Hi what do we think of R.E.M.?
I think most of know that in one of their songs called 'The Wake Up Bomb' there is a line that says 'Get drunk and listen to Queen'.
Has anyone got Around The Sun which is their new album?
I bought last Saturday.
I recommend to all R.E.M fans on this board to buy it.
'Leavin New York' is a great song. I heard it on the radio the other day.
I don't really see REM re-inventing themselves a lot, but yet their style doesn't seem to get old.
We think that REM fucking ROCKS.
We also think that Around The Sun is fantastic.
And we are greatly looking forward to seeing them when the MISERABLE MAGGOTS FINALLY COME TO CINCINNATI WHICH THEY HAVE BEEN NEGLECTING SINCE 1998 GAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHR!
We're sorry - we get a little overexcited sometimes. But you get our basic point.

...now i have Shiny Happy People stuck in my head... -_-
My favorite REM era has to be up until Document.Such a good band playing wierd jangly pop. They were one of the only good things about music in the 80's. I still like them but kind of like Queen nothing can touch their first five or six albums.
REM is a great band with a good live show. Actually I can be seen on their Perfect Square DVD which was released last year, a couple of times! ;-)
Although their latest album is a bit more of what we already heard x times before.
Although I like REM, frankly I don't know how could possibly REM be a great live act to watch when their songs are not exactly that much rocking, with the exception of 'It's The End Of The World'.
If they gave me a pick between seeing REM and KISS in concert, I'd pick KISS a million times over REM. Even though I don't like KISS that much, and there's no doubt that REMs music is much smarter, original, and with far more essence than KISS.
You could say the same thing about Pink Floyd, but keep in mind that without the extremely grand live stage, including the lights, the flying pigs, the lasers, and all that other stuff Pink Floyd shows would be quite boring... that unless you're doing drugs while watching the show, so the drugs themselves would give you the illusion of watching a Pink Floyd show.
