Im just halfway through Sid and Nancy (Gary Oldman is a great actor) and Sid didnt seem that bad, i remeber someone telling me that the first time Sid and Freddie met Sid said something about teaching ballet to the masses and freddie said i try dear or something like that. They didnt hate each other did they?
"Ah! You must be Mr. Ferocious!" were Freddie's first words to the repugnant punkster, or as near as makes no difference.
No, they didn't hate eachother as they barely knew one another. Freddie was far too grand a fellow to hate anyone simply for the sake of it, and young Sidney's attitude problem was mostly an act.
Are we talking about Sid Vicious
Sid hated everyone as he once said in a radio interview
Queen & The Sex Pistols were at the same studios
On the way in to their studios
Vicious crawled through Freddie's legs.
For you newbies his real name was John Simon Ritchie
Last time I saw Captain Sensible I asked him whether he knew if this story was true or myth he wasn't sure but did say that Sid generally was a good guy playing a role thrust on him by McClaren and ended up living his own publicity.
Captain also told me a funny story about when The Damned & Queen were staying in the same hotel in Germany around 79/80. I might divulge the full story one day but Roger has been a friend ever since apparently.
Wouldn't make much of a superhero with that moniker, would he?
Terrified Citizen: Who will save us from this abomination?
Captain Sensible: I would, but it's way past my bedtime.
Lost child: Have you seen my mummy?
Captain Sensible: Can't stop - think I might have left the oven on.
You get the idea.
