It has to be A night at the Opera or Innuendo, Great pieces of work! x |
Pim Derks 26.08.2004 17:24 |
Oh yeah, this is one of the reasons why I'm not fond of newbies. Almost forgot. |

A Night At The Opera and A Day At The Races. I don't own Innuendo yet. |
Albyboy 26.08.2004 18:09 |
I totally agree with you, Bullwinkle. |

I would have to say Queen II, but only because it is my personal favorite. |

Just as I shy away from calling 'Bohemian Rhapsody' the best Queen song because I'm sick of hearing it, I'll go the same route with A Night At The Opera. So my choice is A Day At The Races. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 26.08.2004 20:05 |
A Day At The Races, Sheer Heart Attack or Queen II. |
Zander05 26.08.2004 20:30 |
I guess I'll go with... Queen II or ADATR And I'm only answering because I try my best to be nice to newbies (unless they purposely piss me off, then we'll have a whole new situation on our hands). Hmm I wonder how many times this has been a topic of discussion? |
Mr.Jingles 26.08.2004 20:36 |
To me from best to worst... 1. Queen II 2. Innuendo 3. A Day At The Races 4. A Night At The Opera 5. Made In Heaven 6. Sheer Heart Attack 7. A Kind Of Magic 8. The Miracle 9. Jazz 10. The Game 11. Queen I 12. The Works 13. News Of The World 14. Hot Space 15. Flash Gordon Soundtrack |

i think that Queen 2 and dont yell at me for this but hot space. Many people under rate the album but its really good. Under pressure was a big success for queen and Las Palabras De Amor is beautiful. I love Life Is Real (song for Lennon) the words our so beatiful and it is really one of freddies greatest songs. Plus body language is such a hot song and the video is too. Even though its more 80s than queens style. All In all its an extremely good album. Queen 2 is so good it just explains itself as soon as you listen to it. |

i'd say The game, i dontmknow why...but its cool! i actually like hot space (unlike some other people). they're all good. i like A night at the opera because it has Bo Rhap and Im In Love With My Car on it (rogers voice is so sexy) |
iGSM 27.08.2004 06:01 |
*gasp* No one has mentioned News of the World! For shame! And I don't even like it because of We Will Rock You/We are the Champions. I'm more of a It's Late, All Dead, All Dead, My Melancholy Blues fan. |
twowaymirrormountain 27.08.2004 07:35 |
As far as I can tell, all the albums have some merit. My personal faves are Queen II and Sheer Heart Attack. My least favorite is A Kind of Magic, but there are hot songs on every single record. |
Sonia Doris 27.08.2004 09:46 |
My favourite is Queen II. I could listen to it 24/7. But Queen I is nice. ANATO is quite good. Gratest Hits 1 |

A lot of people like A Night at the Opera, but I just think that some of the songs on it are childish (Seaside, 39, Good Company). But the other songs on it are great. But I think that it's a pretty good album. But it's not my favorite. I would say a Day at the Races is my favorite. |
BrianRules 27.08.2004 15:06 |
Queen II, followed by Sheer Heart Attack (obviously, they're all great!!). |

You really can't look past Queen II. If we were looking at best solo albums it would have to be Roger's Strange Frontier. |
RedSpecial227 28.08.2004 05:28 |
I would say News of the world. It had many emotional and touching songs like All dead, All dead, Spread your wings, and My melancholy blues. And if I may suggest My Melancholy Blues is one of the greatest Queens songs ever |

I can't believe the high rankings being given to The Miracle. Let's face it, there are five good songs on there, but the rest to me just sounds like filler, unlike in the earlier days when the songs they released as singles were just as good as the others on the album. Five good songs, but that doesn't mean the album cuts the mustard. I read as well that they had about 40 songs to choose from when they were honing down the list for The Miracle - God knows what the rest of them sounded like if Rain Must Fall and Khashoggi's Ship were at the top of the list! No wonder they were keen to get on with Innuendo, imagine if The Miracle would have been Freddie's last album, not exactly going out on a high note! |
Fairy Feller 28.08.2004 19:48 |
To me the best album is QUEEN II |
Nikos 28.08.2004 19:59 |
I prefer Innuendo it's a perfect mix of Balads, Rockes, Popsongs and it's just a good combination between those songs. You can Say freddie at his last but also at his best |
twowaymirrormountain 29.08.2004 07:40 |
Actually my favorite Queen album would be side 1 of Sheer Heart Attack and side 2 of Queen II. Just substitute Death on Two Legs for Flick of the Wrist to make it even better. |
Canadian May Fan 29.08.2004 11:01 |
I haven't been inclined to collect all of them but from the one's I've got or have heard in some way or another... I love A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races. I'm enthusiastic enough about News of the World to want to buy it. I'm okay with Innuendo (though I mostly just play the songs that were on Classic Queen/GH2). I tolerate A Kind of Magic (mostly just play the Highlander stuff and One Vision). |
Saint Jiub 29.08.2004 12:01 |
Rain Must Fall (in my top 20 of Queen songs)and Khashoggi's Ship are underrated. KS gets panned because of its association with Party. Party gets both barrels because it is an average Queen song mistakenly put as the opening song of the album. As far as Rain Must Fall goes ... you must be a John basher ... Why do his latin flavored songs get no respect? I've always enjoyed the flippant, "No one stops my party," in your face attitude of Khasshogi's Ship. |

1. A night at the opera 2. A day at the races 3. Sheer heart attack 4, Jazz 5. Innuendo 6. Queen II and the worst: 1. Hot Space 2. Flash 3. Made in heaven (more a Mercury Solo) 4. A kind of magic |
Rick 29.08.2004 14:41 |
"3. Made in heaven (more a Mercury Solo)" Duh, this album is dedicated to Freddie, it's beautiful. My favourites are Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, ANATO, ADATR, Jazz, Hot Space (yes, Hot Space), Innuendo and Made in Heaven. |

My favourite album is A Night at the Opera. IMO, this album is as perfect as one can get. Putting aside God Save The Queen, (which can hardly be compared to the vocals), I love all the songs apart from I'm In Love with my Car and Sweet Lady, and I wouldn't replace those songs in any circumstance, as they are still pretty good and are a perfect fit for the album. My second favourite album is Queen II, followed by the beautiful Made In Heaven in third spot. [/img] |

Rain must fall has some nice sounds musically, and of course vocally. |

Queen On Ice 27.08.2009 15:52 |
Ooh, the first FIVE are their best, with Innuendo in 6th, but the bestest of all is of course Queen II - hands down. SHA and ANATO have some of the individually best songs, but QII works best as a whole album. Unbeatable. For me the only other albums ( I have heard) on a par with QII are Barcelona and Grace (by Jeff Buckley). |
ITSM 27.08.2009 17:33 |

I totally agree with Wiley, Queen_On_Ice and ISTM that News of The World is the best album. When we start treading the taste ground, then there's this conflict between ANATO and Queen II and SHA. Fully agree. :op |
Angeline 28.08.2009 05:47 |
I can't decide between SHA, Queen II and ANATO. When I was a child ADATR was my favourite. However NOTW has one of my favourite songs EVER 'My melancholy Blues'. In fact that's such a hard question if my answer had any weight or importance I'd lose a tremendous amount of sleep over it. |
Reid_Special_98 28.08.2009 09:03 |
"Best Queen Album" is almost as vague of a question as 'What's the best color in the world' ? It's so subjective and it's one person's opinion over another. What might be useful for this forum is to create a 'Queenzone' forum/poll (whatever) for this same question... As far as mainstream success, I would guess it would be 'Opera'...however my personal favorite is 'Races' . |
Reid_Special_98 28.08.2009 09:09 |
If I may add another thought... I was listening the other day to the Flash Gordon soundtrack - and while it's not really a mainstream album, I really feel you should listen to it as you would an orchestral soundtrack. There are some very interesting moments in there. And considering it was written in the early 80's and in a situation where the band was maybe slightly out of there element, it really is impressive. I think if it was recorded and marketed in the same light as something like Radiohead's 'Kid A' (which achived MASSIVE mainstream success) it would have been more widely accepted. I suppose it was the sign of the times. Anyway...for what it's worth. |

Yara wrote:mike hunt wrote: there is no best album, it's all a matter of taste.Agree. NOTW JAZZ and the game ends the classic Queen era, but Innuendo they somehow turned back the clock and is right in that mix. |
