The ban on assult rifles has now ended. Bush had no intention of keeping it going. Why? Well because he now has the 'battle ground' states in the plam of his hand, and the votes in his pocket. Michigan, Ohio, PA, parts of Florida, and others. They are all hunter states, or gun favorable states. The fact is, that in the past 10 years when this ban was active, the crimes in which assult type weapons were used, was down 63%. He is taking police off streets, and now giving the criminals an easier way to get those types of weapons. Sure there are the 'Gun Show Loopholes', where you can walk in and buy any type of weapon with out an FBI backround check. Those loopholes are valid in almost every state. Sad isn't it? That he would have to go so low as that. He knows he can't talk about issues, because all of the issues, he is failing miserably in. The only thing he has to say is that he has toppled Saddam. And he is linking that with 9-11 and he has no reason to. So he does this. Lets the ban, and effective ban, go down the tubes. The NRA says the ban was innefective, while the government says it's records show differently. Let me say this also. Clinton signed this bill with the support of Reagan, Carter, and others. Thsi law, acting with the Brady Bill was extreemly effictive. This wasn't some fly by night thing. The NRA is also for the availablity of bullets called 'cop killer' bullets, and the legailty of assult weapons. What is it that they are after.
I'll tell you folks, I am scared for the integrity of America. I am also scared when terrorists, in paticular Bin Ladens group, have in the training manual they live by, to go to the countries that have no weapons ban, and buy all you can. They can get them anywhere now. Any store. Any gun show. Scary isn't it.
I'm afriad for the kids that will inherit the mess the USA is becoming, and has become since Bush took office. Think about it people.
Please think about your vote. It is not somehting to take lightly. We are in deep deep trouble. And it is only going to get worse.
Evidently the Democrats in Congress and the Senate did not think it was very important either as they did nothing too. Bush said he would sign the bill if it reached his desk ... but it never got to his desk.

What crap reasoning. He's the president - he knows exactly what's going on.
It's like some evil genius said - when Bush got elected, the NRA was not merely influencing the White House, it was IN the White House.
Concealed-carry bills being passed left and right. Ban on assault weapons repealed. Kentuckians see nothing wrong with this. The world has gone mad.
