Exactly what the title says.
WHY DO THEY PUT THOSE DAMN ANNOYING BONUS TRACKS ON THE PERFECT CDS!!!!! I really want to scratch them off if I can!
It totally ruins Queen II not to say News of the World (no wonder I avoid listening to those two while I feel too lazy to reach remote control). Thank goodness there's no remix tracks on Innuendo - that's my favourite album.
Can anyone tell me how those fools at Queen Production got into their thick skulls the idea of including those damn bonus tracks and ruin songs like "Somebody to Love"? (And not include THE most awesome B-side Soul Brother in Hot Space)
Time to purchase something OLDER than 1991 (and why are those bonus tracks all dated back to 1991).
It was just an idea that turned out to be not so welcome among fans. The premise is good.. give some producers a shot at remixing classics... but most of the results were either useless or downright annoying. The 'straight' remixes, that is.. the ones like Somebody to Love which are faithful to the originals rather than being techno or rap shit.. I don't think they're so bad, just unnecessary. 'Tie Your Mother Down' and 'Fat Bottomed Girls' are actually pretty good. The techno/house and rap/hip-hop tracks are hideous.
You can always stop playing the disc before they start, or program your player to only do the original tracks.. I don't find it a hassle at all, and most of the albums sound pretty good in their 1991 remastered form I think. In fact I prefer the 1991 version of 'Queen' over the 2001 remaster.
The inclusion of those remixes was to sucker so many fans into buying the collection again. I bought all of Queen's albums on vinyl, then on CD (from the UK) and again on CD (from the US). When they remastered them again in 2001, I didn't care. Enough is enough.
The record company should have just released a CD called "Queen's Greatest Hits Remixed" and then all of those questionable remixes would at least have been on one CD.
BTW: If you think some of those are bad, be thankful the Rick Rubin WATC didn't end up on any of those CDs. IMO that remix is the worst and took absolutely no thought and completely lacked any inspiration.
