Acer aspire. Just getting to grips with the thing now. Its great. But no floppy drive. Are we passed them now or do we still need them this day and age? Would i be better getting myself a zip drive?
Floppy drives are on the way out... i think with a lot of computer firms you have to specifically ask for a floppy drive - otherwise it will come without.
Go for one of these: link
They are the future - so easy to use / move files. Make sure you get one with at least 128MB.
(all you need on your laptop is a USB port)
Don't bother with a zip drive - waste of money.
I don't have a floppy on my computer. If the file is small enough to go on a floppy, then it's ok to email the file to myself and use it on another computer. I do that a lot for files that I need to print out.
Of course, that generally means you need 2 email addys.
Forgot to mention: floppies are / were only useful for transferring files NOT for storing files.
Those USB mobile disk drives have come down in price so much. And unlike floppies they are durable and the files are very unlikely to corrupt.
