For the adult posters here only:
Do any of yas remember when you were little, that you just couldn't wait to turn the big 18 or 21 (or whatever) and become an adult? And do any of you guys then find after you turn of legal age, that you just don't feel the excitement anymore and would rather be younger?
I'm like that. Up until I turned 18, I was looking forward to turning that age, which is the age of majority in Canada. Sometime after my 18th birthday, I just kinda realized I was ignoring my age for the first time in my life.
Now I kinda wish I was 17 forever, cos I hate being 18, oddly enough. Now I'm going to dread turning 19, and then 20, and then 21...ugh :p
That's my bit.
What about your opinions on this matter?
One of my fave ages was sixteen. When i turned 18 it was sooo exciting, but then u realise it was more fun trying to get drinks illegally! hahaha. i hate being 19 cos its such an inbetweeny age. 20 ill have been alive for two decades, 21 is of course 21, but whats 19?
I could not wait to be of age because I wanted to make my own decisions and not be told around. I never would want to be under 18 again. Since that time I don't care about years. As long as you develop your abilities, keep learning new things and use your experience, you will always feel okay with your age. Only if you waste your years you will feel unhappy about your age some day and that can be even pretty early.
I feel the same as YourValentine. I would never want to be "young" again. I have enjoyed my life experiences, and I like who I am today. I wouldn't change my age, even if I could!
I couldn't have cared less about turning 16, 18 or 21. In fact, I don't even think I remembered it was my birthday when I turned 21 until a couple of days later.
The best age was around 8 or 9.
I'm with Janet and YV - I don't have any desire to be 'young' again, certainly not in this day and age.
I made jokes about not wanting to be 30 but it didn't bother me then and being 32 doesn't bother me now. Being the decrepit old has-been that I am, the younger generation today is far more worldly-wise than we were and that isn't necessarily a good thing. They see adults as equals; we weren't on first-name terms with our school tutors!
I've got a friend who, in six months' time, will absolutely FFFRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAKKKK when she hits 40! LMAO!
19 was cool because I could legally drink, and after that I stopped caring. I'm 21 now, will always be the young'un compared to my boyfriend, and life is good. Measure your years in quality, not quantity.
I was going to say i'd love to be young again but when someone said they'd never want to be young again in "this day and age" it hit me like a ton of bricks. there is no way i'd want to be a teenager or even a child in this time, not knowing how great my childhood was. I can't even let my daughter in our own backyard without fear of someone taking her. We live in a very nice area but i am still umcomfortable letting her play in her own backyard.
nothing is safe today.

- wonderfully said, YV.
