Drs Daja..I may be a newbie, but I won't ask dumbass questions that have been asked a thousand times, and questions where the answers can be found with a quick search of Google. Too much of that, and I can understand why people get a little miffed with newbies (though some of the abuse is a little strong!) I'll only post if I feel I can share info that may be of interest to others or if I have a valid point/contribution to make. That is my pledge to the good people of QueenZone! :o) |

Oh dear. The cover is awful. Good shot of Freddie but not the other guys, and you can't even see Roger. The photoshopping isn't very good.. you can see where the picture blends into the *cough* background colour they've chosen. And worst of all, 'Queen' needs to be by itself or larger than the rest of the title. (to match the previous three titles in the series) It looks like the name of the band is 'Queen On Fire'. God help us. |

"Extras are to set to include backstage interviews with Freddie, Brian and Roger, a gallery and further concert performances and 'Tour Highlights' from the 1982 Hot Space tour in Japan and Austria." Austria? That's one of the Vienna concerts. I didn't know that show was filmed (I thought some of Frankfurt 82 was planned as bonus). Anyway the artwork looks ok, nothing special. Queen On Fire is a wrong title, it should be "Queen - Live at the Bowl" or "Queen - On Fire At The Bowl". |

I hated this new cover at first sight but I think it'll grow on me. The second and third time I saw it, it didn't look so crappy. A great picture of Freddie but I think that it makes no justice to the other band members. The style and the way it blends (or it should) doesn't look very good but I think the concept is good. Maybe a better band shot would've been better. Something like the one used to promote GH3 in the old QueenOnline site where Freedie seems to be jumping from the drumkit to the front of the stage. Such an energic shot! Does anyone know which one I'm talking about??? And... Just wanted to say that I like the cover of the Live Killers album!!... well, the picture used there, I don't really like the black bar on top and the way the name of the album is written. I think the band look mysteriously interesting, you can't really tell who they are but the cover is a classic in the Queen catalog. A million times better than the one for The Works, IMO. Sincerely, Wiley |

Source BrianMay.com: " **Thu 23 Sep 04** QUEEN ON FIRE AT THE BOWL PRESS RELEASE Queen On Fire Live At The Bowl Hot Space Tour ‘82 New Live DVD – CD from Queen EMI/Parlophone. Release 25 October 2004 “We hadn’t seen the footage for years, but when we looked at it we couldn’t believe how good it was, we were on fire”. Roger Taylor talking about the band’s 1982 concert at M K Bowl which is released in its full version for the first time – on DVD and CD, October 25. Says Brian May: “This is the first time the Milton Keynes night has been shown in its entirety, and I have to say we all get a kick out of it – all the more amazing because we came off stage that night thinking we hadn’t done ourselves justice!!! I’m proud to say It Rocks!!” By 1982 Queen were at a peak in terms of touring and recording. They were coming off the back of two of their biggest singles – Another One Bites The Dust and Under Pressure – and by now they were playing more than 60 sell-out concerts a year in the biggest stadiums of the world. They were also basking in the glory of having been the first foreign band to have toured and conquered Latin America. 1981 had seen the band play football stadiums throughout Argentina and Brazil, including two sell-out concerts at Sao Paulo’s historic Morumbi Stadium. Such was the demand on the band to play arenas and stadiums throughout the world that they managed to play only 4 dates in the UK between 1981 – 1983. The M K Bowl concert was one of these and the closest they came to playing London in these 3 years. The date was originally to have been played at Arsenal football ground, but when permission was turned down, the date was switched to the M K Bowl. It is little wonder then that by the time they reached the gig in June 1982 that the Queen touring machine was in prime condition. “We just stormed through that concert,” says Taylor. “I’d forgotten just how tight the band was by then.” “Queen On Fire – Live At The Bowl” is Queen at its electric best, with the band charging through 25 numbers drawn from the biggest hits and best loved live songs – Dragon Attack, Now I’m Here, Tie Your Mother Down, Sheer Heart Attack, and two versions of We Will Rock You, including the much sought after ‘fast’ version, altogether 110 minutes of live classics. Filmed by Gavin Taylor, and only ever seen in an edited version on Channel 4’s The Tube, this release has the concert restored to its original full length, amounting to an additional 47 minutes of previously unseen footage. Not released on video, “Queen On Fire – Live At The Bowl”, marks the first time a recording of this concert has been available to own. “I think people will be surprised, as I was, all these years later, how different the show is from the well known Queen Wembley 86 Stadium performance,” says Brian May. “A large percentage of the songs are different… It kicks off with us blasting into “Flash” and gets very hot!” The set holds up very well, and Freddie’s ad-libs are something to behold… the other things I had forgotten was how much freedom we had to stretch and enjoy ourselves on the spur of the moment”. As to be expected from Queen, the release comes only after extensive restoration to the original footage and sound. Audio producers Justin Shirley-Smith and Kris Fredriksson returned to the original 24 track analogue recording and created brand new PCM stereo and DTS 5.1 surround sound mixes. “Unlike the Wembley DVD project, the only mixes available were mono, so we decided to start from scratch,” says Shirley-Smith. “We transferred the entire concert multi-track recordings onto Pro Tools HD. Then we’d listen to each track for any imperfections, distortions or crackles and meticulously remove them. For example, there’s one bit when Brian’s playing piano and it’s very soft – so soft that when we turned it up to the level it needed to be, we just got a load of hiss. When I first saw this press release for the DVD today, I misread and thought it said '3 hours of extras' but it actually said 'With over 3 hours of concert footage and extras'. Anyway, my mistake made me think it might have commentary, and I was thinking that might be fun to hear commentary on a live show. Do you guys think that would be cool, or does it sound like a bad idea? 110 minutes straight of commentary might become boring. I'm not familiar with the MK show, but unless Roger has a bunch of costume changes, he'd have to keep making fun of the same attire over and over. |

They most certainly corrected the "locality" bit in Fat Bottomed Girls, but technically speaking Justin may not consider REPLACING something an overdub, as oppsoed to ADDING. That's all semantics, I know, and as far as I can tell it was not the only part they edited. makes me wonder where they got the replacement bit from though. It's very tough to spot on the video that they changed that bit, they did a good job whether you like it or not. |

What about the old TV version ? Was the "locality"-bit fixed there ? I guess not, because they supposedly mixed it all from the scrath for the DVD, so it should have nothing in common with the Tyne Tees mix. I don't have the TV-version though. Any ideas ? |

I had big problem with Cactus some time ago and from that time I don't buy any CD with any CopyControl. Unfortunately, I won't buy this one too :-( I really ask myself, why they do this. Usually it's really no problem to copy it anyway, but almost always it could be the big problem for ordinary people, who bought it. So, after all, the only one punished is the customer who bought it in the end. Sad. |

He was, as he himself used to say, "the bigger the better, in everything". That included screwing up :-) All in all the few repairs i've spotted so far (most notably including the Fat Bottomed Girls choruses and intro)have been very well done. They might not do the truth justice, but they sure do the band and the concert justice. I'm still contemplating which one is more important to me. |

The only thing I can think of is a "donor" from another concert. Of course, then it gets specific as they have to find bits that fit well. But again, they could just manipulate it to fit. It's quite hard to realise exactly what it is they did, other than that. I checked my MK vcd and there is a bad slip on the locality bit. Peace, Adam. |

(admittedly it would be harder than just replacing it)Ahah, so it has been 'fixed' Is it surely 'replaced' with another bit off another show, I figure they could have just re-tuned the vocal bit with whatever tools they might use(Celemony Melodyne for example). Then again none of this matters... :-PBelieve me, the way Freddie royally screwed up the original CANNOT be repaired with any known software in the world! |
