For those of you who missed channel 4 tonight in the UK, channel 4 are running 5 programmes over the next 5 weeks considering the UK Music Hall of Fame.
How it works is that there are 5 founder members proposed by a "steering group" and this is Madonna, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Elvis and U2.
Where are Queen. You may well ask - scandalous! Tonight covered the 90's and this consisted of the same "steering group" putting forward 10 nominees from the 90's (see link below) to enter the hall of fame. Needless to say the nominees are voted on by the great British Public by the usual means.
Next week will be the 80's and thereafter 70's 60's and 50's. It is most probable that Queen will be in the 70's category although arguable that they could be in the 80's as well. Don't know the rules totally but perhaps they could be in both.
Whatever, keep your eyes peeled as we will be against some hefty competition: Bowie, Elton John, Led Zeppelin etc. etc.
We MUST have our favourite band at the top table ceremony in December in London where all acts are inducted. Hey, c'mon even if it is to see Madonna having a go at Roger following his recent comments.
This is important folks - watch this space and get the Queen vote placed at the right time! link
Soul Brother, From what i have heard i’m not actually sure Queen are even up for nomination!! I would take either Bob Marley Madonna or U2 out and replace them with Queen as Queen have made a MUCH BIGGER difference to music than any of these people, and they arent very far behind the Beatles in terms of difference made to music.
QUEEN FOREVER
I saw the trailer for the Sunday show (The 80's) and Queen did not appear to be among those shown (eg Eurythmics, Duran Duran etc.). I am fairly certain that Queen have been nominated by the steering group for the 1970's and not the 1980's as highlighted in the news section of this site. Whatever, we need to be ready to vote 'em in! Queen are undoubtedly more important as worldwide artistes as Madonna.
