The latest issue of Q magazine has an article on the Greatest Songwriters Of All Time. I was greatly offronted to see that there was no mention of Queen in there. Admittedly, the artists were nominated by their peers, but as artists like Eminem and The Streets (don't even get me started) were in there, I do have to wonder who was asked to nominate (in fact Mike whatshisname from The Streets was a nominee, for gods sake! And he nominated Eminem, surprise surprise).
I mean there were other, credible nominations - Beatles, Bowie, Plant and Paige etc. But still can't believe there was no Queen. In fact I don't think Elton John and Bernie Taupin were in there.
What do you guys think?
What do I think? Their loss. I don't need to read it in some lame magazine to know that the members of Queen were great song writers (especially Freddie and Brian).
Just write a letter/email of complaint. Tell them their silly when all the streets do is talk. I can write a streets song. Just find two words that rhyme, write them down and speak them in to a mic. Who wrote WWRY/WATC/Bohemian Rhapsody/Killer Queen/Ga Ga/AOBTD. All these songs are known world wide. More so than songs by almost any other band.
I'm pretty sure Elton John/Bernie Taupin was in there. I think it was Ronan Keating who nominated them.
But I too was disappointed, although not entirely surprised, to not see Fred in there.
Q has gone down the gutter, which sucks, because I usually look forward to reading it. Now, Classic Rock... that's a GREAT magazine! Anyone know if it came out here in the US yet? (As in, the September issue).
