Anyone here have this? Any complaints, thoughts, or comments on satellite radio in general?
I hate the idea of paying for radio, but this looks like a pretty good service that I could use.
I was thinking of doing the same thing.
Radio stations have a tendency to play the exact same songs over and over again, and I'm not talking about only Top 40 mainstream.
Even the classic rock stations are way too repetitive with their playlists. Here they play The Stones, and Zeppelin like if there were no other bands worth listening to.
Ok, I got this last week and I love it. Over 120 stations playing all sorts of things, commercial-free (well, almost).
The service is fantastic and is not beholden to playlists like most radio stations are. Media consolidation in the US has watered down what you hear on the radio, leaving the same five songs playing over and over. With satellite radio, I get variety, not only from song to song, but genre to genre.
The kicker is the equipment that you have to buy, which can get expensive. But for someone who spends hours each day listening to music like me, it's a worthwhile investment.
Yeah, Stern's going to be a big draw for Sirius. Personally, I don't listen to that kind of radio anymore. XM has Opie & Andy (for a few extra bucks a month) as an alternative to Stern, but I could care less. It's the music I wanted, and there's plenty of that.
Sirius also has football, but we were more interested in baseball on XM starting next year. We'll never watch TV again.
I kinda like Opie & Anthony better than Howard Stern. Sometimes Opie & Anthony just go way too far, but they're funnier than Howard Stern.
The Howard Stern Show has just become just way too cliche of itself, with the strippers, the porn stars, and the playmates. All Howard Stern does is ask them the exact same questions just to get always the same answers, and it just gets too damn boring.
