Growing up with Queen was always a surprise to hear Brian and Roger's Songs..Just wondering why Rog & Bri stopped singing their own Songs when it got to the 80's?
Also do you think 'May & Taylor' could pull of a e.g ('Simon & Garfunkel') type Duet 'unplugged'.. could be interesting to see them both playing an acoustic set?
A copy of my response from a similar QOL discussion:
"I'm willing to lay money down on the table that Brian and Roger stopped singing their own songs from Flash Gordon on because they were becoming more renowned for their singles, and having Freddie - who's a stronger lead vocalist than the other two - singing lead would increase the possibility for that particular song to become a single. And, if it were to become a single, it would further increase the possibility of it becoming a hit due to Freddie's instantly recognizable singing.
I couldn't imagine Roger singing 'A Kind Of Magic' and it being as big a hit as it turned out to be. Brian also didn't write as many songs as he did in the early days - 'Dancer' wouldn't have been a bad idea with his voice, but he only wrote two whole songs for the next two albums.
It may have also been because, by the early eighties, three of the four of them were engaged in solo projects, and there may have been an unwritten understanding that they had that particular outlet to channel their own lead vocal performances, so why not let Freddie become the permanent lead vocalist now? May be stretching it a bit, but it's not that impossible.
Still, I enjoyed hearing 'Hijack My Heart' sung by Roger, and 'Lost Opportunity' sung by Brian. Made me miss their vocals on other songs."
Thanks for that..
Yes I forgot about the B-Sides 'Play the Game/Human Body..Invisible Man ...I'm Going Slightly Mad and Headlong
But I did enjoy listening to 'Tenement' '39 Sleeping on the Sidewalk' etc back then it was a nice change :)
I agree. Hijack would have been great in lieu of many of the duff tracks on The Miracle (in fact, so would Stealin', My Life Has Been Saved, and Hang On In There - would have added a bit more diversity to the album), and Lost Opportunity would have been better instead of Delilah, while A Human Body definitely should have been on The Game.
Lost Opportunity agree with you totally
Human Body was a waste
Just getting of the track 'Chinese Torture' could have sounded Great leading into 'Was it all worth it' and all those other songs that were recorded around the time of 'Miracle ' etc
Oh well :(

Lost Opportunity was recorded in 1980, for the album The Game. So I don't think there was a chance it would've been on Innuendo
That's what I heard, that Lost Opportunity was recorded in 1980, but it doesn't sound like any of the songs from The Game. Maybe it was remixed by David Richards?
I'm curious about something too: sometimes I have the feeling I recognize Brian's voice on some lines from Las Palabras De Amor... Is this song done similar to WWTLF? Sorry if this sounds like a newbie question, but it seems I can't work it out all by myself...
Btw, I like this idea of the Bri Rog unplugged duet... but this will not happen as long as the musical is on :(((...
Heeheehee. Unplugged. That would be fun, have them singing their own work and stuff -- you know, kinda relax from the whole mess of the musical. Would be a nice booster for fans ... :)

In Put Out The Fire, it sounds like Brian singing 'she was my lover'. And as for Las Palabras De Amor, you can hear him saying 'This night and evermore'. He just sneaks in a line every so often.

About Put Out The Fire: I also had the impression he was singing that line... Thanks for answering my question. I think I'm gonna listen to LPDA and POTF again today...
