Hey guys, I've been a massive Queen fan for almost 3 years now, but my mum, dad and brother still think Queen are some sort of joke, (especially my brother) doesn't realise that they are one of the most influential bands ever...
Any thoughts?
This post it's okay in this section.
I don't have the same problem as you. I've been practically born with Queen influence through my parents and familly. They all admire Queen so I have no complain. It's a shame your family doesn't like Queen but you musn't give up Dan!

How old is your parents? My dad and my mom were teens when queen was at their heyday. Dad likes classic rock, Mom likes pop, so it kinda augmented when I started my interest, you know what I mean?
My imediate family is fine with Queen (as a matter of fact my mum and bro are really starting to get into them). However, my cousins tease me, say how there are so many better bands, etc. You learn to put up with it.
My family just find it amusing that most of my favorite bands were around before I was. My mom likes Queen, though, so she doesn't mind too much when I make her listen to them.

Yeah, my mom sort of likes Queen, although I'd really prefer she didn't. I don't know why. My guess is because she's an idiot. But anyway, my dad is very much the typical homophobic American. Basically wondering how I could possibly think that a gay man sings well. Oh, he also seems to be of the opinion that homosexuals are the ONLY people who get AIDS. Yeah, and all of Queen is completely gay, not just Freddie. *Sighs*

I totaly agree with you on this one..but...im in a pretty good mood and dont want to get all on the kids back so...yea my mom is the one that pretty much got me started on Queen. So she was cool with it for the first 4 months and now she just askes if i listen to anything other than Queen...which in no.
My family just gets annoyed when I get really obsessive. And for some weird reason, my dad hardly knew about Queen until I started getting interested, and they were from his time! Also, when my mom heard CLTCL, she said, "QUEEN did that? I LOVED that song!" I was surprised about how clueless my parents were about Queen. My mom really appreciates them a lot more now. She really loves '39. The only person that makes me really mad is my sister. She doesn't like Queen, just because I love Queen. It's the same with Rocky Horror. My brother likes Queen, I guess. He has better taste than my sister.

Well, I know somebody whose parents don't approve him listening to Queen, but he went on and he's still a fan. So if you really love them, just bear this in mind: the show must go on, isn't it? Tell your family that you are like this and this is your fav band. And be at least happy they don't hate Queen for reasons like Freddie's sexuality (cos I've seen cases like that in my life)...
my parents are okay with queen...
practically, I have become a Queen fan because of them, my mom bought me my first Queen album.
their only problem is that they are quite bored of listening the same MUSIC (and I mean music, nor crap, fag music, or whatever...) over and over again...they both like oldies and they appreciate good music.lucky me...
you should talk to them, make them listen and understand what queen is all about...
Live with it. You're a teenager (I assume) -parents and teenagers aren't supposed to agree on music. Just keep telling yourself you have better taste than your family and think what they miss out on. It's okay. Really.
And anyway, my mum used to make out that she hated Queen but I kept finding that my tapes in my car were mysteriously on a different song to where I'd left them after she'd used the car. She still won't admit to anything...
