Right when you were at High School, what did you do for "History Lessons"? Sorry I was just wondering, because looking back I was taught the History of Britain and the Politics, so what do they teach you for History, Stupid Question I know but I was just wondering.
I know Americans aren't taught about Canadians, which isn't fair to me and a lot of other fellow Canadians. We have to learn about the Americans, but they won't learn about us.
Hmm, I see a discrepancy here...
We learned Ohio History (I am in Ohio), American History, World History (including Canada). I also took classes in Western Civilization and American Govt.

Thank you for the answere darling :)
I was just wondering.
I learned the ultra-left-wing history of the US in US History class, before that was "Modern European History" which was basically left-wing western Europe history (Britain, France, Germany, Netherlands), and about Canada, South America, Africa, in French Class.
Finally, this year I'm doing something OTHER than history. My class is learning about ancient civilizations (prehistoric times up till the middle ages).
My high school history consisted of:
World History CP
US History I Honors
US History II AP
I'm not taking Western Civilization this year because, well, I don't have to.
I'd have given my right arm to learn British and American history at school. Unfortunately here they see no reason to teach us these things, because of course they have no relevance to us so we got stuck with the 150 years or so if New Zealand history that exists.
Actually that's not entirely fair, they did try and teach us about Palestine and Ireland for, like, two weeks each.
I had to take World History my sophomore year and US History my Junior year. They were both boring and I never paid attention. I actually fell asleep a lot in that class and they have pictures in the year book to prove it.
Here's a brief history according to what I remember in HS:
So, like, King George is being an ass and stuff. So we're all like, "Forget you, we're forming our own country". Then King George is all like, "WTF?? You can't do that!" And we're all like, "Yeah we can. One if by land. Two if by sea". Yadda Yadda Yadda...Constitution gets written, Washington and Jefferson have children with their slaves (*gasp* SCANDAL!) Yadda Yadda Yadda...more war and we get pissed with each other so we fight each other. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda...we drink ourselves silly in the 20's, cry during the 30's...more war...FDR, A-Bomb. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda...Stones, Beatles, Beach Boys, et al. do their thing...blah blah blah...
QUEEN is conceived :-D
bad hair-dos, bad disco music, cheesy 80's music videos...I'm born.
THE END
I hope you enjoyed ;-)

I learned how we fought the Red Coats in the American revolution. LOL... Not much, we learned how America came about and pretty much all the problems we had till now. Times of peace dont really get taught in History class, kinda funny.

Ooh, boo-hoo. We had to learn about American history and I live in Aus-fucking-stralia. Although the more correct name is Australia. Learnt about bootlegging, FDR, Capone, the great Dust Bowl, the Dayton-Monkey trials, immigration, Sacco and Vanzetti and a lot of other problems America had/has.
Anybody can miss Canada tucked up in the corner like it is. And Alaska.
And does anyone learn about Australia? Oh-no! Not except the Australians. Fuckers.

Dude, I so used to watch the Crocodile Hunter all the time.
I went through highschool in the 1990 era. At that time, we were still taught a very euro, white-male-centric history. We didn't study history so much as we simply learned a few facts here and there.
A great book to read that talks about american history education and it's many failings is this: link
A must read for anyone that went through the American public school system IMHO.

Oh, somebody finally decided to write a book on my history grades.
I did go through the American public school system, but quite frankly, I don't care what lies I was taught about history, the lamest waste of a subject ever (no quantity of "Importance of History" essays assigned by your history teacher will change this).
Actually I did quite well, because I just do well, I guess.
To Dragonflamze, a brief history of the UK.
Lots of fighting, invasions, betrayal, slavery, colonialism, genocide, ruled half the planet, 2 world wars, loss of colonies, still think we are a world power, governed by a two faced tax happy twat.
Did I miss anything out?
