It is widely known that Queen was immensly popular live. Many people who have seen MANY bands including Queen have said they were the best etc... of course subjective...
I came across this :
Top 10 Live albums as polled by Classic Rock magazine
1. Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous
2. UFO - Strangers In The Night
3. Deep Purple - Made In Japan
4. AC/DC - If You Want Blood, You've Got It
5. Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won
6. The Who - Live At Leeds
7. Judas Priest - Unleashed In The East
8. Hawkwind - Space Ritual
9. Rush - Exit Stage Left
10. Rory Gallagher - Iris Tour (1974
I think it is shame that such a live band have given out quite weak live albums !!!
Live at wembley was more the occation, not a very good gig. It's not a bad gig at all but the whole thing is so predictable...
Live magic... well.... to cut Borhap in the first place.... ... I wont say more....
Live killers.... not bad but not very good...
They could have done SO much better.....
Seattle 77
Wembley 80
Earls court 77
Sao Paolo 81
Leeds 82
and so on..... these gigs showed what the realeased ones lack : aggression, feeling, no compromise, joy, power and terrific playing!!!!!!
What do u think ?
Maybe a complete gig, without all the splicing from different concerts, would be better. Kind of like Wembley, but from an earlier stage in their careers, because by '86, their concerts were more thought out, more hits based than from earlier tours.
That was exactly my point in "WHY IS WEMBLEY SO OVERRATED" thread... They could have done so much better yet they constantly were/are pushing Wembley...
Obviously fans love it, but general rock audience doesn't give a toss... By releasing Houston or Hammermith'79 they could have had sth of a "Live In Japan" status...

And now... it's time to see Queen for the-first-time. On top of their game - on fire...

I think Keynes will be the concert of choice to check out once it's released. I've seen the edited one and thought it was cool. Even listened to the bootleg torrent and again thought, "cool."
Peace,
Adam.
I agree, if Milton Keynes is marketed well and sells well, it could certainly become the definitive officially-released document of Queen live, and give them some real attention in the rock world again.
Nice top 10 list, btw! I haven't heard a few of those, but I completely agree with the AC/DC, Rush, Deep Purple, The Who, and Zeppelin choices.
