Queen's drummer Roger Taylor has supported Elton John in his criticism of international pop singer Madonna.
Elton John made headlines internationally after taking a foul-mouthed swipe at Madonna at the British Q Awards, saying she cheated her fans by miming on stage.
"It is about time somebody said it," Taylor said in Sydney of Elton John's comments.
"It is the worst kept secret in the world and I think there is too much bloody dancing in rock n roll and not enough actual singing.
"So I think it was a very brave and correct thing to say. Maybe she (Madonna) should get an award for dancing but certainly not for singing."
However, fellow Queen band member Brian May said Elton John should have kept his opinions on Madonna to himself.
"I think it was being very unnecessarily bitchy, personally, but there you go," May said.
"If you don't have something positive to say, you should shut up."
Taylor and May arrived in Sydney earlier this week for the opening of their stage musical, We Will Rock You, on Saturday night.

Yeah, I copied it. So what?
Opinions? I think it's right and Roger'd be the one to say it. As Freddie said at Hammersmith 'Sock to 'em Rodge!'
P.S Madonna is stupid. Der, Kaballah! I'm coool. Dumb bitch.

I like Madonna I think she has done some outstanding pieces of music Ray Of Light and True Blue are brilliant pop. But if she does mime at her concerts she is hoodwinking her fans. What is the point of watching someone just lip-synch to their records. The whole point of playing live is to add something different to the studio tracks.
Something Queen did very, very well.
