I'm sorry for repeating this in its own topic, but I'm very curious about this..
Having just now purchased the first 3 albums.. these covers are all very glossy, which is fine but none of the others I have are like this. (I bought them in reverse order)(except The Game of course which is a glossy mirror cover) So I'm wondering if anyone has non-glossy versions of these first three or perhaps glossy versions of the later ones?
It figures that I waited so long to get them all that my last three would be printed differently. Not exactly an end-of-the-world situation though :)
Also, 'Queen' and 'Sheer Heart Attack' have the title and catalogue number on the top edge as well as the spine, which seems odd.
I think I was one of the early ones buying these. I ordered them as soon as they were released. The first three are glossy. I thought that also Made In Heaven is glossy.
Thanks Rien :) I was afraid I'd gotten some from two different batches or something. Wouldn't surprise me if they changed them slightly just to make completists buy them again!
My MIH isn't glossy.. I checked them all today. Just these three and The Game.
they have titles at the top spine because the original vinyl issues have that as well. Queen II vinyl is also laminated or at least glossy, another reason why the first three have that as well (my Queen and SHA vinyl issues arent glossy though)
the mini cd issues are simply a good copy of the vinyl issues.
That's right, Ron. There are exact copies with a great eye for detail. Even the cutouts in the innersleeves are all identical to the first original vinyl pressing. The first pressings of those three albums were laminated indeed!
The trimmed corners of the inner sleeves were like that in the UK vinyl versions? That sucks! I really dislike those... makes them seem literally like 'cut-outs', records that have been reduced to the bargain bin :-P
