Hi!
I have a question; my best friend would like to sing a Queensong but her teacher has told her to sing a song with volume (a 'rock'track). They only have a piano to accompany her voice... Do you know a Queensong she could use (ans if you do, do you have the notes and such things?)
Thanks! :D
(and a hug :P)
Good Old Fashioned Loverboy is a bit quicker and has piano in it, but I don't know if it counts as rock. And Don't Stop Me Now has wonderful piano in it, of course, though it's pretty difficult to sing I should think.
First part of Bohrap - just quit when the opera sets in?
Hmmm... I think we'll wait for some more qualified posters to have their say, I'm not very musical. :-)
I suggest you Don't stop me now. It's basically builted on the piano sound of Freddie. Very good also I'm in love with my car or Death on two legs. I think you can arrange also Crazy little thing (as in Wembley). Or if you know it the Freddie solo track She blows hot 'n' cold. It's a really rock'n'roll!!
Save Me would be my choice, it can stand up all on it's own just using piano and vocal (I've sung it like this and thoroughly enjoyed it).
Also think about Play The Game, listen to a live version (from any decent bootleg, or the WWRY Montreal show, or the forthcoming Milton Keynes official release) and see how interesting Freddie's piano is - this could also be good just piano & vocal.
Good luck ..
I have sheet music for Love Of My Life, Doin' Alright, Too Much Love Will Kill You, and others if you'd like. It should all be on my site under 'sheet music'. link
I see a lot of poppier songs and ballads being suggested. But the obvious ROCK song for piano is Don't Stop Me Now. Not too hard to play and easily likeable for this kind of thing.
Peace,
Adam.

I think my melancholy blues. It's pretty much built on the piano.

Ooh. Forgot about that one. It's nice, but it's got a lot more towards the jazz end of the musical strand. What is she trying out for? Hm. That could help us determine a more suitable piece for selection. :)
Personally I think the following you could do ... (these are ones I would sing myself while playing as well)
1) Save Me (huge range of dynamics - start soft, mid loud, end soft-ish)
2) Dear Friends (short with handy chords)
3) You're My Best Friend (easy to play)
4) You Take my Breath Away (excellent for showing off some cool piano)
5) Spread your Wings (some nice chords - easy to remember)
6) Too Much love Will kill You (Great Song !)
You can find chords to all these at link
If you want a hand with any of the chords or anything drop me an email.
Hi _Amie_,
there are sections of the song which are left for the backing vocals to act as a chorus to the main lyric, it would be possible, but without drums and only on piano I think you would need something extra to fill out the song... its a great song but tough to do solo I think.
