Hi, I've got a question. In my copy of the Freddie Mercury Box Set there are two versions of "Exercises In Free Love". One (on "the great pretender" disc)is claimed to be with Freddie's vocals and the other (on "the singles 1986-1993) is to be sung by Montserrat. The problem is that they both sound the same. I have recently downloaded the version with Montserrat from the hub and it is clearly a different version from those two track from my box set. Is there something wrong with my box set?
Both versions on the box set are sung by Freddie - they are identical. Montserrat's version is not on the Freddie box, it's only available as a b-side to the Barcelona single. Maybe the notes on the Freddie box are a bit confusing, but they do not claim that one of the tracks on the Great Pretender/Singles 2 CDs is sung by Montserrat Caballé.
ok, thank you. Maybe I have read those notes not carefully enough. However, I still find it a little bit strange that the box features the same track two times. And still the version sung by Montserrat could have easily been put there with no effort from the publishers, I suppose, so maybe it was missed by mistake...
I agree, Kevin, it's stupid to have the same track twice and not the Montserrat Caballé version. I also find it annoying that they have about 10 "Living On My Own" demos and mixes but the only alternative of "Man Made Paradise" is not on the box, only a few seconds on the Untold Story.
A good idea to download the track from the hub:)
