but does anybody have a Live Aid bootleg? I'm not very well versed in these things so if Live Aid bootleg is indeed present, can anybody share a snippet of Queen's performance+ITTWWC? |
Ogre 23.09.2004 16:28 |
yes, I do have it. If enough people are interested, i can make a torrent of it to share |

Buy the official release. Pirating official releases is one thing - to rob from the Live Aid charities trust is quite another. link Amazon are offering it for £27.99 which is pretty good value - and perhaps you may just save a life also. The Ogre: Your motives may be genuine - but I don't think that torrenting this file is moralistically a good idea. |
Ogre 23.09.2004 18:23 |
I don't see ITTWWC on there John. I know it's spoiled by the sound techs, but he did ask for it. BTW. If we record anything from TV, are we supposed to keep it to ourselves incase a dvd is produced in the future? EDIT.. yes, see it now, but my question still remains |
John S Stuart 23.09.2004 18:50 |
Disc Three: Freddie Mercury & Brian May - Is This The World We Created? "BTW. If we record anything from TV, are we supposed to keep it to ourselves incase a dvd is produced in the future?" No - not at all - I think you missed the point. I too record off TV, and I would have no compulsion swapping "Milton Keynes" (a bit pointless now that it is about to be released officially - but you get the point), but Live Aid was not just another concert. It was an event to raise monies to help the Ethopian famine victims. Therefore why torrent this file when; First: all the tracks you desire will be officially available (including a perfect rendition of ITTWWC - as it was the Radio feed that was fuc*ed - NOT the televisual link), and second: You would literally be stealing the food from the mouths of starving children? |
agneepath! 11994 23.09.2004 18:54 |
its an interesting question... Rien kindly made available all the Queen related songs from the 46664 concert within days of the actual concert. since the DVD is widely available he wouldn't dream of offering it again. He also made available queen at Live aid - before plans were announce to release the DVD... I think once a release is announced - thats where you draw the line. and Live Aid is extra special because our money will make a difference. |
Ogre 23.09.2004 18:58 |
ERR....I think I already answered that one John Yes, Agreed Agneepath |
John S Stuart 23.09.2004 19:04 |
Sorry Ogre but I don't understand. You originally said: "I don't see ITTWWC on there... If we record anything from TV, are we supposed to keep it to ourselves incase a dvd is produced in the future?" I replied: "...why torrent this file when... all the tracks... will be officially available... and... You would literally be stealing the food from the mouths of starving children?" Your response was then: "ERR....I think I already answered that one John" Now I know that sometimes I am a bit slow, but I don't get what your second response means because I don't see what you answered! |
John S Stuart 23.09.2004 19:12 |
Ogre: OK - I see it now. I asked "...WHY torrent this file when... all the tracks... will be officially available... and... You would literally be stealing the food from the mouths of starving children?" But you previously wrote "...he did ask for it." So I see now that this earlier statement looks like an answer to my latter question. But actually I was asking a rhetorical question - as in - what is the point in torrenting this concert when... it will soon "be officially available... and... You would literally be stealing the food from the mouths of starving children?". So I was not really asking a question at all - but ironically making a statement! Sorry about the confusion. Pity about the lack of intonation ;-) |

I know the Africa bullshit but, I don't wanna shell out $75 for a set (when LedZep isn't even there) when I only need Queen's performance, audio only. Video, I can probably live without. Just don't tell Geldof... |
John S Stuart 23.09.2004 19:24 |
donbosco_03: "I know the Africa bullshit but, I don't wanna shell out $75 for a set..." So you expect someone else to subsidise it for you? |
Ogre 23.09.2004 19:34 |
No John, my answer was because all you wrote originally was "Disc Three: Freddie Mercury & Brian May - Is This The World We Created? " then added the other stuff afterwards. Now, saying that I would be stealing from the mouths of children, I take as a great offence at that. I do my fair share of charity work for this country, but i will not agree to anything involved with other countries. We are only paying for the adults to get stronger and have another litter of 'near death' kids when the crops fail. Sad as it may be, this country should sort itself out before looking after others. I think this should be carried on in the personal forum if needed and not here where we want to 'share' the music..(if we are allowed) |

I'm completely torn on this issue. On one hand, something recorded from TV so many years ago doesn't seem to be hurting anyone by being shared... However the timing is bad, since the official release is coming so soon. I think a valid argument can be made for either side. I'm leaning more toward thinking it's cool to share it.. not just for those who can't afford or don't wish to buy the (not quite) whole thing, but it might make up for those lost sales by giving some folks a preview which entices them to buy it when they weren't planning on it. They might say "damn, this is a cool performance.. I want to buy the official version and have it in excellent quality" It's more touchy than most arguments because of the funds going to charity and the already known disgust that Mr. Geldof felt when he found out people were profitting from it.. however sharing a TV broadcast for free isn't profitting.. I dunno :) I have it on VCD from files I converted from Rien's site, but I'm going to buy the set.. maybe not on the day of release, but eventually. |

LOL! I knew I shouldn't have added that last part :-P I've never shared a torrent before, and I don't think something this controversial would be a good place to start :-P I think you can probably find it in various file-sharing places. I don't have any of them anymore to confirm. |

"I do my fair share of charity work for this country, but i will not agree to anything involved with other countries." I think I can guess the country you're talking about. If that is the case, don't worry, your ideology is the same as the vast majority over there. The problem is that sometimes people could get angry at you guys because of that, and... booom! Please be more careful about the consequences of the not-caring-policy. Peace, Ogre- |

"all that Africa bullshit" FUCK OFF, MORON. May your family live long and happy lives untroubled by misfortune, so that they never have to rely on you to help your fellow man. Thes rest of it is easy - the Real Magic recording was tradeable until it got released, so was MK, and now so is Live Aid. Why would anyone want it when the complete show is readily available? Unless of course they were a narrow minded fuckwit. |
jericho05 24.09.2004 19:58 |
I doubt very much anyone would actually be allowed to torrent this with the official release coming out soon. It certainly wouldnt fit in with the whole spirit of this release especially if sales were going to africa. (is 100 % earmarked for charity or just a portion? anyone know?) Anyways save your money and buy the set. Even without Zep it will be well worth it. This was a great event! BUY THIS SET! |
