What was your first Queen album that YOU bought and why did you buy it?....not inclucing greatest hits or live ones. Mine was A Day At The Races because I had heard GOFLB and loved it- so I got the album. |

A Night At The Opera i was about 7 yrs old ok..i didnt buy it..my dad did but i wanted it because of the famouse song i heard in Waynes World |
Brimon 25.09.2004 19:20 |
The Game, I love that album, I used to listen to it over and over again. The old vinyls got a few bumps and scratches on it now, but Id rather listen to that than a c.d. its like an old friend, I might not see him as often as I should but I never forget him. |
Penis - Vagina 25.09.2004 19:26 |
Same here Brimon, The Game was my first. I was 9 or 10. I think I had the AOBTD single first though. Shortly after that I was given my stepdad's copy of Queen 1 and listened to his reel-to-reel copies of everything else until I got my own vinyls. |
KillerQueen840 25.09.2004 19:32 |
Well the first albums that I got were given to me but I think that the first one that I bought was The Game. |

The first one I was GOING to buy was ANATO, 'cuz I had just heard BoRhap for the first time on the radio (Spring of 76) and went gaga over it. In fact, since it was all I could talk about, my aunt Linda went out & bought it (unbeknownst to me at the time) because I made her so curious with all my "oh my god, this is the best song EVER, I swear to god it's UNBELIEVABLE" etc.... But there I was, innocently hanging around in my bedroom one day, she pulls up in her car outside the house (I don't notice), and later when she comes inside she teasingly scolds me: "Donny, you always come running outside when I come over to see you and today I have a present for you and you didn't even come out to say hi? Why not?" Would you believe she DIDN'T LIKE the ANATO, so that day she just gave it to me!!! WOO-HOOOOO! My first full-length vinyl LP of choice (which I was saving up to buy, but didn't have to, in the end). I wore it out & had to replace it later on! But the first QUEEN one I TECHNICALLY BOUGHT with my own money was ADATR, having heard Somebody To Love and Tie Your Mother Down on the radio. I rode my bicycle into town (probably 5-6 miles) the first week it was out, was totally nervous buying it (I dunno why). I rode back with it under the handlebars, trying hard not to let it get caught in the spokes. I thought the pictures of the 4 guys on the inner sleeve were scary. Some of the songs scared me, too... pretty powerful stuff for a "teenybopper"! |

My first Queen album was The Miracle and I bought it when was released in 1989.I was a Queen fan since 1984 when Radio Ga Ga was released and I knew something of them even earlier.I followed them trought Live Aid and the A Kind Of Magic era and I liked the film Highlander a lot but I wasn't into music very much at the time, not as now!I also witnessed the Freddie Mercury solo efforts,The Great Pretender and Barcelona but it wasn't until I watched on TV the videos of I want it all followed by Breakthru that I decided to buy my first album ever.It was the sparkle of my neverending Queen legacy! And I still love the Miracle album, too! |

News Of The World, here. Sometime after Freddie's death, I was talking to my mom in her room (I was probably about ten) and we were watching VH1 and a picture of Freddie came up, announcing the Concert for Life. I asked who he was, and she explained what she could - she then gave me a copy of Hot Space to listen to, but I never did. I then heard We Will Rock You in the summer of 1993, and couldn't stop singing it. My mom then bought me News Of The World just to shut me up, I think, but it didn't help - I would play the album non-stop, so finally she took me out to buy me Classic Queen, just so she didn't have to listen to News Of The World on replay every forty minutes. What a lovely woman she is. Certainly not the loser in the end. EDIT: Ah, that'll teach me to read. I can't quite remember which Queen album I personally bought, so I'll say The Game. I recall listening to Rock It and instantly falling in love with it, then looking at the liners to the cassette and seeing Roger with a smug expression on his face, then thinking to myself, "Yeah, it's cause he knows he wrote such a kick-ass song." I certainly had quite the imagination. |

A Day at the Races for me. Then in a space of a week The Game, Jazz and A Night at the Opera. |
Ron 26.09.2004 01:06 |
I already had GHII on cass but a year later (1992) I was on vacation in Switzerland and was checking the CD's and noticed Queen. For some reason I wanted to buy an album and my father advised me to buy Queen I and so I did. Still dont know why he let me pick that one. I had to wait another week untill I could play it, since we didnt had a cd player in the car or at the house where we were staying. Then came Barcelona, the 1992 single re-issue... :D |
VGB 26.09.2004 04:28 |
actually GH and Classic Queen were the first albums I ever claimed as my own, let alone Queen albums...but if we're talking albums-albums it'd be A Night At The Opera. I bought it on CD after listening to my Dad's LP's of it. I also listened to his SHA, NOTW, ADATR, and Live Killers LPs too, but I bought A Night At The Opera I think because it had bohemian rhapsody and you're my best friend on it. Or it was the only one I could find at the store. I didn't even have a portable CD player! I had to copy my CD on to a cassette to listen to it in my portable cassette player. Come to think of it that cassette is actually still in my car and listened to regularly. :) |

The Game on cd in 1993. Got it from a friend whose dad worked at EMI. After that the FM album, Happiness and Greatest Hits I think. |

Queen 1 (CD) - bought from MVC Ipswich back in 1994 (one of the digital remasters from that year) |
SergeantPepperDG 26.09.2004 09:19 |
After I got the Greatest Hits Collection, I started at the beginning and got Queen, then Queen II, etc. |
Brian_Mays_Wig 26.09.2004 09:53 |
Greatest Hits 1 on vynil, 1987, I was 9. My cousin had 2 copies of it for xmas 1986, I brought it off him for £5, I was 9. From then on I was hooked. |
Goo 26.09.2004 10:29 |
I already had gotten GH and Classic Queen as a gift, and ANATO was my first Queen album, cause I'd heard Death on Two Legs, and really liked it. Also, they didn't have a huge selection of Queen cds in Music World that day. |
iGSM 26.09.2004 10:45 |
I'd like to start collecting Rogers and Brians' solo efforts but there's rather a small chance of getting them over in Australia..bastards. |
Sonia Doris 26.09.2004 10:51 |
My parents bought me an audio cassette with Gratest Hits 1 when I was little. I used to listen to it then, but - unfortunately, I forgot about it until the seventh grade (around 1998). Since then I became Queen-crazy. After I re-listened to GH1, I rushed to the music store to buy any Queen album I could find. The first one was Made In Heaven, then Innuendo, and so on...Since then, I save money especially for this purpose. |
Mitti 26.09.2004 10:57 |
I started with GH2 ('cause I used to steal my sisters cd's) :D |

My first Queen-record: "The Works". I bought it 1984 in an old-fashioned record-shop in my hometown and it cost me approx. 13 Euro. That´s been quite a lot for a vinyl, i guess. Then came "A Night at the Opera" - and it´s been quite a shock for me. I was wondering if I bought the wrong record. Never heard any track of it before just bought it cause it was quite cheap and the name Queen was on the front cover. It took one week - and it became my favourite Queen-album till today. When they began to release the first CDs I bought twelve at one strike! My parents have been very upset wasting my money for "such a shit"! |
lottie88 26.09.2004 13:47 |
Let me see, well after I fell in love with my mom's Greatest Hits, I got Classic Queen. But I don't know what the first real album I got would be because I bought the Crown Jewels and got 8 at once. |
The Real Wizard 26.09.2004 14:07 |
The first studio album I bought was a cassette of News Of The World, because I had first bought a cassette of Live Killers (which I had listened to probably a hundred times by this point), and I wanted to hear the studio versions of Sheer Heart Attack, Spread Your Wings, and Get Down Make Love. The first album I actually heard was my dad's copy of ANATO on vinyl when I was nine or ten... I wasn't really a fan yet. I just remember hearing the first couple minutes of Death On Two Legs, and I thought it was so incredibly weird! Definitely like nothing I had ever heard before. |

OK mi first Queen album was GH and Wembley (1990 - 1992) , but my really first CD was Innuendo when i heard that song and saw the video I said WOW!, since this day I'm a Queen & Freddie fan |

First Queen album I ever bought was ...Races. About twelve years later I started buying those Japanese mini-vinyl-replicas (some weeks ago) - and funny enough, ADATR was AGAIN the first album I bought ;-). Don't ask me why... btw: HELLO TO EVERYONE!! (it's my first post here) |
brENsKi 26.09.2004 16:36 |
ADATR somebody to love had hit the charts - and i managed to save some of my paper round money to buy the album this was quickly followed by ANATO and II. Queen II has always been my favourite - side black is freddie's mini-concept-album |

My first album was The Game. My brother actually bought it and I had already bought the 45 of CLTCL before the album came out. So, I was interested. I think I listened to it more than he did! BTW, still have the 45 along with my picture sleeve 45 of WWRY/WATC which was the first thing I ever bought of Queen. I was 10 at the time. (Yeah....it does go by fast....) |

News of the World for me. I never really knew much about the band except that my cousin was on tour with them as their lighting engineer. But when I heard "Rock You" on the radio and found out what band it was, I went out to buy the album in the hopes of seeing Joe's name in the credits. It wasn't there till the JAZZ album but I played "News" to DEATH and fell in love with every track. Especially "It's Late." I've been hooked ever since. |
7Innuendo7 26.09.2004 22:38 |
The Game was my first Queen vinyl, and I would play Dragon Attack over and over and over for the guitar, bass & drum solos. Then, I discovered the joys of playing 33 1/3 rpm records at 45 rpm. :) |
redspecial85 27.09.2004 03:10 |
The first Queen album I ever owned...at the end of Third Grade...a friend of mine brought the American Greatest Hits...and the first song I heard was Fat Bottomed Girls...that's the song he skipped to...and I was blown away...then he showed me Bohemian Rhapsody...right after school I conned my parents into taking me to the record store...and I found ANATO...I took it home and played the entire album through...I was blown away and became a die-hard Queen fan... |

The first Queen album I bought was actually an 8 track tape, and it was Queen II, in 1974. I still remember the parts where it faded out to change tracks, in the middle of White Queen, and the middle of MOTBQ. Great stuff!!! |
Mr Fred 27.09.2004 11:15 |

I thought I would be the only one, but apparently Kai Kurgan got this one first as well: "The Works." I recall seeing some sort of Queen retrospective on TV where they showed some clips of the Ga Ga video, and I remember thinking it was a real trip. I was also listening to a borrowed copy of GHII at the time, and I was way into Break Free, Hard Life, and Hammer to Fall--I just wanted to get the album that had all my favorites. God, I love that album. |

greatest hits 1 cassette, the black one. 1991. 5 years old. my uncle's. basically i wore it out listening to bicycle race, rewinding and fast forwarding the piece of shit, thinking that it was a bon jovi song that queen covered but thinking how could it be possible that queen covered it when they were an older group and bon jovi is just a hair band and hair bands do not usually do this sort of work and queen is the most plausible source... ahh! you do get it don't you? |

My sisters had Queen albums and one of my brothers borrowed Live Killers. that's when i first liked Queen. The first one I bought was Flash Gordon. i was 9 years old and after the movie thought "I MUST have that song". my older sister had Bo rhap single and News of the world (She loves My Melancholy Blues). She took me to the movie theatre to watch Flash and when I told her that this song was like a himn and I love the chorus singing ...Flash!... a-ah... she told me "these are the same guys that sing bo rhap and WWRY. Flash was my very first album that i bought. then was greatest hits, after that, the glorius A day at the races, and then i bought them one by one untill I got them all. i was very very young and this took me laike 2 years i guess, until hot space was released. aaah.... those days.... : ) |

The game.. in 1993. I was 10 years old. I was in a shop and listened with a headphone to Save Me and read the lyrics in the booklet and just loved it! Also liked Sail Away Sweet Sister, Rock It, Need Your Loving Tonight and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. After that I got myself a copy of Sheer Heart Attack, Made In Heaven (in 1995 when it was released) and after that all the other queen albums..Every 2 months one cd i guess.. |

If you count greatest hits, I got the Platinum Collection first, but I later lost GHII. And that was a good collection, especially since it had It's A Hard Life and Friends Will Be Friends, two good songs. Not counting greatest hits, my first was ANATO, because of Bohemian Rhapsody, but I soon enjoyed the entire album, espcially I'm In Love With My Car, DOTL and LOASA. Then, I got Greatest Hits and Classic Queen, then A Night At The Opera, then Wembley, then Miracle and Innuendo, then The Game, then News of the World and Jazz, and I just got Hot Space a couple of weeks ago. Next one(s) I need: Made In Heaven, Queen, The Works, Sheer Heart Attack, Queen II, A Day At The Races, A Kind Of Magic (probably in that order). |

A kind of magic: in 1986 a friend of mine started going to the matches of our local Icehockeyteam. They played one certain song before the matches, and another certain song afterwards, in case they won the game... he got interested in the music and started to collect the records. I was'nt interested at all, being only 10 years old I had not yet discovered a definite personal musical taste. Finally, in September '86 (yes, sadly too late for a chance of seeing the guys live - I think I will never get over that... ) he offered me a tape which mainly consisted of some songs from "A kind of Magic" and those two songs from the Hockey-Matches. Of course, "Rock you" and "Champions". I listened to that tape again and again, and a few days later A kind of magic was not only the first Queen record I bought, but the first record in general ! Within 3 weeks or so I owned every LP with the name Queen written on it... at least the official ones, the bootleg thing started later.. ;-) |
