For the older fans who knew Queen whilst Fred was alive, what things really get your goat about the Roger/Brian Queen of today? I know this is sooooo trivial, but apart from all the Queen+ crap, Robbie, Five, Pepsi ect ect the one thing that annoys me most is that little sticker advertising WWRY that comes on absolutely everything Queen! I went into HMV the other day and theyd stuck it on all the cds! Argghhh. |

Brian and Roger not touring. It'd be amazing to see them in concert, since I never got the chance to see Queen, but they're just too wrapped up in the musical. |

I would have to say that my biggest annoyance is not getting any 'new' stuff from the band, and by 'new', I mean 'old', as in 70s live material which has been previously unseen / unheard (apart from on bootlegs), or the rest of the catalogue on DVD-Audio. This musical is really getting on my tits, and I wish Brian and Roger would pull away from it, and concentrate on other things. It's been nearly 13 years since Freddie's death, and apart from Made In Heaven and No One But You, there's been little we haven't heard or seen before. |

the only thing that annoys me really is the musical. and the lack of 'new' releases |
FriedChicken 23.09.2004 17:56 |
Bands like The Beatles, who were only active for 8 years or so have bootlegs with 3 different takes of almost every song they record. Maybe even more. And what do the fans have of Queen? Maybe 4 or 5 songs. Not including different takes of album songs. |

The commercials, the musical. :( |

The commercials? |

John Deacon not showing up at the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame induction. I don't care if he's retired. An honor of that kind can't be dismissed. |

I prefer them doing a musical than doing a tour or releasing new stuff. Queen is over. I've always admired The Clash for not having done a reunion tour, they could've done it, they were offered millions! But they realized that their time had passed and that it was time to do their own new stuff. So I think the musical isn't a bad idea at all but I agree, Brian IS getting obsessed with it and that annoys me. And the commercials with Britney were very annoying, too. And that we never get a sign from John Deacon - but that's a good thing on the other hand because he's not pissing on Queen's legacy! For me Queen were Freddie, John, Brian and Roger and everything that's happened after Freddie's death is not Queen as such anymore so I don't really care. |

At least he didn't make a fool of himself with Dave Grohl... As for me- all those collaborations just sucked- the whole lot of them... |

I have to agree with many of these sentiments. 1) I like the musical 2) Brian (not Roger I believe) is too obsessed with it 3) I believe Brian is obsessed with it due to being a perfectionist, not for the money 4) I wish they would do some more concerts, if not tours, with or without John and with or without guest singers. Just to have them out there to see live would be great 5) I wish they would finish the box sets!!!! 6) I wish they would do some MIH style stuff to any archive material (either as part of or separate from the box sets) 7) I wish they would do more solo stuff In terms of 4-7, any of those would a major step forward. Milton Keynes is going to be a great DVD, so I commend them for that. One thing I might add is that while we kinda slate Brian for being obsessed with the musical, without him, I still don't think the rest of the stuff would be done. Roger's keen on the touring thing (allegedly) but can't or won't do anything (even solo) without Brian. So while Brian's the bottleneck, he's still integral to all this because he has the patience and the perfectionism to do it (when he wants to/gets round to it). Hope that all made sense!!! Re the WWRY stickers on the CDs, yes, that's annoying, but remember it's probably got nothing to do with Roger or Brian. Probably Jim Beach's doing. |

The # 1 is that Roger & Brian have played under the name QUEEN without Deacon. that sux. if John doesn´t want to join them, then get another name (like Page & Plant did!) or get presented as ex-Queen members, because the band Queen, my dears, died on november 1991. I´m not saying that freddie was queen, if brian or another member had died first, then that was the last day of the band. , but if the 3 living buddies can still play together, we can let them call theirselves Queen. Freddie died, but not john and without john it´s only half a Queen. that could be a good name. |

For me the worst action was the release of the WWRY single in collaboration with "The Sun". To make Queen fans buy this dirty Rupert Murdoch tabloid to get the single in promotion of the musical was really shameful. |

1)What remains of Queen not touring anymore. 2)John not more involved publicly with Queen. 3)No "new" album by Queen of re-worked,unfinished or unknown songs. 4)No solo albums by Brian and Roger. I hope some day or another things will change. I love Queen directly involved in producing new music! |

just a thought -- perhaps the reason why there's been no "new" songs using archive pieces since the 'Rocks Re-Take' of 'I Can't Live With You' is because Brian and Roger are having trouble dragging John into a studio, and they've decided to treat Deaky like the Brian Wilson of the group...he doesn't have to tour or make public appearances, just go into the studio. meanwhile, as John is sitting at home, insisting he's retired, drinking tea, looking at his mounted bass above the mantle, Brian and Roger have all these ideas for Queen albums, waiting for John to just come into the studio to play bass, and flatly refusing to do any Queen studio work without John. ....And Brian's kept himself occupied with the musical while they wait for John to change his mind? |

someone wrote: "Yes I have to totally agree. Ringo And Paul wouldnt call themselves The Beatles!" But when Ringo, Paul, and George did overdubs on two of John Lennon's solo songs (which he recorded long after Paul had announced the end of the Beatles), they called themselves The Beatles still. and in a way, Ringo and Paul are now passing themselves off as the Beatles -- look at the liner notes for 'Let It Be...Naked'. only quotes from Ringo and Paul are used, with nothing representing John or George (old quotes regarding those sessions would have been nice, or even just quotes from Yoko and....whatever George's wife's name was. all i can think of is Patti at the moment). so, really, the Beatles/Queen comparison is at once more accurate than it's ever been before, and not at all fitting: both show two members trying to act as a group, with at least one member trying to celebrate the music and the history. but then you also have the slight rewriting of history (both Paul and Brian have been accused of changing song credits). |

Maybe it's because I'm a young Queen fan and never been able to see Queen live, but I love it when I see Brian and Roger do something together. My dream is to see them togheter on tour for just one more time. I love the 46664 and the Amsterdam gig. I know I'm not making friends here by saying this, but I don't care. |
