Britney Spears (WHY, GOD, WHY????!!!??!!!????), Anastacia, Beyonce, Pink, Will Young etc. etc. I really don't know what were Bri and Rog thinking when they encouraged this... I'm in general totally against ANY Queen covers, but one that's pretty good is Spread Your Wings by Blind Guardian. It's great, they didn't change anything, the song is just a little harder, more metal. And Blind Guardian are really big big Queen fans and great musicians.. So this is one of the best queen covers I guess. |

It wasn't really a 'cover' but on the first season of American Idol, someone butchered Bohemian Rhapsody (NEVER try to do the operatic section by yourself and think you'll sound good!). It made me want to cry. What actually DID make me cry was another (short-lived) reality show Performing As... This guy, Lawrence really really messed up WWRY, WATC, and BoRhap - not to mention, he couldn't do any of Freddie's moves (I HATE when people pretend to STRUM the mic as they pretend that's a guitar! It just makes me want to burn things). And let us never forget the damn pepsi commercial - I lost respect for Pink after that bomb went off. |

I have, and I think it's alright: not terrible, but not great either. Just the same type of thing that most pop-punk bands put out these days. |
Into La Ment 30.08.2004 23:38 |
Ugh yeah. Wyclef's AOBTD was baaaad. And the fact they deemed it fit for a Queen CD just made matters worse. Even if that CD was GH3. Apparently, Green Day covered WATC at the Reading fest last weekend... o_0 |

I don't like 'Another One Bites The Dust' with Wyclef Jean...now why they put that one on the GH III I don't understand either.... I like George Michael's 'Somebody To Love'. |

In 1990, only he used the name Nine Inch Nails. :) Seriously, though, I hated Dwight Yoakum doing Crazy Little Thing Called Love and just about everybody except George Michael, Seal, and Gary Cherone at the Freddie Tribute. Oh, and Anastacia and Robbie Williams and... ah, shit! The list is too long. The only bad cover that was good was Bad News doing BoRhap cause they purposely did it bad unlike the others who actually thought they were doing good covers. |

Just about every track on Queen Dance Traxx I sucks. How lucky are we there never was a Traxx II!?! And there was some bloke on the Finnish Idols competition last year who did the most awful version of I Want It All. The judges agreed with my opinion about his performance, Freddie would have turned in his grave, had he not been cremated. |

"probably 'ice ice baby' by I don't remember his name cover of under pressure" COVER??? He ripped it off, literally! There was a plagarism lawsuit when it was first released because there was no reference to Queen or Bowie in the songwriting credits. |

Sonja wrote:I actually doubt money came into it for Brian. I don't believe he is motivated by money. He saw something worthwhile in the project and went for it. It was more to do with working with three key female artists than getting a wad of money from Pepsi. he mentioned on the web site that he wanted to release the track as a single for charity, but it didn't work out (probably due to the management of the three singers, but that's complete speculation on my part).Gunpowder Gelatine wrote: I hated the Pepsi commercial. Many people go on about the Pepsi thing. In my opinion the fiasco was all to do with Pepsi. I was at the Dominion the night they premiered the track and ad, and the crowd were kept waiting for ages until the entourage reached the theatre, then some PR guy from Pepsi came in and without apologising for the delay asked everyone to watch their ad. He should've been fired if he's supposed to be their PR guy. Then Brian and Roger came on stage with Pink, Beyonce and Britney (were paraded really). They didn't speak, but I think they should've, just to say sorry for the delay etc. But again, I think Pepsi were organising it all, so... As for working with people like Brit, Pink and Beyonce, why shouldn't they if they want to? It's up to them and it's their music. If we don't like the result, then fine, ignore it, don't buy it etc (in fact, you couldn't buy the Pepsi song, so where's the harm?) |

Try the SSOR remix on the Queen II Hollywood records album. |
mystic_rhythms 04.10.2004 13:26 |
Sorry to just jump in like this, but there seems to be some confusion about the covers. I noticed a few of you people mentioning the AOBTD remix, Vanilla Ice's "Ice, Ice, Baby", and other remixes (damn you Rick Rubin) as covers. Technically, they aren't full-on covers, as the basic lyrics, bassline, and instruments stay the same. However, they are covers because these people totally butcher the original songs. I hate the remix on Hollywood's News of The World, along with the "Bicycle Race" remix on Jazz, but the other's I can live with. Especially the "Dragon Attack" and "I'm In Love With My Car" remixes. Anyway, covers or remixes, it doesn't matter, a great amount of them suck, so it doesn't matter that much to me. |

Yes, all the covers from the We Will Rock You concert were quite great actually... and yeah George Michael and Seal... and I must say, Lisa Stansfield all did great jobs at the tribute. At one point you could even see John smiling... and I'm sure it was about how good Lisa was singing his song. |
