Seen it and enjoyed it. Booze helps, mind. |

3 times in London. Absolutely brilliant, haven't seen anything like it. I can't understand why some fans think the whole idea is rubbish. To me, it kind of makes up for the Queen gigs I've missed because I was born a little too late.... But I guess IF I'd seen a gig I wouldn't say that. oh well, whatever...anyway, it blew my mind!! |
Adam Baboolal 27.08.2004 21:04 |
Saw it once last year. Hope to see it one more time before it ends next year. Great stuff! Peace, Adam. |
Goo 27.08.2004 21:28 |
I saw it once in London. Am planning to see it in Toronto next year a few times. I thought it was absolutely AMAZING!!! The cast was awesome. And the music went so well with the whole musical style. I think it was the perfect thing for queen, seeing as their music is already so showy and extravagant. |
Saint Jiub 27.08.2004 22:56 |
I saw it on video twice at the Breakthru convention. The corny plot is a pathetic Rush 2112 rip off. The humor is nothing but marginal one liners. Tony Vincents stuttering was annoying and seemed like a weak Jimmy Stewart "It's a wonderful life" imitation. Plus I am not into cover bands anyway. |
onevsion 27.08.2004 23:07 |
haven't seen it. Don't want to. Queen= Freddie, Brian, Roger, John. I don't like all the stuff released after No One But You.. |

To those who have seen the American version: in what context is You're My Best Friend used? Because I believe it hasn't been used in any other version. Get a chance to see the Las Vegas Sun review yet? Great to see a positive piece like that. |
Adam Baboolal 28.08.2004 08:05 |
If you don't like theater/musical, why post? For those that don't like the idea and don't think it'll be good: I was being dragged to this one by the folks and was not looking forward to it. I'd read on HERE that it wasn't good. And of course, I felt the story sounded pretty crummy. Got there, loved it and the rest is history. You really have to give it a chance. Sure it's not the best story, but just embrace the fun side. The music too, of course! Don't let the driven musical haters pursuade you. Only you can make up your own mind! ;) Peace, Adam. |
lady lisa 28.08.2004 08:54 |
I have, I have!!!! Guaranteed to blow your mind......I saw it with the original cast...I was there with a friend who doesn't really like Queen, but she thought the show was fantastic...another soul is won for We Will Rock You hahaha. |
Borhap80 28.08.2004 09:07 |
I've seen it 4 times and I think it's very entertaining.... No One But You is so DAMN good, no words can describe that feeling. Goose bumps I've never felt in my whole life.... WOW |
Black-Rose 28.08.2004 09:23 |
I saw it twice on video at the convention - and it was ok coz i'd had loads of beer, but seeing it live it is amazing. So it's a corny story who cares it is an excellent night out, a great way to see the Queen catalogue played live. You just have to realise you aren't going to actually see Queen just a story using the music. |
Q-Nick 28.08.2004 10:17 |
I've seen the London show 16 times.It's great. |

Adam - The title of this topic is: "Who's seen the musical WWRY?" I saw the musical and I commented on it. Is there a problem or are only pro-musical comments allowed? |
Into La Ment 28.08.2004 19:07 |
I've seen it in London. And I have to say it really just wasn't my thing. Although it was clearly never intended to be the main attraction of the musical, I neverthless found the plotline frustratingly weak. And some of the singing was... well... I'd just rather stick to my Queen records. I found it all too... too musical-like ^_^ I'm not a fan of musicals at all. Cheese overload. I'm not saying I think it was bad, per se, at all. I just don't plan to see it again any time soon. EDIT: May I add, however, that 'No One But You' was beautifulness. Tears almost started welling up in eyes... |
Saint Jiub 28.08.2004 19:09 |
Yeah - It sure was Cheesy. |
Adam Baboolal 28.08.2004 21:15 |
The reason I posted what I did was because if you don't like musicals/theater, what's the point of commenting in this thread about a musical? It kinda defeats the point because we already have a good idea of what you'll say. And btw, it wasn't directed at anyone in particular, Bullwinkle. Peace, Adam. |
Saint Jiub 28.08.2004 21:35 |

Llisos 29.08.2004 14:13 |
The spanish (Madrid) production is just GREAT!!! But I think they have a very bad promotion... and bad luck... and very high prices... The premiere's day, prince Felipe announced his marriage and all the press dedicated a lot of time (even Brian was asked about Felipe the premiere's night!!!) ... later the 11-M tragedy... very sad. For sure, they'll solve the lack of promotion for the next season. I hope to see the show in my city (Barcelona) but even in Bilbo and Valencia. |
AwkbyName 29.08.2004 15:12 |
Saw it at the Dominion, thought it was a great night out, certainly not highbrow, but pure entertainment, even got a tour backstage and chatted with the costume people. Keep meaning to go again, maybe when The Great Chancellor Amethyst gets over!!! |
Adam Baboolal 29.08.2004 18:18 |
Why do you always have to make these things personal, Bullwinkle? Peace, Adam. |
MamaQueen 29.08.2004 18:39 |
I've seen it in London. I enjoyed the music, of course, it was the first time I heard Queen music live. I detested the story, didn't care about the characters; I was expecting a more poignant story. |
Saint Jiub 29.08.2004 19:23 |
Because I do not like your attempts at suppressing non-stepford opinion. Have you tried to lecture Your Valentine yet in her topic today on why she should have still have enjoyed Benindorm? |

B, just chill. I'm not here to fight anyone. If you don't share the same view, don't get personal. And for your information, I apologised in that thread you referred to. I made a mistake there. And I never directed anything specifically at you here. The musical/theater comment had been mentioned by others. The point being, if someone doesn't like musical/theater, how can you entertain the idea of the Queen musical? It's like someone saying, "I don't like Punk" and then they go to see a punk band. It doesn't make much sense. And the only reason you think it's a stepford comment, is probably because I like some things that Queen do these days. We all have our differing opinions. Now a person who doesn't like musicals, but decides to see the Queen musical? Now that's kinda Stepford-like, IMO. Remember, I didn't want to see the musical in the first place. I didn't like the idea and found it cheesy as well. But after seeing it, I changed my opinion. I enjoyed the experience. Peace, Adam. |
Saint Jiub 29.08.2004 22:20 |
"If you don't like theater/musical, why post?" Are certain opinions politically incorrect, and should not be stated? In my mind, I often see you try to discredit critical opinions, and you try to discourage critical discourse. |

I don't think they will put out a DVD soon I have seen 3 Shows I went in with an Open Mind and Enjoyed Its not QUEEN but the Characters are Great and the Band is Superb they can Sing! Dancing is Fabulous...the Set looks Amazing! The Story line is a let down for me personally It will be Interesting to see what changes are made for Vegas Its 'Rock Theatre' not Musical Theatre I liked it! |

I've seen it- actually quite liked it... It had it's moments... Definitelly better than going to see "cheeky cheeky bang bang" or some other crap like that... The band is not bad, singers are OK... Didn't like Tony Vincent at all- he was crap; new guy is IMO much better, a bit rawer... It does have a rock feeling, it does have funny moments (I laughed my ass off with the joke about Brian's last ever solo- no, I won't spoil it, go and check it for yourselfs...); and it does have a cheesy storyline: so what? Was BICYCLE RACE an ambitious thing...? In short: IT'S NOT WORTH 3 YEARS OF BRIAN WORK- NOOOOO! BUT- it's pretty enjoyable...! I did like some of the songs (NOBY in particular...)... And I really, really hate musicals!!! |
Saint Jiub 31.08.2004 23:45 |
Your original exchange with Kevo about aspect ratios and your input on Brians parasite comments has been deleted ... but I found these: Pathetic topic. Now I know it's really about Brian bashing. :( I expected more from you guys. I really did. Wow. You read a lot into Brian's note, didn't you? It must have been pointed directly at you, YV and Hangman, huh. :) I find your post a bit odd, Zeni. I can't believe that going to Benidorm is a loss. Just enjoy what's there. "Personally, I am afraid that a.)we will never see the box set(s)...or c.)they will have region 2 dvd content that I cannot access..." Er... get a better dvd player! lol |
Oberon 01.09.2004 07:22 |
I think the story could be a lot better, but I think the cast and band are brilliant. The principal singers sing the songs very well in my opinion. If they sing them in a "musical/theatre" way, well that's a real shock, isn't it?!?!? I know that Brian and Roger say it's more of a rock show than a musical, but at the end of the day, as everyone points out, it's not FM, BM, RT and JD, it's a musical company presenting Queen music in the context of a story in a theatre. How else would it be sung/played? It's entertaining, it presents the music in a new and interesting way (which I enjoy, although obviously prefer the studio originals) and is definitely worth going to see IMO. Sure, I cringe at the end when they arrive at the Seven Seas of Rhye (the story REALLY goes overboard at that point), but I still enjoy it, have been 3 times to London and would like to see it in Vegas at some point. I think if you like Queen, you're missing out by not going. BUT, I agree with others that Brian needs to let it go and move on. Let Mike Dixon take the reins (or someone like him). |

Bullwinkle wrote: Your original exchange with Kevo about aspect ratios and your input on Brians parasite comments has been deletedThat was a lot of folk saying how the 16:9 is wrong. I only said that that's the way they want to present those dvds right now. Maybe they'll release full-frame versions later on. But then, I also said that the Greatest Flix 1+2 dvd is available on the hub if they want the originals. Not to mention the VHS that's still available. I have no idea what the parasite thing was. ... but I found these: Pathetic topic. Now I know it's really about Brian bashing. :( I expected more from you guys. I really did.I'm not the only one who said that same thing. Not only that, but there are plenty of folk saying similar things in other threads, but you chase me up? Better start chasing the others up as well. Otherwise, you're just picking on me. Wow. You read a lot into Brian's note, didn't you? It must have been pointed directly at you, YV and Hangman, huh. :) I find your post a bit odd, Zeni.Is that from the same thread as above? If so, then, again it's nothing different from what others had posted. I can't believe that going to Benidorm is a loss. "Personally, I am afraid that a.)we will never see the box set(s)...or c.)they will have region 2 dvd content that I cannot access..." Er... get a better dvd player! lolEr... I don't know what's wrong with that. Again, I've seen it from others, so why can't I reiterate the same thing? Peace, Adam. |
