Wow! It's awesome sometimes how you can just "rediscover" a track, as if you never heard it before. "All God's People" is just fantastic-awesome vocal (in fact one of the best vocal moments in Innuendo), grand, exciting and so different every moment. Freddie and Moran did a singular job on it.
So sad that the song is bashed because of its religious lyric.
I've never really paid much attention to All God's People, probably just because it's overshadowed by Innuendo, The Show Must Go On, These Are The Days Of Our Lives, etc. But I'm listening to it right now, and you're right, it is good. The vocals are great.
I always thought of AGP as one of the highlights of Innuendo for me personally. I'm surprised it usually gets mentioned in "worst songs"-type of topics.... Not the best track on the album, but very close. Way better than Headlong ,the cheesy version of I Can't Live With You or Delilah.
Ive always loved the song. Great vocals. I love the bluesy bit in the middle. I remember it getting slated in a fanclub mag after Innuendo was released and I could never understand why!
I haven't listened the Innuendo album in ages, but yes, AGP is one of its highlights... but the album's great, everything on it except for Delilah is a highlight
All God's People, what a great song! By the way, wasn't it recorded way back in 1987 (at least Freddie's vocals) during the Barcelona sessions? That would explain the great vocals... it's hard to believe Freddie could have done that during the Innuendo sessions, although The Show Must Go On is probably the best Freddie vocal performance ever... in my opinion...

Yes, someone sent in a letter saying something like "Have Queen (or Fred) got religion all of a sudden with All God's People?". Then someone else sent in a parody saying:
"Have Queen got religion all of a sudden with the song Jesus?"
I thought that was a rather clever response!
I also like AGP. And I know exactly what you mean about rediscovering things in the songs. Sometimes I still pick out new elements when I listen to them. I got an iPod for Xmas and when I listened to Great King Rat through it, I "heard" all the "cow bells" stuff Roger was doing on for the first time (I think it was "cow bells" - I'm not a musician so forgive me if I'm wrong!!). Never really noticed them before, but it was fantastic. To me, that kind of thing is why I love Queen music. I'm sure other bands have the same thing, but Queen seem particularly good at it.
I am listening to AGP right now, I have always loved this one. Together with Don't try so hard, Innuendo and TSMGO my favorite Innuendo-songs.
Oh, These are the days is playing now, I guess that is one favorite of mine too :)
