Hi, guys! There are a lot of rumours, that Queen (Brian & Roger) would tour some day. Nobody can tell exactly if it is true or not, and nobody really knows who can join them for the tour (John Deacon, Spike Edney, Neil Muray, Mike Moran, Chris Thompson or somebody else). But let's imagine what songs they can perform live nowadays without Freddie. After thinking for a while about Brian's and Roger's vocal abilities and remembering different Queen performances till and after Freddie's death, I came to conclusion, that the set list can really be as follows: Procession (taped intro) Bohemian Rhapsody - operatic part(taped intro with clip images on large screens) Bohemian Rhapsody - hard rock part Tie Your Mother Down I Want It All Medley: In The Laps Of The Gods/Killer Queen/The March Of The Black Queen/I'm In Love With My Car Too Much Love Will Kill You Under Pressure Another One Bites The Dust Hammer To Fall A Kind Of Magic Guitar Solo: Brighton Rock/Chinese Torture/Bijou Acoustic set: Say It's Not True/Is This The World We Created/Love Of My Life/'39 Headlong I Want To Break Free Radio Ga Ga Days Of Our Lives 1st encore: The Invincible Hope/46664 - The Call/The Show Must Go On/No-One But You 2nd encore: We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions God Save The Queen Agree or disagree. |

No way. I don't know what mine would be, but things like Procession wouldnt do to start the show nowadays. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 05.09.2004 15:38 |
Interesting setlist. I'm not sure what the likelihood of the medley or opening with Procession would be, but otherwise, it's good. Might be a little long, though. |

Probably like most I dreamed of Queen touring with the Miracle and Innuendo albums before the rumours about Freddie were confirmed as reality! A Good Opening would have been "The Show Must Go On" if they had done a medley perhaps it would have been "Was It All Worth It" / "Headlong" / "Slightly Mad" and "Breakthru". I would have loved to have seen them do Innuendo live, I reckon Freddie would have really rocked it out! If they were to tour now, I personnally would like to see them bring a decent singer on board and get John involved again. Maybe Gary Cherone - whatever happened to him? Tour as a proper band now that would be good! |
Pim Derks 05.09.2004 18:03 |
I hope they would've dropped some of the hits like AOBTD and IWTBF and played some older ones again, like Flick of the Wrist or Liar. |

Lord Blackadder wrote: This is harder than I thought actually, too many hits!Yeah, I agree. But my life would be that much closer to complete if I watched Brian and Roger perform Heaven For Everyone in front of me. MIH is definitely my favourite Queen album. |

The band members are: -Alex Van Halen -David Lee Roth -Eddie Van Halen -Gary Cherone -Mike Anthony -Sammy Hagar But I'm not sure if it's the Gary Cherone from Extreme but I think it's very probably, because "Gary Cherone" isn't a very common name, and people who were famous one time usually try to be famous again when their fame ends...yeah, Gary Cherone from Extreme recorded an album with Van Halen like 4 years ago and it's probably the worst VH album ever. He is not anymore in the band and Sammy Hagar is back and they are touring the US. |

I like to hear songs like Save Me and Killer Queen. But nobody on this earth can sing this songs like Freddie did. Radio Gaga will be a lot easier to perform. |
Oberon 06.09.2004 07:02 |
Don't think Robert Smith would want to do Innuendo as he's openly said he doesn't like Queen! |
Oberon 06.09.2004 07:05 |
antiden - why on earth would you want Brian to repeat The Call? Generally there isn't any song I don't like in the Queen/solo catalogue, but The Call is a big exception. Can't quite understand why they thought it was worth recording (I like the riff, but the "lyrics" ruined it completely). Tops Roger's Nazis even! |
OzQueen 06.09.2004 08:40 |
As much as i love Queen, Brian and Roger (Especially John) will NEVER TOUR. They keep talking about it and we hear all thses rumours but no action is ever taken. There both not getting any younger either so i don't know what they are waiting for. Its like they have a fear of touring together maybe they can't do it without Freddie,i think they can, i don't know only they can answer that Question????? |
Lord Blackadder 06.09.2004 08:42 |
The Call's lyrics were written for the 46664 campaign and only for that. It's just to get the message across. It's not supposed to be the best song ever. I think it's good. Brian looked like a real frontman when he did it live. |
Hugo 06.09.2004 08:45 |
No tour without Deacy.... |

And I KNOW it was written especially for it (hard not to with all the 4-66-6-4 chanting!!!). Still think it was pants though, and shouldn't be performed ever again (and this is about as negative as I get when speaking about Queen!!) |
Canadian May Fan 06.09.2004 14:57 |
Not a bad set list -- personally I'd move Bohemian Rhapsody into the middle/end where it's always been and have a guest vocalist do Freddie's songs, but otherwise... |
Rich Tea 06.09.2004 15:56 |
Right Gary Cherone was in Van Halen for a couple of years so I found out today and he has a new band now! I was at the Tribute and just thought he rocked on Hammer To Fall as well as the Extreme Medley! Yes I've got Robert Plant's Innuendo but as already noted Freddie would have been the difference! I don't think Queen will ever do a major tour but they could maybe do the festival circuit. John - who knows, he might be getting bored at home now and the kids are probably all grown up now! I think if he knew there was a tide of public opinion wishing he would get involved in a Queen live venture he might go for it? Who knows? Around 75/76 Queen opened with Bohemian Rhapsody in a similar form to that already suggested. A good Call if you ask me! |

Even though I never saw Queen, I would prefer to keep it that way rather than have some other singer. Freddie wrote a huge number of their songs and his personality seems to me to be a huge part of Queens appeal. I can not think of a single singer who could pull it off talent-wise who would not be completely annoying. People have mentioned Gary Cherone but that doesn't appeal to me at all. I have seen Extreme, and I think they are one of the most wrongly named bands ever. I guess you probably can't get a record deal if you call your band Fair To Middling. Thay were all talent and no taste. |
twowaymirrormountain 06.09.2004 21:28 |
Even though I have mixed feelings about any "Queen" without Freddie Mercury, I can think of a few candidates for singer who would at least be interesting, since no one could be perfect. 1. Mike Patton-He certainly has the chops and the stage presence. He's too busy with Tomahawk, Phantomas, and Mr. Bungle and probably wouldn't do it anyway. 2. Ihsahn- Fomerly of the black metal band, Emperor. He is currently in some quasi operatic outfit whose name I can't quite recall. He can sing, as well as play keys and guitar. They wouldn't even need Spike. He probably considers himself too evil to be in Queen, though. 3. Weasel Walter- Multi-Instrumentalist behind the Flying Luttenbachers. He covered BoRhap on the Dynamite With a Laserbeam compilation. I have never heard that but have seen various other bands he has been in. Can play guitar and keys. He has great stage presence. 4. Rob Halford-Why not? I imagine he can hit the high notes. |
joeyjojo 06.09.2004 22:48 |
" Mike Patton-" Now there's an idea! |
The Real Wizard 09.09.2004 00:26 |
5. James LaBrie. His biggest hero is FM. James has a much better live range than Freddie ever had, and an equally good vibrato... a huge voice he has. He would do an outstanding job, I think. Great setlist, Jimmy Dean... although I'd like a couple more obscure tracks from the 70s... :) |
Stephan 21.02.2006 05:58 |
And James could do all the difficult songs. A guy who can perform 'Under A Glass Moon' or 'Learning To Live' won't have any difficulties with Queen stuff. He could very easily do songs like 'Teo Toriatte', 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Innuendo' or even 'The March Of The Black Queen'. |
rogertaylor88 21.02.2006 09:46 |
Matthew Bellamy would be the perfect guy to substitute Freddie: veeery good taste in music, wonderful voice (remembers me to Freddie at the early years), great showman, and many more things... |

Just how were you able to dig up a thread that old?? Interesting speculations, though:). |
