I am posting this for Miss James because she is not able to post it, It is gonna take a couple of parts because it is so long! LOL "For anyone who is even a little bit curious, here is my little report on the No Doubt concert I attended back in June. I seem like such a geek throughout all of it, but I was excited, dagnabbit! Don't get too bored by it... No Doubt & Blink 182 tour, June 1, 2004 We arrived at Indianpolis at 6pm or so - the drive there took 8 hours and it was stressful to find the arena, but we eventually found it with plenty of time. I was so excited, but a little nervous about finding our seats and I didn’t think I’d stop being nervous until I saw the band with my own eyes! Kath and I went within the areas where merchandise/food/drinks were sold and got in line to buy some things. I bought a maroon shirt with the “Boom Box” logo on it, a poster with the band on it, and a sticker for Chris. It took us what felt like forever to get through the line...the cashier girl was really snotty and I’m guessing she was slow in making change. :-p We got our tickets out and then went to find our seats. I was very happy with our seats - we were to the right and we could see the stage so clearly. I was a little disappointed about the big screens, because instead of being at the front on both sides of the stage, they were set behind all of the seats so people who were sitting on the grass could see (can’t really complain, cos they needed to see, too!) So we sat there for quite a while. Not too long after we sat down, the opening band came on - they were an Australian band called The Living End. I thought they were pretty good and their music was interesting cos it seemed like it it was a mixture of lots of different genres. When they finished their set, they then closed off the stage with a huge curtain. I was SO eager by this time and the most exciting part about waiting was we didn’t know who was actually coming out first to perform. Around about 8:30pm or so (I think), we started to hear instruments being tuned, etc, and my excitement only increased. Everyone started to cheer and we knew someone was coming out any moment. I was watching the stage and then all of the sudden, I heard We Will Rock You begin playing (Queen’s version) and I immediately thought “Oh, no, Blink’s coming out first.” because I didn’t recall ever hearing of ND liking Queen. As the music played, I saw the curtain slowly being opened and it seemed like simultaneously, I saw the boombox crown on a huge sheet hanging up and I heard Gwen’s voice. I went crazy (LOL)....I mean I really went crazy....I was screaming and jumping and dancing and was in complete disbelief that Gwen was standing right in front of me. They went straight into “Just a Girl” - I freaked out as soon as I heard the riff! Gwen was hitting every spot of the stage, while Tom was to the left, Tony to the right, and Adrian (who was wearing a very fetching tennis skirt - LOL) centered at the top. One of the best things about the concert was Kath and I were surrounded by Blink fans, so they weren’t jumping up and down and things like that because they weren’t familiar with all of the songs...and being short this came in very handy. Next song they performed was “Excuse Me Mister.” Throughout this song I mostly just stared at Gwen and would give Kath various glances with a huge grin on my face that said “Is this for real???” I was super excited with the next song. The opening bit to “Ex-Girlfriend” is rather drawn out - Tom does little noises on his guitar while Gwen dances in the shadows (but she was still visible to the crowd). Right when I heard Tom play the actual opening guitar bit to the “Ex-Girlfriend” I started to cheer and got really excited all over again (I am going to be using the word “excited” a lot throughout this, so saddle up, you readers). Gwen then burst into the song with her usual vivacity. I loved her spontan |

I was happy and somewhat sad when the next song was performed, because it meant that the show was nearly over. Tom played the opening bit to “Don’t Speak” and then Gwen began singing, but she stopped at one point to let the crowd sing it instead. It was cool, cos everyone knew the lyrics. It was fantastic to hear this one live because this was the song that got me hooked on ND so many years ago. It was really difficult to imagine I was there, watching them perform it right in front of me. During the song Gwen went over to Tony and was swaying her body next to his and I think she put her arm on his shoulder or something like that. I was extremely surprised when Tony started the bassline to “It’s My Life” and I freaked out yet again as soon as I heard it. I was guessing beforehand that they wouldn’t play this, but I was still hoping they would. I felt special cos we were the first ones of the tour to see it played live. :^D They then went straight into “Spiderwebs” and everyone was jumping up and down and singing along with it! It was such a rush and Gwen has the crowd participate again. She sang the lyrics “Now it’s gone to deep....” really slowly and drawn out and then she sang “you....wake me....in my f*cking sleep” and said “you all do it!” The crowd seemed to like that bit.... I got very sad when they then left the stage. I thought for sure that they would have played “Sunday Morning” and thought that “Spiderwebs” would have definitely been the encore. The crowd then started to clap and cheer for an encore...thankfully they came back out on stage! LOL The crowd got a little quiet and then Gwen was getting ready to sing. As soon as I heard her sing the word “....you....” I screamed so loudly that everyone that was in front of me looked back at me with a look like “What’s her problem?” which embarrassed me, but it WAS a concert, so why not scream?? The reason why I screamed was because I knew Gwen was beginning to sing “Sunday Morning.” She sang slowly “...you....youuu....you came in with the breeeeee-eeeeezzeee on Sunday Morning....” etc and it was by far the best performance of the night. Not because I love the song so much, but because everyone was jumping and singing and enjoying it as much as I was. I was sad when they left as well as extremely tired. It was the best concert I have been to and certainly not the last ND concert that I’ll attend. I’m already jazzed up for the next tour....!! ...I've included some links to some photos of the actual concert I attended. Here they are: link and if you click the "Indianapolis, Noblesville" link in the picture are, those are also pics from my concert: link |

The last time I saw No Doubt was in 1997...they were amazing! I saw Blink 182 at Maple Leaf Gardens in '99 and they sucked ass. Love No Doubt. |

I didn't bother staying to watch Blink 182, as I didn't know any of their songs and mostly because my sister was tired and she wanted to leave. I wanted to stay for at least one song, but wasn't gonna make my sister stay. lol |
