So I downloaded the Freddie's Loves documentary and all I can say is... WHY? Why was this even broadcasted, and furthermore, why was it even given approval by Queen themselves. From what I gather, Freddie's life was always regarded as a very personal. He said on many occasions that it didn't matter what went on in his personal life, it was the music that was the most important. The media always wanted to know whether he was gay or straight, but none of us ever knew for sure until he died. His friends were always very good at keeping his personal life away from the public, so why now do they think it's right to reveal all his secrets now that he's dead? Is this just bitter ex-lovers trying to get there 15 minutes of fame, and if so, why get your 15 minutes by telling the fans, gay or straight, all the dirt we never cared to hear about anyway?
I don't care if Freddie had a big cock, do you? I don't want to know that his teeth sometimes made intimacy a challenge. WTF?!? Nice friends you had there, Freddie. If my friends revealed so much shit about me after I'm dead, then they never were friends in the first place. Wasn't it this type of media exploitation that inspired Queen to write Scandal?
If we're going to see a documentary on all the people Freddie slept with, it would have been nice to hear the two cents worth from the guy who gave him AIDS. At least that way we could put a face to the man who killed the greatest singer I've ever heard or ever will hear. And an 'I'm sorry' would have been nice, too. Sorry about this rant, guys, I'm just bitter because I think I would have much preferred a documentary on all the things the remaining members of Queen have done since Freddie's death, and the yearly amounts of money they donate towards AIDS research, instead of a bunch of so-called "friends" telling the world what an out-of-control slut Freddie was.
I undoubtedly agree with you 100% but like so many other dead celebrities FM is now a odd curosity to the media who take no mercy with personal feelings regarding family and true fans.
What else is new!
Muck dragging brings high ratings.
It is a sad fact of life nowadays.
Kriz ;o(
The reason I thought it was "Queen approved" was the use of their music in it. But now that you mention it, there aren't any clips from any official releases, so I believe you when you say it's unauthorized. Good. I'm happier it's not authorized. :))
I dont think it was that bad, I found it quite interesting. Nobody slagged him off. A lot of people had respect for Freddie and he had some good friends who spoke good about him. The only thing that pissed me off was that fekking Eric Hall, he has to be the Uks biggest dick head. There was also some good unseen footage and photos. As a whole it was pretty well made, nobody dragged him through the dirt and ive seen a lot worse.

I always thought he was a twat... but I didn't realise he was connected with queen.
I'd rather have something like this compared to yet another docu telling us how great Queen were. Which is probably why I'm looking forward to the BoRhap docu in September.
But the point is that these things don't suit everyone. You either love it or hate it. Which is the way a lot of people feel about Queen! So, I think that's a good thing.
I thought it was very interesting. Especially that this presented another side of Freddie not seen by the public. Remember, he was nothing like his stage persona.
Something is puzzling me. You don't like the docu, but your comment about "the guy who gave him AIDS" is kind of contradictory, yes?

Hey, Adam. I didn't mean to contradict myself. I guess what I meant by this comment was that by hearing from this ex-lover of Freddie maybe we could all hear the story of when everything started the spiral downwards with some answers to questions we've all had for years. I never meant to sound derogatory, if that's how it came out. :)
I was expecting it to be more exploitative but was surprised that it was handled with good humor. If this kind of thing was produced about a living celebrity, they might not like it, but I think Freddie in the next dimension probably had a big laugh about it.
I noticed some of those interview sessions are the same ones from 'Magic Moments' which was the complete opposite content-wise. Not a word about sexuality in that doc.

Look, we're all very sad because Freddie is dead, but you can't blame Thor or whoever gave him the disease, since you never know for sure, for that. I can see no reason why Freddie's life is more important than anyone elses's life. And Freddie passed it to a lot of other lovers. Winnie died of AIDS, right? Does that make Freddie a murderer? And he gave AIDS to Jim too. He's still lucky to be alive, but he must be struggling everyday with it and I'm sure he's also stuffing himself with medicines. And this is Freddie's fault. Aren't you sorry for these two guys? Only because Freddie is Freddie doesn't mean he didn't kill one or more of his lovers.
But the truth is Freddie didn't kill Winnie. Nor did Thor kill Freddie. It's the BLOODY DISEASE that killed them both. I tend to believe that the guy who gave him AIDS didn't know he had it. You can't just stone him in the market place for killing Freddie... This man is a victim too, I don't think he knew he was sick and wanted to kill the world's best singer ever.
Anyway here NOBODY can be totally sure about who gave the disease to whom... it's destiny's fault.
England,USA and Germany during 80s was full of that disease so nothing can be for SURE.I met people who admitted they had a lot of lovers (some of their lovers had aids, they said)but they have been lucky enough to not get it.Strange and sometimes cruel destiny.
