but too weak for live performances. I like Brian's studio version of '39 a lot more than Freddie's live version but I guess that if Brian had sung it live it would have turned out rather weak and boring... |
Scirocco1977 25.10.2004 10:13 |
I personally think that Brian HAS frontman qualities. I witnessed him once in concert in 1998 in Cologne. Even though he had throat problems he made it a concert to remember. In Queen concerts however, I can hardly hear Brian singing. It is mainly Roger singing the background vocals. And I think it is quite obvious, why Freddie sings most songs. Why take the VW Beetle when a perfect Ferrari is yours, too. |

I do believe it's Roger singing Sheer Heart Attack in the studio. |

I do believe it's not. |

Well, Lester, here's what is said at Queen.musichall.cz about SHA: Vocals: Most of it is done by Roger again. The first verse is sung by Freddie. The hey, hey, hey, hey-parts etc... have got a harmony voice by Roger. In the chorus, Roger multi-tracked his voice (about 4 tracks) and used heavy flanging. The "I feel so" - is done by Freddie again, followed by some harmonies (1 Freddie,2 Rogers), and the "ticulate" is Roger's lead voice. Roger sings the whole second verse (+harmonies). Listen to his great "how I feel" - articulation at 1:43. Till the instrumental break we only hear Roger's voice. After the break there's nothing new. The vocal parts are a stunning demostration of Freddie's and (especially) Roger's great articulation |
BrianRules 25.10.2004 12:45 |
So I guess we're both right, although it says mostly Roger sang it. |

Just imagine: You have both Freddie & Brian (or Roger), then think about this - Who sings better? In my poor opinion I wouldn´t have prefered Brian instead of Freddie singing 39´ in a concert. |

I remember hearing something where Brian said they discussed the fact that it should be Freddie that would handle 99% of the live vocals. Unfortunately I cant remember where I heard it from.... |
SantiagoSienna 25.10.2004 22:30 |
Freddie did "Rock It" during "The Game" tour... |
Adam Baboolal 25.10.2004 23:58 |
"I do believe it's Roger singing Sheer Heart Attack in the studio." Actually, while it is both. It's Freddie on the lead. They both sang and recorded takes for the lead in the song. But in the end they compromised (if it can be called that!) and left Freddie's lead track in. Though, they also edited Roger's around Freddie's track. So, it's not quite near 50-50. Ultimately, it's Freddie. Peace, Adam. |
The Mir@cle 26.10.2004 03:22 |
Brian hasn't a rocking voice, but I must say that his version of Too Much Love Will Kill You during the Tribute concert made me shiver. He can handle such songs very well. |
Scirocco1977 26.10.2004 06:11 |
RE: Sheer Heart Attack. I don't believe it is Roger in the second verse. It is still Freddie. Dunno, where the guy from Switzerland hears Roger there. Well, he is there, but the lead vocal is still Fred. Anyway... |
