Of course, classic rock is great, but what are some of your favorite newer bands? Lately, I've been really into Velvet Revolver, Franz Ferdinand, Jet, and yes, The Darkness. Don't kill me! :)
Not necessarily a 'new' band, but I've enjoyed some of Pavement's work for the past two years, in addition to the two solo outings it spawned (Preston School Of Industry and The Jicks). Though they broke up in 1999...still.

not YOU! The Darkness? C'mon! As for me, Los Lonely Boys kinda digs it. Cool, smooth rhythm coming from a Latin group, what could be better! Although, I am afraid that they will turn out into one-hitters...
Norah Jones is nice and cool. As for rock groups, nah. Forget them. They're not as good as before...

Jet, Amblance LTD, Maroon 5, and a lot of other alt rock. Also, I like The Darkness too, as well as the Foo Fighters.
Amanda, I really like Velvet Revolver, and there is a certain G&R quality to them, but they definately sound more like STP IMO.

Franz Ferdinand
Jet

Scissor Sisters
There are so many good new bands coming through at the moment, its very exciting. But who will still be around in 20 - 30 years???
Depends on what you call NEW...
New as from the past 10 years...
- No Doubt
- Smashing Pumpkins
- Green Day
- The Offspring
- The Cranberries
New as from the past 5 years...
- Muse
- Evanescence
- Rooney
New as from one year ago...
- Velvet Revolver
- Franz Ferdinand
- Maroon 5
- Los Lonely Boys (their lyrics in spanish are too cliche though).

Is it true that Velvet Revolver is similar to Guns 'n Roses? Or are they different?
From what I've heard 'Velvet Revolver' sounds more like Stone Temple Pilots than Guns N' Roses.

I haven't had the chance to see them live, But from the album (which I really enjoyed) it just felt like there was something missing... I don't really know how to explain... So I won't try! LOL!
