|Hello, what classes are you fellow students taking this year? I have Astronomy, Computer Engineering, Desktop Publishing...etc, etc,... :-)|
|In my college sophmore year I'm taking:
Computer Essentials (I HATE this class)
and Introduction to Education
|I don't have any "cool" classes yet, cause I'm still in middle school and I have to take what everyone else is taking. When I get to high school I want to switch to French (instead of Spanish), and I'm going to take art as an elective.|
|Oooooo, Good Luck Amanda!
Yeah, I guess High School you have a better choice of classes, but they sure do get harder...
|Thanks, Kayla. :^) Are you enjoying your classes?|
|In third year university, this semester I'm taking
16th Century Literature
The British Novel
The Industrial Revolution
Theories of Gender and Sexuality
I hope to be much busier soon... applying to be a TA, yay! Hopefully next semester I shall hold the academic lives of the first year students in the palm of my merciless hand.
|I'm still a kiddie in highschool but I take Latin, Algebra, Intergrated Science, English, Writing Lab, and Religion. Typical classes except for Religion since it's a private Catholic school...but I really DON'T like my Religion teacher! She gives us homework and forgets she assigned it after we do it and then she doesn't collect it. So I hope that I don't get incompletes on the things that SHE doesn't collect!|
|As a senior, I don't have many required classes so here's my schedule:
Creative Writing (online course)
Oral Communications & Writing 101 (college courses for dual credit that I'm getting out of the way @ my school :D)
2 class periods of a "mentorship" with my freshman english teacher, it's like a glorified teacher's aide position but I get unlimited access to the school dark room :D
Major - Biology
Ecology and Evolution
Mother Nature Under Attack! ( kinda interesting)
Critical Writng, reading ,and research ( It sucks)
*Getting drunk :)*
Miss James wrote: Thanks, Kayla. :^) Are you enjoying your classes?Yes, thanks, I think they are alright though Computer Eng. is quite hard! I have to take two maths this year and next year to graduate...*Prays* :-)
Sociology-Women's studies (4 of us guys, 30 of them girls)
|I'm sure you'll do just fine, Kayla! :^)|
|I'm taking Biology, English, French II, Geometry, History, Creative Writing, Journalism, Persuasion & Argument and PE.|
|Pepper, trust a freshamn here - high school is such a huge improvement, if you can just last it out the one more year.
Anyway, course schedule:
Physics I Adv
Algebra II Adv
Ind. Study US History
English I Adv
Next year I'll finally be allowed to take AP classes. I'm looking forward to the day when this school stops treating me like a baby - I had to act like a pain in the ass to get them to let me advance in math.

Well I've reached my junior year and my full schedule is:
1- Desktop Publishing
3- English III
5- Transition to Algebra (It's the same thing!)
6- History 1877-Present
7- Computer Engineering
And the 3rd semester I get 1st and 2nd period changed...
|I'm a 3rd year bio major and am taking
Theology (I go to a Catholic University)
plus 10-15 hours of lab work per week
|You stay busy!|
|In Sixth Form I'm taking:
All A Levels. History is proving very difficult, but apart from that it's quite good. Surprisingly.
|What kind of music class is it?|
|We have to study Popular Music, 2 part counterpoint, we have Performance exams (I'm a singer and I play flute and guitar) and composition tasks. We have to write a bassline for a Popular song (I listen to Queen songs to get inspiration, and it seems to work, the teachers like it anyway!) and we have to write an actual song that can be from any category including Romantic Period (1800's I think), Popular Music (Jazz, Rock, Pop, Blues, you name it) Film and TV, Baroque... the list goes on. It's a very wide choice. I'm writing a song based on a Musical Theatre category. It would be from a Children's Musical (which is accepted) as it is about a fish and a monkey...
We have an exam, we have to have a basic understanding of Theory (they call it basic, but it's actually incredibly difficult) and we get asked questions on our different Areas of Study. At the moment we're doing Louis Armstrong. We have to analyze music notation, etc etc.
Sounds incredibly complex, but I love composing and performing, and I recently did some homework analyzing "Long Away" and got an 'A' grade for it, which cheered me up somewhat. :-)
I don't think I've ever posted so much before... I feel quite weary now. :)
And hi, by the way.
History of the English language
Literature of the Romantic Period
Then only two more semesters and four papers left and I'm through with university! Hooray!

See here they only have 10-12 in the high school, I was a bit shocked when I started here...
|i'm a freshman

maths (my major requiered only one math class and i wanted to get over it as soon as i could)
rethoric and research
philosophy (ancient greece)

i'd like to take queen studies (is there any univ in the world that has it?) i know indiana univ bloomington has romanian studies...:)
|i'm not in college...yet i'm only 13. but, i plan to stay in orchestra for four years!|
|i also have spanish. i have an A- in that class.|
|I had to take Spanish 1, 2, and 3. It was pretty tough, I'm so glad it's over!|
|I had Spanish in grades 5-8... Now I take Latin, and I find it much more enjoyable, but I had A+s in Spanish my last few years and I have an A+ in Latin now, I believe.|
|hey killerqueen840,um...what is the difference between spanish and latin?(i know it's a stupid question.)|
|Fourth year university....
-Principles of gene manipulation (evil)
-Techniques in molecular biology and bioinformatics (eviler--it's strictly a lab course, and I happen to be a complete klutz in the lab)
-Terrestrial arthropod diversity (awesome course!)
-Independent research project on carnivorous sponges. (full year honours project; a lot of work, but very rewarding. I'll likely have a hand in naming a recently discovered sponge, and get at least one scienfic publication out of it)
say-o wrote: hey killerqueen840,um...what is the difference between spanish and latin?(i know it's a stupid question.)Well they are completely different languages, but since Latin is the base for most languages, there are some words that are similar between them... like "amo" and quite a few others.
|WOW!!!thank you killerqueen840! i finally know the differences!|
|Well, a major difference that seems to have been left out is that Latin was spoken by the ancient Romans...and Spanish is spoken in all modern Hispanic countries. Latin is a dead language.|
|Oh yes, you just had to bring up the fact that it's a dead language... :-P|
|StrangeQuark, I do not envy you your courseload at all! Goodness, I'm glad I'm sticking with an 'easier' major...
I'm taking (this semester) Discrete Mathematics I, Elementary Spanish II, American History Pre-Civil War, General Psychology, and Basic Geology. It's a nice simple load for my first semester in college...
Next semester, I'm hoping to get at least one ballet course, and I'm also planning on taking a basic/beginning piano class. And finally get into the Calc class I've been waiting for since I got here...
Oh well, after seeing what so many others are taking, I've just realized I lost my right to whine about my classes. That's a depressing thought...

But of course, I missed highest honors by a stupid 89 (off one freaking point) in Religion..but that's because the teacher is nutty and forgets everything..I won't go into detail for the sake of all of you.
