Whenever people ask me what my fav band is, I, of course, say it's Queen. Their immediate response is," Aren't they gay?" Of course me being VERY tempermantal, I shout back, " NO!! ONLY ONE WAS GAY!!!" then they TELL me taht all of them are dead. you guys know where I'm getting here, right? well thell me what you think about situations like these if you have experienced it as well. |

One of my friends told me that the lead singer had a lisp. She didn't know Freddie's name, but she kept insisting he had a lisp. I've never had any gay-bashing, though. |

I think you need to find friends that are a little more secure in their own sexuality. Or, just ignore them. Either way. |

One thing I've tried which works great, is to completely avoid contact with other people except to place orders and stuff. |

Its called Ignorance. You get it all with queen. "I hate queen. They were gay." "Freddie was pug ugly, wasnt he the one with the teeth?" "What? They did Another One Bites the Dust?" "Nah, the best band in the world is S club 7." I find it useful to just sit there and laugh. Queen fans are the ones in on the facts, the ignorant ones are losing out. Their loss. |

Well, ignorance is bliss. To know is to live a condemned life. |
QueenChick15 13.08.2004 21:30 |
thanx for your info, and the person that said i'm from America....your right and everyone here says pretty much the same thing when it comes to Queen, because everyone knows ALL the negatives about them. I just can't believe people are so discrimative toward people, it pisses me OFF!!! Look at this "crazy" world we live in now....too bad I guess. |
lottie88 13.08.2004 21:56 |
I get all sorts of crap from my friends about Queen. They wonder why I like them so much when they are from another generation, of course I have to tell them it's because they are the best band in the world. :)I also get a lot of responses like, oh they're gay and dead anyway. It is usually at this point I get completely disgusted and walk away. Most of my friends though don't mind me educating them about Queen, and I have converted most of them. I guess you just have to take the good with the bad sometimes. |
killerqueen259 13.08.2004 22:03 |
I have probably talked about Queen with about 20 people....about 16 out of those 20 had a first reply of "arent they gay?" they are too ignorant to listen to their music, and only focus on the fact that one of them is gay..I think its horid! |

I remember talking to an old friend. I asked her Do you know Freddie Mercury? She said," no", and this girl from the back of me said hes gay. ---Whats the point in telling me that? She also had this serious face on. |
Bob The Shrek 14.08.2004 01:59 |
In 30 years of listening to Queen, the only derogatory remark I have ever heard from friends or family was concerning Freddie's teeth! |
goinback 14.08.2004 04:06 |
What sickens me is that in 1980 they were probably the biggest band in America. (okay other things sicken me too, but still....) |
supernova190188 14.08.2004 07:27 |
YEAH, but what the people who say this don't realise is that a lot of them will probably be fans of bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who's lead singer is gay. these people just don't know what 'music' is |
deleted user 14.08.2004 15:18 |
I was on some other Queen message board and somebody asked if they were all gay! Why does it matter anyways? If you listen to some of Freddies songs you can totally tell he likes men. I think being gay helped him write some of his best songs. Oh well, let the ignorant miss out. |

Who cares if all four of them were gay, and that they had group sex with water buffalo..... The music was GREAT!!!!! |

As with Bob, I have been a Queen fan for close to 30 years, and never once has anyone made a negative comment to me about their sexuality, or anything else, for that matter. And yes, I do live in the United States. |

Yeah. I live in the US, and some people are like 'How can you get into Queen?' But like, my other friends, like Arianna, she loves Queen like me. She mostly has heard Borhap, WWRY, WATC, Killer Queen, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, etc..., anyway, most people at my school love Queen. Not as much as the people here, but enough to call a Queen Fan. Oh, except this one time when we were supposed to write on a card on what club we would like to start, and I wrote down a Queen Club, and when I turned it in, he read it and gave me a funny look. Then at the beggining of next day in his class, he gave me a pass to go down to the guidance secretary and told me to 'talk to her about my club'. And when I got there, she asked me why I was there, and I handed her the pass, and then she gave me a funny look, and asked, 'this is why your down here?' and I said I guess, and she said 'well, that teacher is so young, I'm surprised he was't confused as a 6th grader' and then after that, since I had to stay down there for the rest of the class, she told me that she went to some of Queen's concerts when they were in Indiana and Chicago and others, and she showed me into her office, and she had a poster of BoRap! I was like, Wow! She said that she loved Queen, and stuff, and that was the best day ever. But I never ever did forget that teacher. I asked him why he sent me down there, and he said that I had a problem, and that Queen were gay. He whispered the word gay. I looked all surprised and said 'No!' And he stood there and bought it. I thought teachers had to be smart to get into these jobs....More people like Queen than they hate 'em! |
dragonzflame 14.08.2004 18:54 |
However, if you cut Queen froma ll conversations you miss out on some choice stuff. Like when I mentioned them in front of a philosophy tutor and he proceeded to tell me about the time he interviewed them when he was working for a TV company. Brian let him have a play with the Guild RS and had a whinge (Brian whinging? Never!) about it. And if I hadn't mentioned Queen I never would have discovered my two degrees of separation from them :-) |

Killer_Queen1946 wrote: I thought teachers had to be smart to get into these jobs....Teachers definitely do not need to be smart to get a job. It's mostly relative to where he or she is teaching and the school, but once you get a teaching degree, there is ALWAYS some school somewhere who is looking for you. Being a teacher is a steal. Their salary is based solely on the length of time they have been teaching at a school and their degree; they receive a MANDATORY pay raise each year. They only have to work as many days as the students have school (180 in NJ), and after they receive tenure (only 3 years in NJ), they are guaranteed a job for the rest of their life. And they complain a lot. Go figure. |

Giddy-up. But it should only be home of "some" assholes. There are lot of good folks on this side of the border, beyond the stereotypes that most Americans have for us. Most of the assholes are in Quebec, who think they can be a country all on their own. |
