Has this ever happened to you? When you discover that an old song you use to ignore or not like much suddenly becomes one of your favorite? It happened to me with I'm Going Slightly Mad. I always used to skip this song, but now I trully like the strange sounds, the low notes, the lyrics. I can associate with the lyrics now. I can really say "I'm a card short of a full deck" and I'm proud of it.
I always skipped over Seven Seas Of Rhye and Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy until one day when I was too lazy to hit the skip button. Once I heard them I couldn't beleive what I had been missing, and I am now happy to say I completly love them. I almost never skip songs anymore. Most songs that I didn't like the first few times I heard them have been growing on me.
I tend to go through phases and listen to one song 10 times in a row before moving on... Ride the Wild Wind is a song that grew on me.
Now i think its great!
That happened with me for "Somebody to Love." I hardly listened to anything else anyway besides "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy." When I first got Greatest Hits, I was obsessed with that song.
I used to turn NOTW off right after It's Late; for some reason, I didn't like My Melancholy Blues. Now, I love it. It's such a calm, peaceful song. I did the same thing with ADATR with Teo Torriatte, until finally, I listened to it and loved it. I'm taking a break from it now, though, because I listened to it too much!
I used to skip, "Get Down Make Love." I'm not too fond of the lyrics, but I LOVE the music and all of the backround effects. I was missing out on that song!

I never hated Somebody to Love. I thought the gospel sound was a little weird. When I first saw the title, I thought of Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody to Love," and I was really confused.
Yeah. I used to skip over Tie Your Mother Down. I didnt like the loud noise in the begining, it was classic queen, and when my mom was playing the CD, and she doesnt like to skip around, and i had to listen to it, i fell in love. also, when my mom bought these legend CDs, i saw 'somebody to love' by jefferson airplane, and my first reaction was ' they ripped queen off!!!' I was soo mad, but i wanted to listen to it. then i discoverd that it was the same title, different song and lyrics. then i remembered it from the movie 'the cable guy'. lol.
I've discovered that if I find a song really catchy after the first time I hear it, it gets annoying and it's a bad song. However, most of the times when I don't particularly like a song very much, I end up really liking it after I listen to it a few more times. This was the case for Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, Don't Stop Me Now, White Rabbit (by Jefferson Airplane), Radio Ga-Ga, Let Me Live, etc...

Also, JA's "Somebody to Love" was way before Queen's.
i had that with everything after no-one but you ..............I always skipped it and guess what i still do! Altough I think the Robbie version of WATC has a great great guitar solo near the end

I feel the same way. When I first heard Bo Rhap I was really young, so I didn't appreciate it for the complexity of it, I just liked the way it sounded. I used to not like AOBTD, because I thought it was too disco-ey...but I gave it another try and now love it. There are a bunch of others like that, too. I'd dislike it or not like it much, but then relisten and fall in love with it.
Then there're times when I love the song, but don't feel like hearing it. A perfect example is STL. Sometimes I get sick of the constant "find me...somebody toooooooooo love...find me..." because I think it's repetative.
BTW...White Rabbit is an awesome song too! So haunting and mysterious, but so cool too!
