Out today: Dream Theater - Live at Budokan
Live At Budokan features nearly three hours of great music played by excellent musicians. Give them a try. You won't regret it...Dream Theater is Rush, Yes, Queen and Metallica put together into a great melting pot...
I wish I could!
I'm waiting for months allready, and having the Bootleg of this show, I can't wait to see the DVD.
However, over here it's released on the 15th of october.....
Can't fucking wait to get that!!!!
When I saw them at Hammersmith thay didn't play my fav from Train of Thought- SoC... They did play it, however, at Budokan so- can't wait to hear that in soundboard!!!
But they played "Death On Two Legs" at Hammersmith, didn't they?
I've just finished listening to "Live At Budokan". SOC is great but my personal highlights are Only A Matter Of Time and Hollow Years. BTW, James LaBrie is amazing on the record. He doesn't scream anymore and he hits EVERY high note.
TO ALL QUEEN Fans: GET IT!

I've seen them play Stream Of Consciousness twice now. :)
Thanks for making up this topic, Stephan. You saved me the effort!
John Petrucci's guitar solo in Hollow Years brought tears to my eyes, literally. Such incredible emotion in his playing and body language.
This DVD is DT at their best, and in particular, James LaBrie at his very best.
As for Queen fans going out to buy it... allow me to quote:
"To those who understand, I extend my hand... to the doubtful I demand, take me as I am."
Err, eat my ass and balls!
Let's face it... DT are over the heads of 90% of the listening audience, and that won't change as long as the industry is being polluted with what is currently polluting it. Until that changes, DT's audience will consist mainly of musicians who understand the difference between crap wanking and such quality music.
well, from one point it's only a good thing that DT is not that well known. It would imply concerts that sell out in a few hours, and bigger venues and all. But with this DVD they really should get SOME attention, af far as the setlist is concerned. Most songs are quite radio-friendly.
I really would like to see the big breakthrough of DT on the other side. These guys really are the top players in their field, and from a financial point of view you'd just like to see them score a massive hit. Some reward after all these years would be very much deserved.
I'll definitely buy it.
Willem, I couldn't imagine DT on our big radio stations. Considering the crap they broadcast, it's impossible to hear such music here. It seems it's the same problem all around. Afraid I won't live long enough to hear DT on a commercial radio. :-(

Well, not completely true. I must say that I heard As I am twice on Dutch (alternative) radio, during the weekly metal hour. This was respectively 3 and 2 weeks before ToT was released. So, it did get SOME airplay, just not during the popular hours. That definately needs to change. But then again, I never ever listen to radio, except for the classic rock station, and the dedicated metal hours :)

Yeah, thy made my day with it... And even though thay didn't play SoC I was far from being disappoited leaving the venue!!! The band was in excellent form! That was their second gig during European tour and it was FANTASTIC!!!
DT and huge succes... I just can't see it happening... Ppl want to hear Robbie or Oasis or Franz Ferdinand or other radio-friendly crap... Just recently here in England- every single band sounds exactly the same- Coldplay, Keen, Snow Patrol and few others- this studenty winning is so cool and so fuckin' trendy... and has got nothing to do with qualityu music... Well, what the hell do I know- I listen to some boring, pretentious tarts like Queen, DT or Nick Cave (whom BTW I'm gonna see next month @ Brixton academy)

Yes, I understand such thing is possible on alternative radios. Here goes at TV at Saturday night (morning) special, where it's sometimes possible to see and hear such music. But all in all, on big TV and radio stations here you can hear (see) only mainstream and horrible pop.
It seems we have to find good music by ourselves. Never mind. I used to do it all the time.
