No, it's not that good, bacause it is just the same as VHS was. Nothing really added there, no special features. But still, if you don't have that as VHS and like that sound they had back in 1985 it is great to have this. And I think there is a South American version of the DVD. Probably cheaper. Ask your stores. Mine was bought in Media Markt I guess.
So why did Brian pan the WWRY concert DVD for having an allegedly crap mix, but remain silent about the Final Live DVD (when it had a poor mix and was without 5.1 surround)?
Hmm - maybe because Final Live is an officially sanctioned release?
Bullwinkle, are you trying to argue about this? Come on, dude, at least leave this in the other thread.
Back to the discussion... Seek it out and decide if it sounds/looks good to you. I haven't heard any plans for this to be reworked. It's a pretty old release from Japan.
Peace,
Adam.
It was released on DVD within the last few months.
You do get to clearly hear Spike, the greatest background vocalist of all time ... that is classic and should not be fixed.
Eeek! I forgot about Spike and his keyboards. So high in the mix - waaaahhh!
Peace,
Adam.
EDIT: Btw, does anyone think they'll rework this one for a mass release instead of just Japan? Otherwise, I'll just stick with my boot.

Was it ever a mass release to begin with? I don't see them putting in the effort at this point.
I recently bought the Portuguese bootleg DVD of this release. I believe it's a direct transfer from the Laser Disc version or something like that. It is in 5.1 surround but maybe it's just a fake one. I haven't paid much attention.
Spike's keyboards are, as someone already said, very high in the mix, most noticeable at Now I'm Here and Tear it up, while Brian's guitar is really low.
Is there an OFFICIAL japanese release for this in the DVD format??
Wiley
I have a DVD-R of this show and never even finished watching it because it's so bad. Not just quality-wise, but the show itself. What's with Roger using those weird sounding pads for AOBTD? LOL

That are his Simmons electronic-drumpads, I think it's pretty cool that he added those in his drumkit. Although I like the pads he uses in Hot Space shows best.

Good question man...
But I'd say Brian isn't complaining about this one because WWRY was released worldwide, and this one won't be. Chances are he probably doesn't know about it, anyway.
