I was wondering: Who and why decided to cut Bohemian Rhapsody at Live Magic Album? Was it Queen's idea or maybe the company's choice? Does anyone know if there's a complete version of that song? (I supposed yes, but I'm not sure)
I thought it was cut so the album wouldn't extend to two discs. For the complete version, you'd just have to track down a bootleg of the actual concert, since Live Magic is a mixture of a few different concerts.
Anyway, it's not a great loss, cos they always had a tape playing the middle part of the song. It's almost impossible to play BoRhap decently without a chorus, that's why they did playback...

It's from Knebworth, just like most of the album... The rest comes from both Wembley nights (1 track each if I remember well- Hammer To Fall and The World We Created...?) and 2 tracks from Budapest (AKOM & UP)
Actually I am not bothered by it and wouldn't have minded if they hadn't played the opera section. Brian even said they only did it because the fans wanted to hear it in concerts.

It would not fit into one CD or LP. Anyway, you probably heard BohRhap until your ears bled so are you missing it terribly?
Personally I loved the typically '70s trend of splitting songs as parts of medleys... Don't exactly know why, but it seems to me that the solution adopted in the '70s shows was much more interesting than putting a record for playin' the middle section... It's the live feel, you know... Hard to explain...
Albyboy
It's the first Queen live music I've ever heard so for sentimental reasons I really love it.It was short and edited but due to this it was also very direct an lively.I thought the live versions of,let's say,One Vision was way faster then the original in studio. And when after that I listened to it I thought I had some problems with the batteries of my walkman, cause it was way too slow!
Yes,very naive and innocent in music I was :-)
If you listen the album you can notice that also other songs are badly cutted (such as SSOR, TYMD, IWTBF, FFBF, WATC). This happen because of the decision to make this live album in only 1 LP (45 min approx.). I quite dislike this album for this reason. Well, about BoRhap I prefer the Wembley version (or Budapest one) that is very similar but sounds me more exciting!

Same here...I just listened to the Hammy-75-gig which contains a medley of BoRhap/Killer Queen/..Black Queen and a Rhapsody-reprise.
Simply one of the best medleys I've ever heard!
The original idea behind Live Magic is not too bad in my opinion: to just release an impression of this impressive Tour (didnt Freddie call it "the Queen Tornado"?), a quick rush through those massive concerts with just the most famous ones, with focus on those released after '79. But of course edited songs really ruin it - how can one enjoy WWRY with just one verse ? I remember buying it as a new Queen-Fan in 1987 just equipped with GH and thought they really played it that way, and I didnt like that at all from the beginning. Of course it was just an edit, but that still doesnt make the album better. And the worst thing is, that they didnt include ALL full versions on the CD ! Definitely my least favourite Queen-release, a lost opportunity. Nice cover though and I still get a kick out of the audience getting berserk on One Vision - hope Knebworth gets a proper release someday.

Yeah right, I wish they kept doing this kind of medley in what concerns BoRhap... I actually hate playback.
