Thank God, nothing bad from my personal experience. The only thing I could possibly think of is when my sister told me that I would pay a lot of money for a piece of turd pooped by Brian May himself. I found it quite funny though. |

The worst I've ever gotten wasn't actually from some ignorant dumbass I barely knew, It was one of my closest friends. He's a hard-core Pink Floyd and Tool fan, you know the type. Sometimes he gets a bit cynical about music that he doesn't feel has "substance" (I would call him a psuedo-intelletual wannabe, but hey, he is one of my best friends. Plus, I LOVE Tool and Pink Floyd too, who doesn't?-don't answer that) So one day he basically infers that the lyrics to wwry and watc are "narsacistic"(sp?) and mean basically nothing, and how could I possibly like that music: ,"I mean We will ROCK you, what is THAT??" I tried to explain how the songs were written to pump up the crowd @ concerts and give them something to sing along to, how the words really have symbolic meaning, etc. But it sucks that I heve to explain things like that to people. Why do I even bother? |

The main offensive comment I received was the time I was watching the WWRY concert and my older cousin said "How can he suck dicks with teeth like that?" I whipped back and said, "I don't know, are you sore?" Another time my dad tried to convince me that Queen covered Crazy Little Thing Called Love. |
Ms. Bea Haven 23.09.2004 11:36 |
I didn't find this offensive, but kinda funny. A friend of mine (she's in England, I'm in the US) was working at a shop one day when Brian walked in. She told me that after he left, they couldn't help but laugh over how big his nose is. (I come from a long line of big, unattractive noses, which is why I thought this was funny. Fortunately for me, though, I did NOT inherit the 'nose.') |
bvsfan1 23.09.2004 17:42 |
I have gotten a lot of reactions for being a queen fan. Some people just go along with it and don't care. Some people don't know who that is so I have to go "You know them. We Will Rock You, We are the Champions, Another one bites the dust......" They usually all go "Oh yeah....". Some people ask "Isn't all the people in that group gay?" I have to explain that only Freddie was. One time someone just started laughing at me and said that I was gay for listening to that music. I wanted to kick his ass so much. Unfortunatly he is about 5x bigger than me. So I didn't even want to say anything. I always hate when my brother starts going at me for listening to queen. He always keeps reminding me that We Are the Champions is a gay anthem. I keep asking him why everyone is always singing it at sports arena. One thing that always shuts me down is that I live in USA so when I start talking about how well their songs did, I don't have much support since they only had two number one hits. But do many songs get released at #9 and re-released and reach #2. Of course he mentions that it's only because of Wayne's World. He just thinks that everyone has to be like him. |

The most offensive someone said to me was at a Halloween party in 1991 right before Freddie died. I ask the host - how was this not so attractive girl who need to get in the sun alittle, that is she had any Queen albums that she could mix in with the hair bands she was playing on the stero. She told me that she would not have that faggot's music in her house!!!! Well being a very proud gay man I told here to go f#@k off - in true Freddie fashion, and left the party. |

Hm...the most offensive thing I was ever told for listening to Queen came from my parents...I had just gotten a copy of the instrumental cd (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, etc.) and was choreographing a little when my dad turned off the music and started lecturing me...He told me he couldn't believe I was listening to a band that included a homosexual and made references to the devil and Beelzebub. The gist of that lecture was that I was being a bad little southern baptist girl by enjoying their music. It got worse when he told me he wouldn't allow me to 'taint' my little sisters by bringing that music into the house... Coming from my dad, that really hurt at the time. Now, I don't really care...we disagree about too many things. Besides, I figured if they were important enough for him to get so worked up about it, they were certainly important enough for me to really listen to them! Ja ne! |

If I talk to older people, they would surely know what's Queen about, and say something like "Aaah...Queen...cool" I'm from Romania too and I can't realize how most people here can be so ignorant. So I told him that his name was Freddie Mercury, and that he was gay. And my friend tried to tell me that “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” was originally written by Elvis. Then she asked, “Isn’t that a GAY band?” So, I told her that only the lead singer was gay. And my mom got, “Frankie goes to Hollywood” and Queen mixed up. The was very insulting. |

I was ostracized (spelling?) though middle school by just about everyone for my love of Queen. once when my dad was drunk I was taping the SNL special with Queen on and he said something like "we better hurry up the fag is gonna be on", he got weird and testy when he was drank... I also got a nasty (like full of hatred) look from a high school principal when I was a freshman You realize how many people (in the US)don't know who Queen are until you tell them what songs they did? People now are usually like yeah whatever...maybe casue I look scary? |
